I am native of Harlan county and my take on things is our fore fathers (just a couple of generations ago) quit school and went to work for pennies on the dollar. They lived in coal camp's and bought their things from the company store....In most cases meant they already owed or had spent the money they were working for....But you know that was just the way it was then, the sad thing is that things haven't changed a whole lot in some places...That is the real shame....I think that all the men and women that quit school to work and raise kids(which had to be done) has really put education where it is at in eastern Ky. I dont think that is something you can change overnight...If you think about it, it really wasn't that long ago, just ask your parent's and grandparent's if they are from eastern,Ky. Also unless you witness this (the way people still live today) it is hard to believe unless you see it for yourself..I also remember the 3 subjects they taught in Harlan county. The 3r's Rithmatic,Rightin,and Route 119 the heck out of there...sadly but true this probably wasn't bad advice. Now with this being said I am in no way bashing Harlan county I still have family and a lot of friends there, I am just giving my opinion on why I think things in eastern Ky haven't changed a whole lot over the year's...Just to sum it up I think men and women having to work and raises kids and Not getting an education has a direct affect on not advancing with the times...

Can someone explain to me how the goverment can legally let you kill an unborn child....But if you lost an unborn child in a car wreck it is murder?

I just got back from my Birmingham golf trip....I was paired up with a very high ranking Jefferson county official, we were talking about Hoover High, then he told me that Hoover's head coach Rush Propst was in very hot water and looked for him to resign within two weeks....I will not go into the details since this info has not been released, but I took this man for his word and hope I am not made a fool of......

Lynn Camp's Dave Mitchell and Larry Parker Have been together for 19 or 20 years. Dave has been there since about 1980.

Yes coach Mitchell is his uncle.

He did transfer to South Laurel right after basketball season and then transfered back to Lynn Camp just this past monday..

Now this is S.E. KY we are talking about. 13 years ago this poor boy and my lovely wife went to the chicken fights. Oh boy was she impressed..I wanted to do something that we would never forget, Now that is original...and the truth! ps. Still married and with 4 girls.....Geez

Sounds like Williamsburg is into moral victories.......I bet the coach and players could care less!!! And his comments might have something to do with williamsburg dropping out of the district last year and leaving these other teams out to dry.......

A game where a team doesen't even get a free throw attempt? I saw this last night. It happened to be in a girls game. I can't recall in 30 years of being involved in basketball in some fashion this ever happening....How about you?

Does a Ref have the right to throw anybody out of the gym,for any reason?? or do they have to do something to warrant being ask to leave?......I was at a basketball game last night and after a very contraversial(sp)no call a fan 20 rows up and 50ft away shouts " That was pitiful ref" the ref walks 50ft down court and points at the fan and says your out of here...this was the first words the fan had spoken all night, and I could understand if the fan cursed or threatened a ref, but this is simply not the case. I see fans boo and shout at the refs all the time its part of the game. If a ref has no tuffer skin than that, then why is he out there anyway...
