March 15, 201214 yr The sirens have gone off 4 times in Madison County in the past hour or so. This is getting stupid. I understand the use of sirens, but eventually it's like the boy who cried wolf. IMO, they should only be used for Tornado Warnings or in Madison County's case a gas leak at the Army Depot.

There was more than one severe thunderstorm in Madison County. One in the north county, one in the south and then one in the central part of the county. They were of the pop up variety. Severe thunderstorms can cause damage just like a tornado. Cloud to ground lightning, hail, straight line winds and microbursts come from these storms. What would you say if someone in your family got caught outside in one of these storms and got injured and there hadn't been a warning sounded?

I don't think the sirens should go off 4 times for that. I'm fine with the Sirens going off all they want on a day like there was a couple weeks ago. And I'm fine for the sirens going off once for a thunderstorm, just not 4 times.

They were sounded because of storms in other parts of the county. Not to mentioned it pops up on the TV and as far as I know everyone in Madison County has one of those boxes in their home that goes off when the sirens go off. It's pretty impossible to miss unless you're unconscious.

It's pretty impossible to miss unless you're unconscious. There are several different reasons someone might miss the Siren and last time I checked people don't watch tv 24/7. Who cares if it's annoying if it saves one person from an injury, or worse.

I've lived in Madison County my whole life and I've heard the sirens everytime they've gone off the first time, even if i'm sleeping, unless I'm not in the county. Madison County made sure their sirens are plenty loud enough for everyone to hear and like I said everyone was provided those home weather boxes, mostly incase there is a gas spill at the Army Depot. So I've learned to actually pay attention to the sirens, because I don't want to breathe nerve gas.

Radio stations break in with any warnings that are happening in the area. I simply dont think it's necessary to sound them more than once. And I'm guessing the overwhelming majority of people in Madison County agree with me.
