July 27, 201214 yr Remember that crazy start Hamilton had? The regression is coming and it's going to be at a terrible time for the Pirates. The Pirates already have to be concerned about McDonald and the drop off in his performance his last few starts.
July 27, 201214 yr Cincy is 4-5 against the Pirates. I'm not sure how you consider that kicking their butts, but whatever. I personally don't think Wandy makes their rotation a whole lot better. He's a slight upgrade but not much. You're judging their 'stud minor leaguer' being helpful after one game. Enough said... Cincy has the second best ERA in MLB so I'm not sure how you can say the Pirates pitching is better. Andrew McCuthchen isn't going to continue to hit .447 the rest of the year like he did in July... You shouldn't worry about the Pirates anyway. The Cardinals are your real competition, right?
July 27, 201214 yr You shouldn't worry about the Pirates anyway. The Cardinals are your real competition, right? I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but yeah, I'm not overly concerned with the Pirates. Cutch isn't going to keep hitting near .500, McDonald has been in sharp decline his last couple starts, and guys like Walker and Alvarez have been white hot recently. Count me as one who would be more concerned about the Cards.
July 27, 201214 yr You shouldn't worry about the Pirates anyway. The Cardinals are your real competition, right? Still a lot of season left. I could be wrong but personally I'm more worried about the Cardinals than the Pirates. Pittsburgh was 1.5 games out on this date last year. They finished 24 games out...

They finished 24 games out... Pittsburgh was only 4 games over .500 at this point last season. They are 14 games over today. Big difference.
July 27, 201214 yr Pittsburgh was only 4 games over .500 at this point last season. They are 14 games over today. Big difference. Like I said, a lot of baseball left. No chance that offense stays this hot.
July 27, 201214 yr Who is from St. Xavier? Sorry for the misinformation (and the absence from the thread). I must have done a "mind-meld" between Chris Burke and Hunter Pence when they were both in Houston in 2007. Burke faded away and Pence emerged. I have thought since then that Pence was from Louisville. I stand corrected.
