2024 Dixie Heights Colonels
GoBucks97 replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Football (High School)
Dixie has always had that potential of a program and outside of a few top end years they have struggled to consistently be a top football team in the area. And I know it was mentioned in the bball thread, but with their numbers and the amount of athletes that roam those halls it's inexcusable. Athletically as a whole being how big they have been for how long, they should have more hardware to show for it. -

There are athletes that are walking those halls not playing sports. My best friend was arguably the best quarterback of all time at Dixie, I've witnessed it all firsthand while also playing them as a rival. Dixie is known around for having a certain reputation off the field/court so yes maybe that contributes to pulling people in their district. At the end of the day one of the biggest schools in the area, that some years struggle to win district. Let alone advance in the regional. And to your point about the team a few years ago, that team was somewhat weak compared to most years and they still made it. But when you play in a district with all A schools and then get matched up with a runner up from a different district which is most likely an A school most years your gonna advance. They are for sure underachievers in my book, and sully would be an awesome hire to get them back rolling. He would be slot like Chevy, gonna run his system to a T and you're gonna play hard. Sub 10-11 guys and wear you down. He would do great at Dixie! -

What's harsh about it? Dixie has one regional once or twice while being one of the biggest schools in the state. And they play in a district with 4 other A schools. Well Lloyd has recently grown some, but still the same point. It should be regional final 4 for them at minimum every single year. That's just the facts. -
Read you post wrong. Didn't realize you said ground breaking thought I read grand opening!

So one last full season at the old field? Or will they play games at both this year?

This is what I'm starting to hear.

9th Region Off-Season Discussion (2024-2025)
GoBucks97 replied to se7ens's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Cooper will be the next vacancy. -
The Ludlow boys program is actually down if you asked me, scheduling has dropped off a ton and aren't really competing in district anymore. But you can probably say that for all the smaller schools. I think Aaron is a great coach and guy, does many of the right things you want a coach to do but like someone mentioned earlier has definitely benefitted from schedules throughout his career.

This might be unpopular but Crossing is gonna name the score in this one. They are way too athletic and big for Lyon. Even at the guard and wing positions, where it will help defending and closing out on some of the Lyon shooters. I don't know how Moreno doesn't have 30 rebounds this game, nobody on Lyon is above 6'4. And to that point Lyon County plays a zone defense without much ball pressure. How easy is it gonna be to dump the ball to Moreno and he just flick it over his shoulder because nobody else can even contest his floater? All he has to do is get to his spot and turn over his shoulder. Just a bad matchup.

Lol some guys on here are just so not clued in. I'm about to post the wing players he got commitments from. Both can shot, both can defend and both can play make. It's not the players or talent Cal is getting or passing up on. It's the lack of ideas, philosophy and adjusting that is doing him in. Is Noah maybe better than Perry? Yes I can be here for that argument. These two kids? Not a chance. -
Who will be the State Champion?
GoBucks97 replied to LouHSJunkie's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Newport without Taylen stands no chance IMO. And I'm a 9th region guy that watches them pretty often and want them to win. I think realistically it's 4 teams, Crossing overwhelming favorites. Lyon if they pulled the upset over them in the upper bracket. And then Evangel and Trinity winner will take home the bottom bracket. One of those 4 will win state, as long as Kinney doesn't play. If he does play that just bumps the list to 5.
