In my teaching experience from 1978-2005, yes it has progressed just as the pictures indicate IMO. You still have parents today that hold thier child accountable....but over the years it is getting fewer and fewer.

You don't have to be a teacher to know those cartoons are true. It's the world we've created---too many people always looking to blame somebody else, taking the easy way out; the mirror is the last place many look.

Yes. I've taught for 9 years now and this is very true for today. I wasn't there in '61, but my parents always scolded me if I got in trouble, but it appears to be the opposite now.

Unfortunately, that is often the attitude of parents today.

Your exactly right. It is refreshing when a parent comes in and tells you to do whatever you need to get their child to perform.
