Melky Cabrera.....He Gone!

He's at least had similar #'s to this.
4years ago, guy's 35. This guy was seriously about to be cut in May according to Hal McCoy on Reds Live, Votto goes down and he's the best hitter in baseball. Am happy for him because he seems like a good guy, but just sayin'. Just could be the Reds magic for this season.:idunno:

I've never seen anything where Ludwick was close to being cut. If McCoy said it, he was probably just saying what he would do. Playing in PETCO really messed with Ludwick. That was the biggest reason for his drop off.

Very good point. McCoy had his "inside sources". You have to admit he was really bad the first 2+ Months of the season though to out performing Albert Pujols since the All Star break.

I think it's a fair question. 2008 was the only other year he had that compares to this year as far as power numbers.

On a side note if we can contribute Melky's year to PED's then any chance he wasn't juicing last year as well? Other then batting AVG his numbers are very similar.

Not sure how he determined it, but Darren Rovell said this could end up costing Cabrera $40-$50 million.

That's way to much IMO. Someone is still going to pay him a decent amount of money next year. Most people thought he was looking at deals in the range of 4-6 years and 35-50M. I think he will still get pretty good offers.

Still, even if that number is cut in half, that is a big chunk of change. So, Melky, was it worth it?

It was absolutely worth it.

He left millions of dollars on the table. But he may have also made millions of dollars because of his use. I guess there is no way to determine the effect it has had on his play, but it could be argued either way.

I figured something was wrong hes always been kinda average. He and Ryan Braung can have a burger and watch the Reds in the playoff now. So glad Brewers 19 out lol.

I hear that Ryan Braung is a pretty good player even at the start of his career.

Actually he probably didn't. He was going to get a contract regardless. The contract would have been based on his average career to date. After the last two years that contract would have gone up alot. Now it obvious who the real Melky is and his contract will reflect that. If we assume the PED's are responsible for his improvment then we have to assume without them the last 2 years would have been in line with the rest of his carerr.
