The 64th District has Ashland, Boyd County, Fairview, and Rose Hill. At this point in the season, three of the four are legitimate contenders for the Regional title, and Rose Hill is on the rise.

 

I'm not saying this is the strongest district in the state (far from it), but it has to be one of the most balanced.

Should make for a good tournament. Too bad that at least one good team will only last one game in the post season.

57th is probably more balanced and competitive

Johnson Cent. 2-1

Magoffin 0-3 but close losses

 

3 maybe 4 have a shot at region title but Magoffin my crash the party

Yeah, after looking at the KHSAA webssite though the 64th will also be very entertaining

Forget the 64th. The whole 16th Region is wide open!! Bath over Elliott, Elliott over Greenup Co., and Fairview. Fariview over Ashland, Boyd Co. over Ashland, and Russell. Russell playing super good,and really bad. Raceland over Rowan Co. twice and then Rowan over Elliott. Boyd loses 4 of 5!! Who is the clear favorite of the 16th Region.

35th has to be up there. Holmes, Covington Catholic, and Holy Cross are contenders for the 'ship, and Beechwood is not far behind.

Good question. It will certainly be interesting in another 30 or 40 days, when they have the drawing for the District.

 

I honestly don't know that there is a "Good Draw" to be had.

In answer to Play 2 Win's question, from my research I believe that the last time Ashland failed to go to the regional tournament was in 1958. BTW beat Ashland in the semi-finals and Holy Family defeated BTW for the championship. The tournament was played at Russell since the district was made up, I believe, of all high schools in Boyd County and Greenup County and, since this was before consolidation, there were a goodly number. In the A.I.T. (it may have been called the Greenbo Tournament back then) played in the Ashland Armory in December of 1957, Holy Family defeated Ashland in the first round (48-37). Therefore, it could be said that Ashland was actually the number three team in the city for the 1957-1958 season.
