Conner 61 Walton Verona 58

Hmm....time will tell us which of these two teams this tells us more about.  If Conner is actually Top 3 in NKY as the coaches voted them, than WV is off to a really promising start.

Its tough to play at Walton and their teams have a lot of cohesiveness which makes them a tough early matchup.

First quarter game was back and forth with Conner hitting a 3 at the end to take a 17-14 lead.  Conner pulled out to a double digit lead in second quarter and looked like they were going to put the game away but WV hit a couple shots to keep within striking distance (34-24) at half.  Third quarter Conner maintained their lead but got into some foul trouble.  The 3rd ended 50-38 Conner but Conner had 8 team fouls.  During the fourth quarter WV was able to cut into the Conner lead.  Walton-Verona had a shot to take the lead with under a minute to go but missed a 3 pointer.  Conner made enough FTs at the end to hold on.  Couple observations.  Conner has some very nice pieces and will win a lot of games this season.  Walton-Verona's young kids played well, and if they keep improving WV is going to have a nice season.

These two teams opened the season last year with a very similar game, Conner winning by 6.
