Very sad to hear. One of my all time favorite players. I don't think we can come to a conclusion brain injuries are to blame. Many people commit suicide every day and I would venture to say most did not even play football. There are many reasons people take their own lives. I saw where the family doesn't blame football and may not let them do research on his brain.

Talked to someone tonight who has a relative that lives in SD and in his posse of friends the rumor is that Seau was doing blow and creeping on young girls in recent months. In fact one story was he reserved a masseuse to come to his house and when she walked in he was naked and wanted her to have sex with him. This is info from a circle of dudes that live out there and they see and hear what we see and here in Cincinnati with professional athletes. The guy obviously had some issues.

Same here, and I broke down one night and told my mom what scared me the most is she reminded me so much of my sister. Fortunately my sister has my nephew now and I know she would never hurt him, but it's still scary when that thought goes through your mind. Honestly I was just really disgusted and ticked off the first few days and now all I can think about in both instances is the families, just seems so selfish to put them through that, and maybe my thought process in selfish for thinking like that. I guess it's like they say "you never know until you walk a mile in their shoes".

And I mean no disrespect to anyone who's had to deal with someone they know or loved taking their own life, but it's my personal opinion that suicide is the most selfish act an individual could ever take.

 

I think the game will drastically change and this will be the driving force. It was going to change dramatically eventually anyway. This will speed that process though IMO.

 

I may be a bit of a pessimist, but I don't really think this will change much, or speed anything up. Come football season, outside of maybe the first game in San Diego when they do something to honor him, this will all but be forgotten. We will be too wrapped up in our Fantasy Football teams to think twice about it.

Word is that the family has decided to allow Junior's brain to be studied.

Hearing Marcellus Wiley open up about all of this was tough. But I think his story about how Junior would never let the team doctors/trainers help him out in the training room tells a lot about this. I'm no psychologist but that story falls right in line with this. Sounds like Junior had an extremely strong shell, but was a lot weaker on the inside than anyone knew and he wouldn't ever let anyone seet that.

 

That was hard to listen to. So much pain and sorrow in his words. I feel terrible for all the family and friends. Could this be the straw that broke the camels back in regards to the NFL and head injuries?

I was driving to Louisville listening to Mike and Mike and they played the clips of Marcellus talking about it. Just about had me in tears, was definitely hard to listen to.

I'm not sure the current players think too much about older guys and their health. Current players know Seau and it will get them thinking. Or at least that's how I'm looking at it.
