Seriously, it's irrelevant IMO because they are so specific to a few key groups that the only way to read it is how I've read it. Why would they be so specific? Why remove the 5 days? What is special about Sunday that they thought they need it to be changed? You can't ignore those specific points. Your question is perfect if the thread was about the concept of new voter laws. This isn't that.

The first is talking about a list of voters that were incorrectly identified as felons. I didn't read the second because of the title. Both were nothing more than opinion pieces and neither addressed any of the issues you brought and I asked about. 8 is a thinkprogress article that I already said I read that did nothing to support your cliams. 11 was my post where I quoted your #8 post.

I said that my original claim was wrong regarding the DMV because the law initially passed was overturned by the state courts. So what is your issue ?

July 31, 201214 yr How can we assume? Well, the black churches are much more unified in their efforts as far as getting the flock to the polls. Seems pretty straight forward. Days: One more attempt to make it harder for a a group that the President won in 2008. I'm not sure of the reason given. I can't imagine a logical one . As to the "will it make a difference" question the obvious response is why did they feel the need to change it NOW? If you don't see that it's an attempt to make it more difficult and it is in response to 2008 then I don't know if there's much more I can say to change your mind. Again, while we can say all have to live by the same voting rules and use that as our basis for saying there is no underlying intent I would argue that's being naive since these new laws are not fixing any known issue. So was part of the law saying black church goers could only vote on Sunday while at the same time outlawing voting on Sunday? How is cutting the early voting from 15 to 10 going to make it any harder. The vast majority of the voting population manages to get it done in 12 hours times. And were supposed be concerned with not getting it done in 10 days? No idea why they felt the need to change it now. It was implemented last year. How long have they been trying to get it pushed through. Maybe swamprat can shed some light on this topic. I never said it wasn't in repsonse to the 2008 election. I'm asking you not to go all mt ref on us and actually provide some facts evidence instead of your assumptions. One more time I will ask, how many voter fraud cases do we need before law changes are ok? Do we have to wait for it to happen before we make the changes? Or do we have a responsibility to close any possible loop holes?

In Miami-Dade County, “1,638 people were flagged by the state as ‘noncitizens.’ Already, 359 people on the list have provided the county with proof of citizenship and 26 people were identified as U.S. citizens directly by the county. The remaining 1,200 have simply not responded to the letter informing them of their purported ineligibility. Similar problems have been identified in Polk County and Broward County,” the liberal ThinkProgress website reports. The 1200 that did not respond, can we assume at least a portion of these names are not legal to vote and therefore the purge did it's job in this example? I haven't read all of the links but will try tonight.

August 1, 201214 yr Until I see a sign that says blacks and Hispanics are not allowed to vote then I don't agree with anything the government tries to do, the Obama government is trying to just let everyone vote, legal or not. It isn't hard to get to vote, go register and get your ID if you don't have one.
