2007 Russell
Probably so, but man, I'll miss Friday night at Ivan McGlone field!!! It's an awesome place to watch the red devils play. So far this summer, he's lost 20lbs+. Hopefully, he'll get down to around 310 by the beginning of the season. Thanks for your support, I'll try to keep everyone posted on how he is doing.

2007 Russell
Guys, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Seth is not moving back to Russell. Personal circumstances make it impossible for me to raise my children there. Seth is enrolled at St.X. He is, however, working hard and trying to live up to his potential. He's dropped 20-25 pounds so far which puts him down to 310-315. Of course, we do miss everyone at Russell and hope they bring home the title in 3A next year. Now no one needs to listen to the rumore because you've heard if "straight from the horses mouth".:thumb: GO DEVILS!!! :fire:

What's a 300 pounder got to do with anything?!? Only way it makes a difference is if the kid can play. And no one player makes a team.

Thanks! Foy is one of Seth's best friends. They've stayed in constant contact.

2007 St. Xavier
The competition in district to be honest was weak. However, in games against 3A teams Ashland, Boyd Co, & Greenup he stepped up. In playoff games vs. Corbin, Belfry, & Mercer Co he played even bigger. He had 8 tackles against Mercer (who was much faster) in the state championship game. He'll be an all state candidate wherever Glaser decides to play him. He'll help the team get better, that's all. He's still got a lot of work to do and is doing it. We'll have to see if it pans out...

Neerfan, Thanks for the info, does that mean in a 4-3 a DT only has one gap?

2007 St. Xavier
Tell me about these guys? What kinds of size/speed do they have? Also, What are the responsibilities of the DL in a 4-3 versus a 3-4? Russell played a 3-4 alot. Seth played RT and his responsibility was to stand his guy(s) up and let the backers fill in to make the tackles. (He still had 59 tackles). Trying to learn more about football (I'm more of a round ball fella).

Yes, Seth only played freshman at X. The biggest difference that I saw when I first arrived was how practice was conducted. At X, everyone was in constant motion. There were more volunteer coaches and more players so things could be brokendown more/more specialized. X had right at 100 player +/-. That same freshman class (though even it was small by normal standards - usual class size would be around 25 or so) at Russell had to pull players up from 8th and a couple of sophomores down, just to have a few subs. The weight room facilities are quite a bit different as well. The thing is, is that right now Russell has the best program in our immediate area, hands down. I'm sure I'm biased and many people from Ashland would disagree. But from my eyes (I moved to Russell 5 years ago), no other program has been as consistent. The fan base is extremely supportative (as is X's) and that makes the games really fun. It's a community event on game night. That is pretty cool. Hopefully, that answers you question.

2007 St. Xavier
Yeah, I really liked watching Seth and Duece play as freshmen. They were men amoung boys. From what I heard (i followed St X as best I could last year) Duece played more and more as the season went on. Hopefully they can both take it up another level.

2007 St. Xavier
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I'm 100% sure he's coming to louisville. I've got the inside scoop on him since I'm his dad. :thumb: I accepted the transfer offer from my work last week and begin my new position on Monday. He'll be there in about six weeks. He's very excited and has already begun extra training at the facility in huntington that OJ Majo and other athletes train at. He's working on his quickness, core strength, and flexibility. All we are waiting on is the finally paperwork from X and psas. Barring any major hickups it's a done deal.

Much like you, I am really concerned about finding help for Gahm on the OL. Matt Smith may be one busy young man this season. Where have all the BIG BOYS gone? Well, I'll tell you where one of them went. He went to Russell :fire: HS in Russell, KY. Ole' Seth Harvey, went to St X 1/2 his freshman year and then moved back to Russell. He help lead Russell to a state runner-up to Mercer Co. last year as a sophomore (he was 4th on the team in tackles). Now, he is moving back to St X. He'll be going there his Jr & Sr year. So you now have a 6'6" 300lb lineman to plug in where ever Glaser decides. :dancingpa
