The undisputed facts: Coach and his wife were reassigned for undisclosed allegations. Those allegations were found unsubstantiated. Coach returned to the sidelines. He was retained for the 24-25 season. Additional detail provided by Coach Hunt: Allegations were associated with a Super Bowl party at his home and the serving of alcohol. His wife was the main target to be taken down by the allegations. He was told he could hire whoever he wanted as assistants and that didn't come to fruition in practice.

So there has been a tradition established that once a year Holmes wears the jersey of the old Lincoln-Grant High School, the all Black segregated high school in Covington. When desegregation happened, they closed the high school portion and those kids joined Holmes.

I cannot restate this enough - parents are the worst part of coaching.

Just to confirm, you are counting Brossart losing to Holmes this past season as part of his 0-2, correct? When he was an assistant for a Brossart team with one of the most depleted rosters in recent school history? Does not seem like a fair assessment to Sam, does it?

So I am welcome to anyone adding anything significant I am missing, but it appears her major highlights are that she was a standout at Holmes in the late 80s, was a star player at Old Dominion in the early 90s, played overseas, became an assistant at Holmes and eventually the head coach at Holmes, went to Old Dominion as an assistant, then came back home and is currently working with the Covington School District and Covington's Recreation Department.

What a big day for former Pendleton County coaches.

It is going to absolutely take some time for Sam to restore Holmes to contender status but I have some good reasons to be optimistic: - He “gets” the program/community about as good as anyone can, something that was sorely missed the last few years. - He has experienced both great failure and great success throughout his career and is built to keep the program moving forward during lean times. - For a team which as many losses as Holmes as experienced the past two years, to get a coach with head coaching experience at two places alongside the amazing coaching trees he is a part of as an assistant while still being under 40 is just an absolute home run.
