  1. Intriguing, *if* David Henley has thrown his hat in the ring. Not that it holds much water now, but IIRC there was a lot of mutual respect between Dan Tieman and Coach Henley. A nice add to any pool of applicants. Golly, @colonel-fan is right, this is a fun thread.
  2. πŸš€ H | Final from John Cropp Stadium at UK via the PrepSpin livestream. The Bluebirds struck in the first on an RBI double by Michelle Barth. The Rockets went deep for go-ahead ribbies in the second on a HR by Lauren Campisano and a 3B by Lauren Satterly. 6. πŸ“° Details in the peice @RedHawkmentioned ~ πŸ”΄ Great news; way to represent the Bluegrass young man! Newport's Kinney Going International? 7. 2️⃣ A well done account of yesterday's win with additional coverage of match results and CCH opponents St. Xavier and McCracken County. Interviews, pics, and more, from LinkNKY below ~ πŸ”— linknky.com/covcath-wins-state-tennis-title πŸ“° "The large banner proclaimed the University Kentucky's Back-2-Back Southeastern Conference men's tennis championships and the Wildcat's regular season title. Covington Catholic repurposed it Tuesday." πŸ”΅ News too, that Colonel senior Brady Hussey has committed to play tennis at the University of Dayton. πŸ“‹ The article notes there are ten players on Cov Cath's Varsity roster. I think it's worth noting there are 19 netters on the JV roster too. High participation rate for the school and a lot of competition for a chance to join the group pictured below. πŸ“Έ Ray Schaefer: Reporter LinkNKY
  8. πŸ†πŸŽΎ| University of Kentucky - Boone/Downing Tennis Complex πŸ“° "Cov Cath won the inaugural* state tournament for boys tennis teams with a 3-0 victory over McCracken County in the championship final on Tuesday afternoon at UK ..." πŸ”΅ Congratulations! 9. βš”οΈ Yes sir, he did. Senior year bio ~ "2014-15: Selected as a first-team All-American by 'Basketball Times ..." athletics.bellarmine.edu/sports/mens-basketball/roster/jake-thelen His current CV at Cincinnati ~ "... one season pro overseas ... assistant at St. Xavier (KY)" ... college staffs at IU, UGA, UC ... gobearcats.com/staff-directory/jake-thelen As others have stated, Jake checks all the boxes for the position. Seems a stretch hire from his recent trajectory, but who knows. Hasn't been an HC at any level yet, and here's an opportunity to stay local. One week, 17k πŸ‘€. πŸ“Έ David R. Lutman, to the C-J.
  10. Good stuff. Peter Green's guitar - sweet. I'm also a fan of the Bob Welch and Christine McVie transitional 'post-blues/pre-pop' era FM. "Hypnotized" shuffles through my YT playlists just right.
  11. β™ˆ Girls' meet ~ Manual exceeded expectations in earning their repeat win. Losing distance ace Jessica Secor (now at Tennessee) to graduation last year left a big void, but they're so well rounded. They won only the High Jump (JR E'ternity Starks), but tallied points in 15 of 18 events. The sixth event scored, the 1600, saw the Lady Crimsons open up a 29.5 point lead and a 45.5 total. Assumption finished the meet with 45 so ... ✨ Stellar performances across the board - with a few surprises, particularly in the hurdles races, and in the Field events where some emerging talent grabbed the spotlight. ⏱️ New 3A and KY All-class record ~ Only one, but my goodness! 4x800 Relay: 9:02.21 Assumption (Leah Penick JR, Julia Schmitt SR, Mabel George SO, Reagan Gilmore SR). The same quartet set the record last year and chopped a whopping 10 seconds off of that this go-round. The mark is good for a #15 US ranking this season per MileSplit. πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡ Girls' Multi-Event Winners (College commitment) ~ β€’ Sanaa Washington, Bryan Station SR (Western Kentucky): 100, 200, 4x100R. β€’ Julia Schmitt, Assumption SR (Louisville): 800, 4x800R. β€’ Reagan Gilmore, Assumption SR (Florida): 3200, 4x800R. πŸ“ Athletes of note ~ β€’ Tula Fawbush (Oldham Co. SR) ends a terrific HS career with a win in the 1600. She's headed to Tennessee in the fall. β€’ Kiera Antoni (PL Dunbar SR) surprised state record holder, West Jessamine JR Aly Doyle, with a win in the 300H. Antoni will run for Louisville next year. βœ”οΈ For fellow NKY sports fans ~ β€’ Alexis Howard (Simon Kenton SO) The scion of the great Track dynasty in Independence made a big splash winning the Long Jump and placing second in the Triple Jump. β€’ Isabella Von Lehman (Conner SR) The premier sprinter in the area the last few years went silver in the 100 and bronze in the 200. She'll be a 'middie' running for the US Naval Academy. Salute! β€’ Notre Dame's 4x400 Relay Team. Second this year; first next year? The PaNDAs will return the entire unit: Ella Long JR - Norah Barker FR - Cameron Kirtley JR - Kate Blettner SO. 😊 Impossible to mention all the worthies. Please drop in props for your faves.
  12. 🧐 If I may, a bit of history, and a scenario to ponder ~ πŸ₯‡ 1A β€’ The Boys' championship sometimes runs through NKY (Bellevue 5x, Brossart 4x, St. Henry 3x, Walton-Verona 1x, Beechwood 1x), while the Girls' title road frequently stops in NKY (St. Henry 11x, Brossart 8x, New Cath 3x, Beechwood 3x, Bellevue 2x, Dayton 2x). Beginning with Dayton's second win in 1995, 26 of 29* titles have come North. Phenomenal. πŸ’‘ Dual/triangular meets aren't really a thing now like they were in my day. I think it'd be great though, with the emergence of Beechwood's program, to put on a Cov Cath - Beechwood - Notre Dame - Brossart "Speed Week" meet. It would be very competitive. Think the fan turnout would be good and look at other facets of some rivalries. Maybe rotate host sights? Cov Cath's track could handle a smaller meet, Notre Dame has a nice facility, and Brossart's MAC is awesome. Hmm ...
  13. ... I've heard though, the traffic is just murder there.
