The E-7 was in his glove and he just dropped it. If you call it a hit, then I am sorry but you are not excepting what we are expecting from our players in catching a ball!

So because the batter struck our later on the play, you are not calling it an error? Again I am sorry but a pop up that should have been caught regardless it if turns into a K later is still an error! The ball should have been caught!

I guess my expectational of what CovCarth players should or shouldn't catch are higher than other teams!

So one error really had no effect on play since the batter was later retired? Also, you do not charge an error on a bad throw for failing to complete a double play. As long as the first out is recorded you cannot assume the double play.

 Think I was pretty clear that I said I didn't see the play, I took the word of a couple Ryle players that it was a hit. If you say it bounced out of his glove, so be it, not arguing. We actually call plays like that an error at Ryle as well. I am well aware that CCH is in a very special elite status that defines acceptable play at a much higher level than every other team in NKY. Thank you for reminding us.

As far as the dropped foul pop up, again, so what? Had absolutely zero impact on that at-bat and was, as I said, a very, very difficult catch looking straight into the sun. Again, I realize there are no exceptions/mitigations allowed for any defensive miscues by a Colonel defender, but this was a very tough play. Ask your first baseman.

Ultimately, however, your implied point in your first post that Ryle was only able to win this game because it was given away by CCH due to a plethora of errors is simply not accurate. In a game in which neither team was particularly impressive in the field, Ryle simply pitched a little better and hitter a little better and deserved the win.

Correct you are unless of course it was a muff play! Rule 10.12(d) Comment: When a fielder muffs a thrown ball that, if held, would have completed a double play or triple play, the official scorer shall charge an error to the fielder who drops the ball and credit an assist to the fielder who made the throw.

BTW were you at the game?

I was there. I don't recall the 1Bman muffing the thrown ball. I recall the SS's throw pulling the 1Bman off the bag.

Lets look at what I said!

Ryle 6 CovCath 5

Congrats to the Raiders and their seniors on the win today on the Ryle Raiders Senior Day.

I have said all year, to win this year, you have to have pitching and play "D" and today CovCath didn't play "D" as they had six errors and I could have given them a seventh but for a bad hop single. You can't win games when you give the other team so many extra chances at the plate.

Tomlin took the loss but he and Fagel deserved better from their teammates today!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Congrats to the Ryle players and their Seniors.... No problem so far, correct?

Fact CovCath had a total of six error and indeed I could have given them a seventh but didn't!

Call it how you want to but CovCath had a total of six errors! So what is the problem?

I said that Fagel and Tomlin deserves better from their teammates! Fact, first run unearned! Sixth run unearned! For this team at least, that is unacceptable!

So what is the problem?

I was at Somerset's game. And I don't need a scoring lesson. However, perhaps you need some help describing what happened. You see you clearly listed the error above as an E-6 on the the throw, not an E-3 on the catch. Perhaps before you copy such a condescending tone you should read your own posts. I know the official scoring rules, well enough that a lesson from you will be of no use to me.

That had to be Tomlin's mom!

Tomlin's mom wasn't there. :p

Hey Coop, you know those would have been credited as hits if CCH was at bat!

But then again we will never know what Beechood does because you refuse to post anything about them even on the Cincinnati Enquirer stats.. Why is that?

I need to set the record straight. Indeed it was not an error on the CovCath SS, however the run was unearned as the runner who did score in that inning, reached base via an error, to lead off the inning.

Honestly Coop, you took my first post completely wrong, and I am sorry you took it that way.

CovCath lost, it happens but they indeed played poorly in the field and all you have to do is look at the score book to see that. Five errors and whether or not any of them mattered (2 runs were unearned 1st & 6th innings) it sets a tone for the game that hurts a team!

It was indeed a fun game to watch in spite of many mistakes by both teams. CovCath still remains the favorite to win the region and only the biggest homer would argue that point based on the Colonels' body of work this season. However, on a given day, there will be 5 other teams IMHO in that regional tourney that could dethrone the favorite. Ryle has a chance to be one of those 5 teams, assuming the Raiders take care of business vs. Cooper on Monday. CovCath - Ryle regular season games are behind us and both are very fine ball clubs. On to Cooper. Go Raiders and congrats on a nice win.

Was not at the game.

my two cents.......Would rather have CCH's scoring guy score the 36th and last regular game of the year with the same consistency as he scored the first and every other. Ryle statistician can score as he/she so desires, consistent with how they have done it all year.

Until KHSAA assigns a specifc scoring person, the only stat that matters is the final score....and with that, Congrats to Ryle and Coach R on a big win on Senior night.

After seeing you at Barleycorns I must say, I pity the Mrs or was that your girlfriend that you were with?

The poor women couldn't wait until you shut up, so she could leave!

As usual the information you give is incorrect as the Tomlins were at the JV game and not at the Varsity game!

I think you have the wrong guy there TOG. I was nowhere near Barleycorn's. Plus, i don't have a clue as to who you are.

As far as the Tomlin's mother, it was a joke not to be taken seriously but I know Coop and others have your feathers ruffled b/c of your scorekeeping.

But then again we will never know what Beechood does because you refuse to post anything about them even on the Cincinnati Enquirer stats.. Why is that?

Again you have the wrong guy. I believe the BW scorekeeper is Brills. Talk with him!

As someone who prides themselves on being able to properly score a game I can tell you TOG and Coop are on top of it. I didn't see the E7 because people were in front of me. I'll go with him if he says it was an error. I didn't have an error on the SS or E3 on the almost DP because I thought F3 had to go get the ball a bit.

It does though show you that sometimes a play isn't an error yet it should have been made. Ryle had 2 plays in the first inning that should have been made but went for hits. CCH had the missed DP. E on the throw in the first by Lankheit should not have been an error. One of the two infielders has to knock that throw down. They didn't. E2. Couple that with errors and both teams are shaking their heads.

Again, key part of the game was Ryle scoring 3 on 5 straight hits after the first two batters got out. Huge.

Two good teams who need to make plays better.
