So................ reading through this thread so far there is something coming from an outsider that sorta jumps off the screen that should throw up red flags and sound the sirens.

Well, some seasons the RAMS have a decent sized Freshmen class; other years, not so much. Probably the biggest reason for the small schedule would be due to the class size, but also people have to remember that Raceland is one of the smaller schools in Class A, so alot of those freshmen also have to play JV ball, not to mention some actually see significant time on the varsity level. Most schools would never have to use freshmen on the varsity or JV level much, if at all. Also, believe it or not, sometimes it is hard to schedule a lot of freshmen games with different teams for various reasons.

A valid point Sweep. There are several reasons for that. Like CA said, we are a small school and all the freshmen play JV also. We just throw in most of the sophomores and that is our JV. We rarely have any Juniors on our JV, most Juniors are expected to play significant time on the varsity. And, the last several years, our freshmen and sophomores have been great classes and made significant contributions on the varsity. And, believe it or not, we have trouble scheduling freshmen games, many of the schools in our area do not have enough numbers to field a freshmen only team, that is 1A, 3A, 4A, and even 5A. We have decent numbers for a 1A school, but many of the larger schools in the area do not.

Having 4 freshman games scheduled would not be a concern for me! Being a single A school and having a freshman team in Eastern Ky is an accomplishment! I know several larger schools that don't have a freshman team and some don't even play a full JV schedule. Freshman games can be picked up anytime. If they decide they have the numbers and want to play more, they could easily add more games.

Pick-six, that is exactly right, and the way we see it is, in reality our freshmen have 11 games due to the fact that they will be playing significant time in all the JV games as well.

 

At a small school, the freshmen year is the toughest year of a player's career, they play a freshmen schedule, all JV games, and are expected to be a big part of the scout team in all varsity practices and dress and possible play some special teams on the varsity. That is a lot for a freshmen team and they get a lot of experience.

And the linemen had a great camp at Down and Dirty as well. Many coaches from other schools and colleges were very complimentary of our linemen.

Saw the Rams at EKU camp. Very Impressed with the number and quality of Racelands players. These Kids will have a good year. QB looked good throws a very good Ball. Good Luck on the Season.

Yes sir. Fire Trucks are a part of the show. You will have to come to a game.
