Yes there are more animated coaches ---Bobby Knight for 1 , Can't think of any others at this time ----someone said he needed time to "mature" . So he gets a few years to embarrass GCHS while he grows ---SPARE ME ! Hope the truth comes out ---mainly about the alleged recruitment of the kid from Maryland , that was later ruled he had no eligibilty left--Can't remember --Did the KSHAA already rule no violations were found in this case ? The school admin sure has to share some blame in this mess--It was obivious after his 1st year he was not ready to coach a varsity BB team. LB

Was told Hicks re-applied -----Can someone confirm, ?? What a shame to watse a sheet of paper on that app ! The list of candidates I was told was not the longest list of who's who's in Ky BB . No knock on the guys that did apply but thought the list might be much longer. I'd guess some applied I don't about ----I assume from here Hampton applied , I'd guess both assisants from last year. An asst. coach from the 10th region. and 1 other guy I can't remember. Can anyone add to this list ? LB PS Ward resigning during a GCHS coaching change is just to good to be true !!!!! Did'nt take the time to read the whole thread but heard in lucasville, at valley middle there are 3 sets of parents whose kids make fine grades who are holding their kids back so they can play sports with a hot shot group of 7th graders. What I would dearly love to see is basketball and football go to an age based system something similiar to LL baseball. I'm sick of seeing held back kids dominate kids who have not been held back. This is most unfair in football, esp if the 7-8 grade teams play together. Some kid who should be a 9th grader gets to demolish a 7th grader. I'm for age groups in sports and doing away with competetion based on your school grade. Maybe this would stop some of this nonsense. Larry Bird

After the way the last coach with Scott Co connections worked out I'd be suprised if they went that route again. LB

Sutton may do a fine job , but with any young prospect w/o head coaching experience you don't know for sure what you are getting. He may fantastic, He may not (see last hire) . Thats why at this time I'd lean towards a more experienced guy. Sutton is deserving but that spot may take a coach with wisedom beyond his years. time will tell LB

Mark Fuller was no high flyer , member of the low and high flying GCHS team of the mid 80's. high being Boo Williams , Andy Garvin, low being Mike Scott and Fuller, BTW not many 6 '11" guys jump too well. Also who is D Bradley from GCHS ? never heard of him ---anyone know 1st name ? LB

When will the process start and any idea when a new what month a new coach might be named ? How long did it take them last time ? (to screw it up ) Does the school board vote and majority wins ? LB

As a GC supporter here's what I would like ----not to take a chance with an unknown commodity. I think a few established coaches were passed over last time (1 for 100% sure) to take a guy that was young and didn't have much a track record . He brought plenty of energy but didn't quite have the "gravitas" to use an old politic phrase. The next coach should be an established guy. with all the turmoil the program needs a proven leader. Not intentionally trying to say Coach Sutton or Smith should'nt get at least a look or interview but neither have been a head coach before. Just seems like a time for a proven established coach. LB

How can you call this one ? Russell w/o the regional POY , uncharted waters for the devil's. I don't think Lewis can capture the emotion of mon night vs greenup. GCHS is a huge rival game for Lewis , russell is not. They shot very well , under huge pressure . Can they do it twice in a row ? I've got my doubts.... 1 things for sure , the place will be rockin big. And there is no coach , none , that I'd rather have in march than Mr March . LB

I think the Greenup job is 1 of the top 5 in the region ----sure there are politics but it's funny how winning takes care of alot of that . You can't hire an immature person for such a high profile job. Please don't even attempt to argue that Mr Hick's behavior the 1st 2 years on the job was one of any maturity. I took a family member to the wheelersburg,ohio game at GCHS 2 years , the family member said he would never come back because the actions of the coach were so embarrassing. My view and that of what will be a bunch of applicants is that it's a talent rich spot, just looking for the right guy. Larry Bird :thumb:
