South Laurel/Scott Updates
Corbin 47 Greenwood 41 Very sloppy game on both sides of the floor. I think it set the game of basketball back a decade or two.

I wonder why that is? Coach Wright is a Northern Kentucky boy having coached at Walton Verona.

Could be. I would think Gaffney will have something to say about that matchup. I would not count out Coach Pennington and the Lynn Camp Wildcats. They may get Bell again as well. I look for Gaffney to press Knox all night long and check the Panthers skills against the press early and often. Miller has not been putting up big numbers this week at Bryan Station and Messer might find a hand in his face on those 3's he so loves to take. I look for South and Corbin to go at it again in the finals, but what do I know about things. Hard to get a good read on things from the rafters. Les, can you get me a press pass?

South seems to be the top dawg at this time. Lots of thing can change come March. I figured you would be able to slip away and catch some action at the CFIT. Should be a big crowd with Lynn Camp, Knox Central, Corbin and South all bringing hoards of fans. It would be nice to see a Corbin vs South round two in the finals. I think the Hounds will be there. Can the Cards fill their end of the deal?

I did not know your wife was OLE......lol I thought she was the better half of the Duo?

I read in one publication, that St. John is the number 8 post player in the junior class in the United States. That is very impressive. Some school will get a steal in him. How does he rank Vinny Zollo and Dakota Euton? Is UK gonna let another good in state kid slip away? Hope you enjoy the rest. We will miss your presence at the CFIT and the nice hospitality room food as well. Heck the Varsity Club may make some money if you are not going to attend this year. LOL. December basketball is not worth much. Most teams are still trying to find themselves. I would much rather come from behind and finish strong as to peak too early and face the agony of defeat in March. I look for South to win their own tourney easily over Cov. Scott. The table is set, now eat up Cards.

Cardinals look to be at the top of the nest in the 13th at the New Year. Impressive win. Hope they get the title against Scott tomorrow? Les, do you have any scores from the other games? WBurg, Bville, etc

What happened to Justice? Good win for the Patriots. How did the Potomac and Scott game come out?

Corbin Tournament Results?
Cumberland Falls Boys Tournament is later this week. The Girls are hosting a tournament at this time at Corbin High School.

Jackets have very good looking team. Teague, Petit, Rains and Cunningham are good looking athletes. I expect them to improve and work out the kinks as the season goes one. Coach Robinson will make them tough and they will get some valuable experiences this season.

Scott 66 Corbin 53
Scott has a good team. Well Coached and play good defense in the half court. I really like their team. Hounds have to refocus and come back strong.
-
Knox Central 73 Corbin 64
Two Words for the 13th Region.........South Laurel. I would think Coach P will have some good practices to get the attention of the Hounds. Central outplayed the Hounds and deserved the win. Good Job Panthers.

Corbin 75 Clay County 62
Charter school in Columbus Ohio. Went from 70 students when it opened to around 600 students presently. Should have alot of athletes according to my sources. They play in the Freelance league so I take it that is for Charter schools. You can search for them on the web and find out more information. If they are coming all the way down to Manchester and Corbin they must be pretty good.

North Laurel @ South Laurel 12-12 Predictions
I look for this one to be an all out war. South came back in the Hoopin It Up and dismantled the Jags. I am not sure North got over that loss all season long. I agree St. John's is the key to South Laurel. If the Jags can find a way to limit his touches and keep him off the boards they have a shot. It would be nice if they could also get a foul or two early so that they would have to defend him for as many minutes. I am sure South will face guard Seidel all over the court and rotate fresh players on him defensively. Not sure anyone in the region can stop him one on one once he catches the ball.

North Laurel 107 Jackson County 85
North Could be a sleeper for the region if the young kids keep improving. How do you think the North vs South game will turn out on Friday?
-
South Laurel 69 Whitley County 63
I think Coach Wright has about 9 lives just like a cat. He can find a way to pull out a win in the jaws of defeat. His presence alone is worth 15 points most nights.

Corbin 75 Clay County 62
I like this game being moved to early in the season. That way win or lose both sides can claim they will take the rematch if it does indeed take place later on. I will say Coach Spurlock does get alot out of his teams each season. It is strange seeing Clay play without a true back to the basket post player though.

Corbin 75 Clay County 62
[QUOTE=The Breeze;3142402]What in the world is a tubular win:lol: I felt Corbin would win this tough game at home and it should be quite a game at KC as well, but IMO the Hounds will roll there as well. I think it means nice, groovy, excellent.....sort of an 80's term that was laid to rest after Bill and Ted's Adventure went off Cinemax....lol

Corbin 75 Clay County 62
I think Clay is a very good team. They will be a force to be reckoned with come post season if they can survive the brutal schedule Coach Spurlock has put together for them. South looked impressive in a win over Lafayette, Missouri as well and will be in the mix. It is really early and lots of things can change as the season unfolds. Any updates on Johnson's hand injury?

He is one of the first subs off the bench. You can watch the Card on Wazoo if you are really interested in the results.

Williamsburg 70 Lynn Camp 63
Thanks, Chant 50, you know too well the results of working towards a common goal. Coach R was a great warrior during his playing days, perhaps he can pass this on to the modern day Jackets.
