I think it'll happen eventually at some point in time, but all in all, I'd have to guess it's not on Cov Cath's list of things to do to create another series of games with a lower division team, seeing as they already have long-standing rivalries with Beechwood and New Cath.

 

I think it makes sense for CCH to schedule HC. Put it this way, CCH should definitely schedule HC before they get another GCL team or T and/or X.

I would really like to see an HC/CCH battle at least once, if they play in every other sport why not football?

 

 

If Holy Cross has sustained success at the level they've achieved the last couple of years, then I think a game with CovCath would be inevitable. Until then, as already mentioned I don't think this is very high on the Colonels priority list.

You could argue that, yeah. Makes some sense. I'd say there are a lot more teams - a la Boyle County, Lex Cath, Lafayette, Eastern, Bryan Station, or a regular season matchup against Ashland Paul Blazer, or Johnson Central - that would be a bigger benefit overall to Cov Cath's schedule than Holy Cross.

I'm not sure how much arrogance played a part in CovCath's schedule over the years. It's not like NKY teams have been waiting in line to get CovCath on their schedule in the last 25 years. Off the top of my head, they've had series' end with Boone, Campbell County, Ryle, NCC, Sk, and Conner during that time. Some are back on their schedule, but when those series ended, they had to go find someone to play.

 

I agree with your second statement, in regards to GCL schools. Although I think LaSalle is a better game for CCH this year than a game with Holy Cross would be. Which leads me to the question, who would you replace on this year's schedule to make room for Holy Cross?

I'm not sure how much this game would excite the CovCath community though. Likely would affect the non-student gate.

 

I'm also not sure how much CovCath actually competes with HC for football players. And, I'm not sure if scheduling someone just to brain them is the best thing for a program.

 

Like I said, if HC continues their current level of success, the game makes a lot of sense to me. Until then, not so much. And, i don't think HC is in any hurry to schedule the game anyway.

I certainly see your argument, and I think it would be a good thing to do for one or two years - particularly if it's an early season game. But I'd have to think it could also do them a fair amount of good to get a look at other teams closer to their playing level in the other areas of the state. Might help them iron out some issues like getting over the "how to beat Johnson Central" hump.

It's not like CCH has been ducking them. As I said earlier, if HC can maintain their recent level of success for a few more years, this game becomes much more enticing to me. And, becomes a game I think many more fans in the area would begin to expect to see.

You are exactly right about HC not wanting to play CCH starting off, and who would? Along the lines of size, I think that may be a good point because what would CCH have to gain from a win over a 2A school? I think if HC can continue to succeed over the next year or two this game will become a reality.

I am not saying I would replace anyone this year, what I am saying is when they have an opening on the schedule in the future they need to work hard at scheduling HC and whatever they do they should not add another big school that is going to pound them.
