Who would you like to see get the job. Who do you think deserves it. Who would your top 5 be?

Greg had on his FB page that he was coming out of retirement. I think that would be a steal for Lynn Camp. Sams could make a run at it, I think without a big turn around at NL Larkey and Company could be shown the door, so Sams would be looking.

 

Knowing the NL program considering I have family there, Larkey has had one good class since he has been there, he has had some good players but no depth or enough good players to compliment the others. He also inherited two straight terrible classes. I have seen many practices while waiting for family and killing time, trust me, the coaches havent had a lot to work with. Anyone who knows football at NL will agree. From what I hear they are doing some really good things there and if they get rid of them, they are making a big mistake.

ff, I would like to see someone who cares about the kids and the school get the job. If they are in it for the wins and losses only this is going to be a nightmare for them IMO.

 

You know and I know this is not an attractive job for most folks, so if someone is coming in here and taking the job and expecting to get things done like at traditional programs or with a "my way or the highway" mentallity they will be in for a huge suprise. Hard to play football, much less win, when you don't have the numbers.

 

That said, I would like to see a young coach take it over. Someone with some sort of tie to the school or Knox County anyway. Someone like Burg has in Herron or KC has in Russell (he was an asst under Wayne).

A top 5 would be hard to pick because of the situation over here, following Dave and our current administration woes. This will be a situation where you have to go with whoever has any interest in it. I do not seeing this being a fun job for the coach or an easy transition for the kids.

Duncum may be as good a fit as you could hope for. Kids seem to like and also respect him, which will be an important asset for a coach to have when stepping into this situation. I think that he would need to try and get the asst. coaches would were loyal to Mitchell to stay, which would help to ease the transition for the players, coaches and supporters.

 

We all need to realize that the entire area will be better served if Lynn Camp can turn it around and be successful, both academically and athletically.

LC will turn around athletically long before they turn around academically. Only salvation for LC and KC is state intervention. IMO Band aids are in place, bailing wire holds strategic parts together, blinders are firmly set and yes men/women are always there to tell the Super exactly what he wants to hear. Nero fiddles a tune as Rome come precariously closer to it's demise.

They need to talk to someone from Whitley County, who was in a similar situation 20-25 years ago, and try to emulate what they did to turn their school system around. The demographics and socioeconomic factors of the two are comparable, no reason, besides the poor leadership you mention, why the Knox County system cannot achieve similar success.

 

I believe that Hulett has gained support in Knox County due to leading the fight against the Corbin School system and the reciprocal agreement, a fight I feel like he more than likely instigated to get that support. He really has no vested interest in Knox County, he is just cashing a check and spending their money.

IMO The powers that be (at LC anyway) are not going to stand up to Hulett. Someone may just take their cushy position if they rock the boat.

I cannot see anyone from Knox talking to anyone else about how to fix things.

They might be proven wrong and we can't have the infalibility of the high and mighty Knox County educational elite threatened like that! God forbid someone could show us how to fix this thing over here. This thing, in my prediction, gets driven into the ground beyond repair, the perpetrators are scattered and the state takes over. I honestly do not know how some of the Demigods over here can look at themselves in the mirror. I think it is near critical mass. The sooner that the state says enough, the better.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I like Mrs. Bays, Mr. Pentington, and most of the staff at the LC schools. While I agree there is some deadwood on the faculty, I've been impressed with some of the young blood that's been hired recently and I think a turnaround is beginning. However, don't expect it to be overnight. School system politics is a slow process. (We agree on that point)

 

Btw, I know and like Dave Mitchell. What he has done there in the past has at times been phenomenal. I also strongly support Hulett's stand on the reciprocal agreement with Corbin. Although I'm not privy to the inner workings of the administration, it does appear that since the issue with Corbin Ind. began, the Knox system has bent over backwards to give LC whatever it needs.

It is not a matter of liking or not liking. It is a matter of not getting it done. Hulett has had more than enough time to do some things that are not getting done. We are backing up, not moving forward. It is not a matter of popularity, it is a matter of not getting it done. Hulett PROMISED the schools would be at the top academically in 5 years. Like him or not, it was a promise that was made and at some point you have to hold a person accountable for their position. Dave Mitchell has been held responsible for his in public, it is time for the others to be held accountable for their failures also.

 

I personaly think there will be more that comes out of this firing, it will just take more time to get it all out. In the end, Coach will not be the only person held responsible in this incident IMO.

 

You may feel like you are getting all you want out of your educational tax money, but I do not see it the same way. We'll have to agree to disagree about how these folks are attempting to educate kids and failing miserably at running a school system.

I know, CITH, I saw that too. Knox County has never, and never will, bend over backwards for LC. LC will bend over for Knox County, but the County does not even seem to look over its shoulder at LC, much less bend over backwards, go the extra mile, roll up their sleeves and fix this, enter your own cliche here. I really don't understand what Knox Co. has to gain by refusing to sign the reciprocal agreement. The vast majority of the kids will continue to attend Corbin one way or another, so why not put their resources into improving the school system and give the parents a reason to send them to Knox instead of trying to force them.

 

Corbin Independent could come up with some type of compromise where they reimburse Knox Co. a portion of the money they feel as though they are losing, not sure of the legalities of this though.
