August 26, 201214 yr My understanding of the NKY youth league is that it's all politics and $$$$. In my 6 years around the league, I would definitely agree. The one thing I would add to that is the ego's of the coaches. There's a reason why numbers are down, and middle schools are the choice of 13-14 year olds. Just watch all the screaming and yelling that take place on the sidelines of NKYFL games. It's not every team and league, but many of them.
August 31, 201214 yr Author Are we really keeping score at starter level games?? This super competitiveness in the NKYFL is why many kids end up quitting football. It should be about teaching kids to play football at this level. I see too many kids spending way too much time on the sidelines at these games. Not saying this is what's happening at SK, I just see too much of it in general in the NKYFL. They will be keeping score in the Bellevue Bowl. South Kenton plays on the 12th should be a fun night.

There are actually two distinct "Bowls" for the starter division...the Bellevue Bowl, which I believe is like an invitational and when we played, included teams from both the NKYFL and the Boone County league...and then there's the Starter Bowl...which when we played were "Bowl" games for the Kenton County starter teams...South Kenton, Raiders, Spartans, Erlanger Lions...that may have changed as we've been out of it for a couple of years. But they are the cutest games to watch (I'm a mom...to survive football, it needs to be cute somehow) and the kids get so excited playing under the lights...I almost miss those days...

September 5, 201214 yr Author Hats off to the Spartans for agreeing to play South Kenton this Sunday at Beechwood should be a good one. We was suppose to play a Boone County Pee Wee team but all of their teams backed out. Guess their coaches got tired of losing and throwing clip boards.
September 6, 201214 yr uk#1fan, did they backed out or did NKYFL decide to cancel remaining games with BCPWFL due to injuries to the smaller players in the NKYFL. I heard that there were a few serious injuries a few weeks ago. I am not involved with NKYFL much and had heard someone talk about one evening last week. JD

JD There is no more weight limit in the NKYFL, only to run the ball. I heard the BCPWFL had an issue with a few of the teams being too aggressive. I also heard there were some things said in the stands and things of that nature..
September 6, 201214 yr Now from what I heard it was a junior player for lions who got rocked by a BCPWFL line man 3 times his size, kid was in hospital with concussion and possible spinal problem. I have not heard anything else. When I coached we only played BCPWFL in an All Star game at the end of the season. JD
