Just curious Les why do you always cheer against Elliott Co.?

I can see the point they were trying to make, but what about the other players on the team, such as freshman and soph. that would have like to have this opportunity? They may never have it again. JMO:idunno:

Per the record book sold at the tournment The All-Time 3pt Goals made didn't have Ferguson listed in the top 10. That was a surprise for me. Obviuosly these totals were before this years tournament started. The Top 10 made ranged from 11 - 26. 1.Zornes Boyd Co 26 2.Maynard EC 14 2.Stevens BC 14 10.Thomas APB 11

I thought Coach Thacker did a great job with adjustments & subbing to help get his team back in the game. Give him a few years to develop the skills of his players & get them some game experience & I think you may see a yearly contender in the 16th from Rowan.

Was Coach Mayse at any of the games? I did not see him.

Thats why I say there is no doubt Coach Cantrell is Coach of the Year! What an unbelievable job he has done while there in a few short years. I have all the respect in the world for him for what he has done & how he handles his team.

I do not like to knock officials to much but I have to say it was a very bad officiated game both ways! I saw 3 games of the tourney & all 3 were very poorly officiated IMO. The small bald ref is really bad! The missed foul call by Riddle on Shae Ferguson on the break away layup was one of the top 5 missed calls I have ever seen. That said, just before that Riddle gets knocked to the floor an obvious foul & there was no call. However the missed call on Fergusons layup attempt came at a crucial time & could have made things a little more interesting.

You cannot get a good look at him but it looks like maybe Shane Ramey?

How does things look in the immediate future & down the road for these two teams?

Elliott will have to take better care of the ball tonight that's for sure. They had way to many unforced TO's last night. Its one thing to have TO's but the # of unforced TO's will need to be reduced drastically.

Without a doubt I would think the award would have to go to Coach Cantrell of Elliott County. Any thoughts?

What communities or Parks&Rec type programs have both a Spring & Fall Soccer program for boys & girls?

Wireman--great story. I also will never forget when Maynard hit that three against Mason last year and the buzz all around me in Rupp. Here's hoping for some more electric moments next month in Rupp!!! We listened to the radio replay of that game on KHSAA Archives last summer. When Maynard hit that 3 from beyond the hash mark over the outstreatched arms of a charging Darius Miller the exact quote by radio announcer Gary Ball "Are you kidding me" What sent cold chills down your spine was the unbelievable roar of the crowd! You just weren't expecting anything like it. We had to replay it to make sure we just weren't imagining it. One thing you knew almost everyone there was rooting for Elliott & caught up in the moment, but the roar of the crowd was like something you only heard in a magical replay moments of some of the greatest games in sports history. Treat yourself & listen to it someday. That said, however its hard to relive the heartbreak once again.

In my day some years ago the only ones who got a pass were the players on the tournament roster, cheerleaders, coaches, stat guys etc.., You had to have this pass to get to hopitality room. The JV players or JV cheerleaders were not given passes. The band ws not given passes, but they entered thru the backdoor on the so called honor system I guess. I do recall stories of others carrying in drums etc.. just to get in free. I do recall coaches giving some passes to some JV kids but I do not know where they came from. Maybe admin passes?

In a few years everyone will be saying "Heeee's Baaack"! He has another good one (daughter) coming up from the middle school ranks. When all is said & done Sheila will be filing a compensation claim against "Ralphs Market" due to carrying that video camera for 20 years.

Thanks Eta I'll take that answer, just wish more coaches at all levels would do these type things. They are whats best for the team & the indivivual in the large scheme of things on & off the court.

All we have heard about is the athletes & D1 prospects Holmes has so is Pittman not one of them? If he cannot play defense against an avg at best high school team how is he going to play D1 defense? Many in this situation try but usually are unsuccessful. Maybe there is another reason why he sit the 1st 4 minutes of the game?

You need to watch the Faulkners at Elliott Co they do it so well & they are not just flops. They actually take the charge, so beautiful to see kids who still have this as part of their game. Ethan probably avgs at least 1 maybe 2/game. Both of them just anticipate it so well & set up for it. These two kids are just basketball smart.

Hazard was overrated last year & again this year as they have benefit of a good draw in the state in 08' good draw in All A this year. I believe the 14th Region has another good draw this year in the state. North Oldham was clobbered by Elliott last year in the 5th 3rd by 26! I'll stick to my original statement the 8th is weak especially compared to what it used to be. The whole 8th owes the KHSAA big time by having Scott Co move.
