Behind the scenes, the Reds believe Joey Votto could return during their series at Philadelphia next Monday-Thursday but that a more realistic goal is the St. Louis series (Aug. 24-26) in Cincinnati. Regardless, the Reds continue to exceed expectations without the injured Votto (left knee). The Reds are 19-8 since Votto left the lineup July 16, and entered Monday’s off day with a 4 ½-game lead over second-place Pittsburgh in the NL Central.

It said 7-10 additional days. Sure there's doubt about Frazier moving full time to 3rd. Rolen was playing very well.

Rolen has been playing very well, but he can't keep this up for 2 more months. He needs a well-planned 15 day trip to the DL so he's able to contribute through the playoffs.

I agree, I don't want to see Votto come back before he is ready, however I have tickets to the games against the Cards on the 25th and 26th and if he is back it would make that series more interesting.

Yes. Rolen will be the guy even though he's pretty much proven not to be as good as Frazier at the plate and that if he plays too many times in a couple weeks he can't stay healthy. It is very telling though to me that when both are in the lineup Rolen hits in front of Frazier.

And he played too often and is hurt again. Also lets not pretend that Frazier isn't hitting well post break. His 5 HR's are tied for 2nd on the team since the break and he has had far more power and far better numbers all year than Rolen. Isn't it more likely Rolen got hot rather than thinking he will hit .358 the rest of the way? Meanwhile Frazier is .284 post all star break and .280 all year meaning maybe he is around a .280 hitter.

Bruce should be embarrased that a journeyman(Ludwick) has led this team since Votto went down, he's hands down the most disappointing Red this season, followed by Mesorasco(thought he would blow up this season)
