  1. Quick is playing slot receiver for the freshmen. I don't think you will see him in a varsity uniform this year, but who knows. Not because he doesn't have the ability, but because there is not a need right now.

Thanks...I haven't seen him play but I had heard he was good enough start varsity at many schools at several different positions.

  2. Translated = "Best Team Ever" ???:isurrender:

Daylen may be the team's only D1 prospect, thus I don't think anyone is claiming "Best team ever". X should be very good, maybe more overall talent and speed at the skill positions than in years past.

  3. Daylen is blazing fast, but I doubt he breaks 4.5 personally.....though we won't know....but hand times aren't reliable at all.

When he gets timed mechanical I'm very confident Daylen will be a lot closer to 4.40 than he is to 4.50

  4. This game is really hard to call. I don't think they have a common opponent. South Laurel has a great record and pretty much dominated the mountain competition. Bullitt East played the tougher schedule. Alphin or Bowles both have the ability to shut good teams down. I look for Bullit East to advance to the championship against Lex Cath.

  5. Trinity should win! But we know baseball is a different beast. Littrell will probably go for the Rocks. RF Bowling should be back. Harrison's 2nd B is suspended for this game. All things that point to Trinity as the favorite. The 8:30PM start time is good for the Rocks. The loss to Christian Academy of Louisville should still linger in their minds and hopefully be enough motivation so Harrison County is not taken lightly.

My sources tell me Rueff will be the starter.

  6. Meant no disrespect nor to disparage. However, if you look at my post closely I was very careful to intentionally direct it to LOUISVILLE & JEFF. CO. SCHOOLS.

Obviously neither of which BE is. Good luck to them but was trying to make a point about all the fine schools and programs WITHIN OUR COUNTY.

Understand your point Jim, just Jefferson County (who really cares about County boundaries at T and X, lol)... but I think Homerun is mindful of the fact that BE is representing the 6th Region which includes a good number of Jefferson County schools. It's also interesting that Alphin, POY in 6th, played travel ball a couple years with Littrell, Bowling and Carney of the Rocks. Cyclones are well represented in the 6th and 7th. Good luck to the Chargers and Rocks.

  7. More proof that baseball is an entirely different animal than football.

Which is exactly why I'm against a class system for baseball. Keep the All A tourney, but let'em all compete for the big show. Once you get above a couple hundred students there is little correlation between school size and baseball success.

  8. Owensboro only won 6 regular season games?

When St.X played Owensboro they were 4-11...They ended beating X by a run. All the while watching the game I kept thinking how has this team only won 4 games? They hit the ball well, played defense and their pitcher threw well. Congrats to the Red Devils for turning their season around at the right time.

  9. I like T's chances against Ballard regardless who the Bruins put on the hill. Overall, Rocks are better defensively and offensively at the plate. I've not seen Rueff throw this year, but I've heard his velocity his back and has good command. I'm looking forward to this one. I wonder if the Engineer will make it over from across the river to see this one.

  10. Good game. Good hitting and 4 huge double plays. Trinity turned double plays in the first 3 innings and of course a double play to end the game. When a team turns 4 double plays in 7 innings that's a hard one to beat. Littrel started 2 of the double plays with the other 2 being turned up the middle. Pitchers best friend.

Was Brian behind the plate for the Rocks? I'm assuming that explains Manual's unwillingness to try and steal to get runners in scoring position and avoid the dreaded DP.

  11. The Rocks lost 6-5 and 4-2 in their two games with the Bruins. Rueff will be on the mound for the Rocks. Ballard will have McCombs ready as the Male Bulldogs almost made Coach Gilbert's plan backfire as he yanked McCombs after 6 innings on Monday. Since he only pitched 6 innings, he is eligible to pitch due to the quirky tournament schedule that allows for the extra day of rest.

    From the KHSAA rule book:

If a pitcher pitches in six (6) innings, that pitcher shall have two

    (2) calendar days of rest beginning with the day following the

first day a pitch is thrown.

Maybe the Rocks can make Bruins pay for the quick turn around. This is the only sport where a rivalry exists between Ballard and Trinity. The Rocks own the gridiron and the Bruins rule the hard-court.

Pitching McCombs on 2 days rest does not bode well for the Bruins. In addition to potentially not being effective, the young man does have a career ahead of him at UL to think about. I would at most use him to close or to get out of a jam to prevent a big inning early in the game. The Rocks seem to score early....Ballard could start Mcombs, pull him in the second and bring him back as needed.

  12. I was, but district finals are strange birds in that they aren't elimination games. I'm very interested to see the matchup the Crimsons draw in the first game.

Winning district and drawing either Trinity or Male is no prize.

  13. Which top 25 team will not make it out of the 25th District Manual or St.Xavier?

I believe both teams are capable of making a serious run at the regional crown but unfortunately one team will not make the tournament due to Male having beat both teams.

Even though Manual beat X in their earlier meeting I believe the game is a toss up. Good Luck to both teams? Who you got???

They actually split the doubleheader.....10 runs to 10 runs for both games.

  14. PRP 6 ST X 5 in 8 innings

Anyone know why in the 6th St.X conceded the tying run with a runner on third, 1 out, by not bringing the middle infield in? Ground ball to short, fielder's choice, tied the game in regulation.
