Instead of failing to run any semblance of an offense for 16 seconds only to have Kobe go iso with no time left on the shot clock won't happen nearly as much as it did last season.

July 5, 201214 yr Following PP and HT on twitter I would've thought this was 2005. :lol: This is an instant upgrade, but let's not get carried away guys. This does not make them instant title contenders. Nash is old and has had trouble staying healthy, Mike Brown doesn't exactly run an offensive style condusive to his game, and you've still got the big softy down low in Pau.
July 5, 201214 yr Nash will make Pau good again. Nash will also be able to get Bynum the ball in those situations when Bynum couldn't get the ball when or where he wanted. History has shown Nash can make big men look good. Now he has two skilled big men. The pick and roll in LA will be deadly. Nash is no spring chicken but he can still play. He's also not going to be asked to carry the team which will be less taxing mentally and physically. I'd say he'll be rested accordingly. I'm more concerned about how long it will take Nash and Kobe to gel. That may take longer than anything else. I think they'll make it work. Instant title contenders? Absolutely, IMO. Wednesday morning the Lakers weren't even a legitimate title contender. Not even in the discussion. IF healthy they are the second best team on paper in the West. As I mentioned, they gave away two games against OKC and part of it is due to shoddy point guard play and still lost the last 3 games by a combined 8 points. In Mike Brown's first year. It's not like they got ran off of the court. The addition of Nash makes them smarter. That has to count for something. Derrick Fisher, Steve Blake, Ramon Sessions.....the last 3 Laker point guards. Give me a 38 year old Steve Nash all day. *Nash averaged 12.5 pts and 10.7 assists last year. Shot 53% from the floor and 89% from the FT line. I'll take that point guard production in LA all day every day. Word. * In Phoenix. With a bunch of bums.:lol:
July 5, 201214 yr This puts me in a bind. I'm a huge Steve Nash fan, love the guy, but I am not in any way a Lakers fan. I'm going to have to figure this out emotionally :idunno:
July 6, 201214 yr This certainly makes the Lakers better. I doubt it is enough to get Kobe #6 though. I think it will be fun to watch Nash play with Kobe and Pau. There will be some adjustment for some of these guys though. Kobe's used to dominating the ball. Nash is used to an up-tempo free-flowing offense. Bynum is a traditional big man who plants his roots on the block and waits for the ball. I think Pau can adapt his game to play with anybody, and he's got the personality to do it. He may be the guy that makes it all work.
