I need to set the record straight. Indeed it was not an error on the CovCath SS, however the run was unearned as the runner who did score in that inning, reached base via an error, to lead off the inning.

 

Honestly Coop, you took my first post completely wrong, and I am sorry you took it that way.

 

CovCath lost, it happens but they indeed played poorly in the field and all you have to do is look at the score book to see that. Five errors and whether or not any of them mattered (2 runs were unearned 1st & 6th innings) it sets a tone for the game that hurts a team!

 

Fair enough and I'm sure you're right. Just mistakenly got the impression that Ryle wasn't being given their fair due over what qualifies as their biggest win on the season to date. Probably was already a little sensitive about it given the silly state rankings. :sssh:

 

And, for the record, I'm not saying that CCH's fielding did not have anything to do with their loss/Ryle's win. Clearly it did. Just that, in totality, the game wasn't served on a silver platter to Ryle and that they did indeed earn what is a nice win for them.

As someone who prides themselves on being able to properly score a game I can tell you TOG and Coop are on top of it. I didn't see the E7 because people were in front of me. I'll go with him if he says it was an error. I didn't have an error on the SS or E3 on the almost DP because I thought F3 had to go get the ball a bit.

 

It does though show you that sometimes a play isn't an error yet it should have been made. Ryle had 2 plays in the first inning that should have been made but went for hits. CCH had the missed DP. E on the throw in the first by Lankheit should not have been an error. One of the two infielders has to knock that throw down. They didn't. E2. Couple that with errors and both teams are shaking their heads.

 

Again, key part of the game was Ryle scoring 3 on 5 straight hits after the first two batters got out. Huge.

 

Two good teams who need to make plays better.

 

Without question. And, should either of these teams end up representing the 9th region at state, will HAVE to make such plays if they want to have any success at Whitaker Bank ballpark.

Wow interesting thread to read. Its just One game fellas out of 36 relax and Im sure the kids feel bad enough making the errors and dont need to be reminded they screwed up.

 

Both teams are going to be right there vying for a Regional crown.
