1979 Walton Verona beat Carroll County in finals at Pendleton County 1980 tournament was played at Fleming (I'll try and find out who won) 1981 I know Gallatin County played in finals but I don't remember who beat them. I'll try and find out. 1982 Fleming County beat Walton Verona in finals 1983 Walton Verona beat Pendleton County in finals Walton moved to the 8th sometime in mid 80's in baseball. 1981, 1982 and 1983 the 10th region tournaments were held at Walton.

First quarter game was back and forth with Conner hitting a 3 at the end to take a 17-14 lead. Conner pulled out to a double digit lead in second quarter and looked like they were going to put the game away but WV hit a couple shots to keep within striking distance (34-24) at half. Third quarter Conner maintained their lead but got into some foul trouble. The 3rd ended 50-38 Conner but Conner had 8 team fouls. During the fourth quarter WV was able to cut into the Conner lead. Walton-Verona had a shot to take the lead with under a minute to go but missed a 3 pointer. Conner made enough FTs at the end to hold on. Couple observations. Conner has some very nice pieces and will win a lot of games this season. Walton-Verona's young kids played well, and if they keep improving WV is going to have a nice season.

Game was close for the first 2 1/2 quarters. Simon slowing pulled away. Owen County will be much better when Ferguson returns. Owen County's point guard took a hard fall midway through the 3rd quarter and did not return to the game (hope she is ok).
