It's a double-edged sword. One of the reasons it's dropping is lower demand. Lower demand mainly stems from a struggling economy. So, when the economy gets going again we won't see $3.00.

What is the net profit gas companies like Chevron and Exxon on a per gallon basis?

Best guesses , please.

Usually summer has a higher demand due to travel for vacations.

True on the price

True on the price

Demand doesn't rise enough in the summer to offset the impact of the overall economy.

I'd guess .10 or .15
I'd guess .10 or .15

.02

However, when you talk of .02 of billions and billions of gallons of petroleum, it adds up rather nicely!

Federal government takes 18 cents per gallon. So they are the real 'money makers'.

Of course this is supposed to pay for infrastructure. With consumption way down the roads funds must be hurting badly.

Not too happy with the Shell station in Wilder about a mile south of 275. Passed it last night and noticed $3.23, went there today and that price is if you get a car wash! Who really cares? So if you fill up you are basically getting a free car wash. Just think it's deceptive, and went up to the UDF which was the same price as Shell if you did not get the wash.

Is it .029? :)
