  1. I thought the paper said 11,300 in attendance. It may not have been that high if the game was played at Manual Stadium, a great stadium but very little parking. (Does Manual Stadium hold 10,000?)
  2. Congratulations to the Manual Crimsons! Nice write up in the paper. It looked like a fairly convincing win. I found it interesting that the last time Manual beat Male they lost to Manual's first round playoff opponent this year - PRP. Great win at this time of the year for Manual - PRP will come out armed for Ram - Manual will need to keep their focus to advance past PRP.
  3. I don't get it, why wouldn't Cov Cath want to win the game?? From the game description and the summary Riverside gave X came our insipred and took advantage of the breaks - that's what good teams do. Cov. Cath wasn't picked to win, but came to play and showed the state they can play on a level with X. A great performance from an underdog.
  4. Time is the biggest issue I see. Parents and students are dividing their time and have to choose the best "value". Unfortunately, these kids, with parental direction, sometimes choose very early. It seems that most sports are available year round. Soccer, cross country, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, and I haven't even touched on the non sport extra ciricular. When I was a kid.......football, basketball and spring baseball was the primary choices, so many more now it makes my head spin...... I can only imagine what it does to a student athlete who is trying to keep their grades high enough to get a serious look from a college.
  5. Any of the receivers from Shelby County (4 or 5 of them). They all are allowing Matthews to compile the amazing stats he is compiling.
  6. Does the ranking program factor in the score? Does it help if teams run the score up? In the ancient past you could tell a team was beaten soundly with a score of 28-34 to 7-14. Now days it seems plenty of teams are racking up scores much higher, sometimes I realize it may be tough to truly compete and not score (Butler - St. X). Years ago, during a JV game we were drumming another team, the coach turned the entire game over to the players - we changed positions, called plays - it was a blast, but we didn't score that much.
  7. Great Message. I agree with all that was said Bubba. Unfortunately you may be preaching to the choir. I have also witnessed the behavior you have written and after multiple games this season spoke with the AD. I haven't seen or heard them the last two weeks - it is amazing who is willing to yell encouragment when the negative is eliminated. I think we as fans can make a difference, not through confrontation with unruly fans, but with letting those in authority know that we believe their behavior inappropriate and unacceptable. With enough comments I sure an AD or principal would throw out their own mother if she was the culprit. There is strength in numbers - voice your opinion!
  8. Congratulations to the Cardinals! I was stunned when I saw the box score. Not knowing Clark Co.'s program it's good to hear the team has been able to maintain the focus and bring it all together for this game. From the box score it appeared as though Matthews had a resepectable night and his percentage was good. It was also obvious that SC doesn't have a running game. The turn-overs apparently played a big part, very impressive to read above in the thread about the stop at the goal line. Clark -Build on this success.:thumb: Shelby - Don't give up keep puhing to improve.:fight:
  9. X has the opportunity to build stats and position players for post season accolades or they can roll the players in that don't get to see action during most games as Xtiger69 mentioned earlier. I'm curious which one it will be, I can see either one happening....
  10. It was my first time there, fun game to watch. Centre looked to be in control most of the time. Fun stadium, good crowd - parents weekend. I liked the fact the coach yanked any player that got a personal foul. It's a small enough stadium I even got to hear the lecture - something along the lines of we expect more..... Very impressive to hear that type of coaching.
  11. Trinty approached an outmanned opponent with respect and sportmanship. Let's hope X will do the same.
  12. Trinity will likely make a good Ballard squad wish they hadn't followed St. X on the schedule.
  13. Alex Matthews is posting impressive numbers, but to look the other numbers in the box score. The percent completed was about the same as Manual's Harness. Matthews threw the ball twice as many times to produce the 555. Harness got 268 with 13 throws - seems very comparable to me. Manual had the second dimension, that Shelby Co. could not produce, the run - adding 355 to the total. Looks like Manual had a few miscues with fumbles that Shelby didn't have probably accounting for the close score. Shelby appears to be a one dimensional team, living (and dieing) by the pass. They do it very well and appear to have made it a very exciting game. Too bad they couldn't both win....
  14. Sounds like a great idea! I hope everyone participating enjoys it. I do hope they are using equipment built to todays standards changing just the look.:thumb:
  15. It's good to see so may teams in the upper half of the top 1000. This bodes well for the future of football in KY.
  16. You may be right. Coming off a respectable loss and gaining national ranking could put the Rocks in a euphoric state (as opposed to the state of KY;)). Players at this age tend to look at and believe the press clippings more than the Coaches want them to. If I were Eastern I would want to come in guns loaded
  17. Col. H - You must have been talking to Ram 2003's -Manuel. Is Henderson a "wet" county? What are the other options if water is out?
  18. You make a good point Strike3. Education is what is is about, although I also see (and wonder) about some of the programs that just plain struggle. Shawnee and Atherton in Louisville are prime examples. The have had good athletes, as evidenced by success in other sports, but football seems to flounder. The lack of success may breed lack of success. With marginal coaching and a general lack of motivation it is tough to get over the hump. A combination of a coach who is not only a good tactician but a good motivator, student-athletes that are self-motivated and willing to lead the others (encourage) on the team and lastly a good booster program willing to invest money and time into the players and the program. The coaches can only do so much, but a partnership between the coaches and the boosters can let the players know adults are interested in their future (on and off the field). If the coaches can't (or won't motivate) look to the players, if the players can't self motivate look to the boosters, if all three contribute their best, however marginal it is, the team will find success enough to build a program. As far as pulling the plug, that's may be too tough of a call for an school adminstrator who generally follow the adage " if it ain't broke....."
  19. I don't know much about the individuals involved with the situation is Jessamine. I feel for the players who may loose the opportunities provided by continuity and focus..... although I do think from adversity grows greatness....This is a great lesson for the players involved, you either quit and take the position you couldn't impact the season or you redouble your efforts, work harder, work as a team, and take all you can from a not-so-great situation.
  20. Congrats to Manual. I certainly was thinking it would be a closer game than the score says. Did Ballard have an off night or is Manual for real?
  21. Congratulations to Trinity! It takes a lot of class to pull starters early in the game and not run the score up any more than it tneds to move with such a early season mis-match.
  22. I also expected it to be closer, Congratulations St. X.
