This was by far and away the worst basketball game i've watched in a long time.

 

In the first half it was a solid game. But in the 2nd half they should of called it quits

 

 

Greg Rice should have been set home, he got away with 2 elbows to the face on dead ball situations. Holy Cross shots under 10% from both the free throw line and the 3pt line.

 

I know Holmes won big, but both teams would have lost to any other top team in the region tonight.

 

I've watched alot of holmes and HC games this year. This was the worst I've seen both teams play. HC will not have a shot against any team if they shoot like they did from 3pt land tonight.

 

HHS and CCH I wouldn't take to much from this game, this is both teams low point.

This is a covington guy telling you this display of basketball was terrible.

 

The only two people who played tonight who I will applaud are Nick Steeken and Austin Hill. Austin Hill was the man amongst boyz.

 

If he should have sent home, then Scruggs should have gone with him. Rice was only retaliating, and he has to control that, but he was doing after he was elbowed himself. First half Scruggs fired an elbow that clipped him which precipitated a little jawing...then in the second half...Scruggs pushed Rice and then Rice elbowed him all after the whistle which got some the HC faithful mad. All in retalitory in nature. SHould he have done it? No, has to control it, but like I said in my first post, people are going to push the enevelope with him and officials need to stop it in the first quarter rather than calling every foul in the fourth.

Since we are on elbows being thrown...HC threw quite a few last night, one wild one sent Nate Edmondson to the deck...and a myriad of others were thrown. Even if it doesn't make contact, it is supposed to be called. Not sure if it is a technical or an offensive foul. They got away with a bunch.

Simple, the officals need to restrict physical play. Call it early and call it quick. End it before too much happens.

I thought Duran Jefferson played well...simply locked up whoever he was guarding. Hill played well as well.

All I have read since even before the season got underway is about Rice and the various problems he seems to have controlling his temper. The coach needs to step up and put this kid in street clothes for a few games and let him watch what he's going to be missing if he can't get his act together. Nothing counts until the District Tourney anyway so give him a wake up call now. See if he can figure it out. No chance of that though is there. it's all about winning.

Outside of the PC game this year, all seems to have gone well. Even Coach Henley admitted that was the worst game they have played since he had been at Holmes in all facets of the game.

The margin of victory is where I expected it to be maybe a little more, but 29 points... that needs to be fixed before region play starts strong.

He is lucky no ref saw it or he would have been in the showers. I'm one of Rice's biggest fans, but fact is he does the same thing every game and someone needs to control it.

 

The elbows you speak of HC throwing were on in the flow of the game. If you know basketball, a basketball player is allowed his space is allowed to clear his space with his pivot foot. Edmonson was cleared out, he was in the players space and was pivoted out. I don't know where you were taught basketball but that is how I was taught and how I coach the kids I teach.

Throwing out false facts. HC missed 14 in the first half. 5 in the first quarter, and the first quarter ended with HC only down four.

Holmes was best team on the floor period. HC can't beat them shooting the ball from feild and free throw line the way they did. They won't beat CCH or NCC shooting that way either.

 

But anyone who was at the game last night and I don't know if anyone else was, b ut that was the ugliest game from both sides. I doubt Holmes uses this game as a building block. The 2nd half had the flow to it at all, they stopped play ever 30 seconds to wipe off the floor. It was terrible.

:thumb: Fair enough. Honestly I really don't care about the outcome of the game between these two. As others have said they are playing for the 3rd and 4th seed in the district and a 1 and out tourney appearance.

You can clear space, by a myriad of methods, step through, rip through, ball tucked beneath chin, elbows out, but by no means can you swing elbows.

The kid that sent Edmondson to the deck fired a wild elbow.

Happened right in front of me.

There were others...

HC is a decent team, that has to hit open shots to beat good teams, because they are limited in other areas.

They didn't get a whole lot of open looks Saturday.
