Agree. I said he was better. And he is leading the team. Didn’t mean to ruffle the ole feathers there my friend!

Nope. Didn’t say that. You did. I said can’t figure out “why” it doesn’t translate to varsity. You can’t say Benke throws a better ball! If so, I disagree. And others can’t heart it, or trophy it, or whatever it all they want. Bottom throws a better ball. Period. But Benke obviously the better all around athlete. And he has the Birds 4-2 and heading in the right direction.

He is but still misses way to many receivers. New tea work on timing and sky’s the limit on this kid. Could be special. Side note, Cam Bottom still throws a very nice ball. Just can’t figure why it doesn’t translate over to varsity start. 

Just watch a Chinese fire drill on punt and punt return teams lol. Wowza! 

For all that care, lol! halftime warmups was very organized. Highlands had 2 coaches involved. #littlethings

There is at the DB position imo. The boys back there got toasted more than a time or 2. Hey, it happens. Maybe getting the Haas boy back there in a rotation with the others will help relieve some pressure on the ones starting. And also show them that maybe they need to perform a little better. IDK! Oh, and maybe keep their helmets on. #littlethings

Very lackadaisical effort warming up. Coaches leave it up to the kids to warm up. I know they should be able to but then again, part of the lack of leadership. People will say I'm being very critical but then again….

You don’t have to run just to run at the end of practice. You can run and condition in everything you do at practice. Sprint to stations. Sprint thru reps. Sprint on and off the field. Sprint to the line of scrimmage.
 

If you do those things, you need less running at the end. Condition throughout the practice and the team gives that effort during the game too.
 

On the other side of it, we don’t see practice. Maybe they do. It was more hot and humid today than it has been. But there were several players cramping later in the game. 

Did you get a chance to see both teams warm up after half. Pathetic to say the least. But hey, why complain. It was a win. #oldschool

I know one thing needs to change. Taking helmets off on the field as a player comes off after making a big play only to have them get burnt on the next series. Sure, have fun celebrate but don’t show up the other player or team. Because everyone is watching when you blow the next play! Can’t have it both ways boys! #flush

I’m sorry but clock management is the absolute worse. Cmon, run the freaking ball when your up 19 with 5:40 to go.

Why isn’t there a penalty for taking your helmet off on the field? Highlands “loves” to do this and pound their chest. Weak boys! Weak!!!

Agree with you 100%. I say that when this team decides to play for one another and the program and not just themselves is when Highlands will be back as a program.

Way too many individuals making a good play and celebrating themselves and looking for approval from the Highlands crowd.

Approval by your peers is gained by showing respect to your opponents, your teammates and your school. 

Keep working hard Birds, the majority of the kids have bought in…

Defense played great, a player that stood out to me was number 23 for highlands dude was a stud all night long. Obviously dunn and Robinson doing their thing.
