August 29, 201214 yr Author I have a question: Does anyone else remember or can name a presidential candidate that campaign during the opposing parties convention? I always thought that it was a gentlemans agreement that they would not campaign the 3 or 4 days of the conventions. I heard the same today. I can't imagine why there would be a problem with it.

August 29, 201214 yr "Real leaders don't follow polls. Real leaders change polls." One of the best lines in Christie's speech. Interestingly, it could be viewed as a shot at either President Obama or Governor Romney.
August 29, 201214 yr Author If the goal of the evening was to sell Gov Romney to those who are undecided I'd say the entire bunch failed. Gov Christie had a 2600-word speech. He FINALLY mentioned the nominee 1800 words in and then went right back to a vision that we do not know if Gov Romney shares. Mr Christie said we need to come together and have unity then killed the teachers unions. Mrs. Romney talked about various women but never mentioned poor women. The "we built it" theme was contradicted AGAIN. Mrs Romney holds up the MA schools that offer full-tuition scholarships to MA students. Those scholarships are paid for by taxes. Gov Christie lauded his dad for being fortunate enough to take advantage of the GI Bill in order to go to college and become a success. Again, tax dollars. That is EXACTLY what President Obama was saying. Fail. No one sold Gov Romney. Waste of time for the Rs in my opinion.

Henry, as the one who started the thread I , of course, watched all of Mrs. Romney's speech and all of Gov Christie's speech. I even took notes being the nerd that I am. I did get the 1800 word piece from the MSNBC folks but that was just to stress the point that Mr Romney was not being touted as he should have been. You disagree with my assessment?

"Divisive" vs "went after" as opposed to the "unity" is the same to me. He knows that unions are a hot button issue with many on the right. Easy lines for him.
