Birds took the foot off of the gas. Could have done whatever they wanted. Final score was “Fools Gold” for Cooper.
Just Stop! Then why didn’t they? And not let it come down to an onside kick that actually took the bounce Cooper needed but Highlands got lucky they controlled it. And Highlands/Cooper only punted once each I think and they each had a turnover if I recall. So how could have Highlands done anymore. From the looks of play calling in the second half, Highlands was still trying to score when they could/should have been trying to eat more clock, hence they pick 6. As a fan base, Highlands was relieved they got the win. But win is a win. Lots to work on.

Idk if Highlands will face another duo/trifecta like tonight of Coopers QB with Alexander & 13 (sorry but don’t know names) but Highlands DB’s need some help back there. Thankfully Benke, Giesler, and crew had a good night offensively. Idk, game just seem like it wasn’t this close. But somehow Cooper made it that way.

Bob walks into his office. Yells in the mirror "you're fired"... not sure that is happening...
Guess what…..he has 1:56 to save from doing that! That last play, no one covered Alexander. I mean not one person within 20 yards at the line of scrimmage

This game was over after the leftover Grand Finale WEBN fireworks. One thing I didn’t like was Benke still in the game late in 4th with runny clock. At receiver no less. Highlands doesn’t need any unnecessary injuries. Running clock at that point. Let the JV finish and get back to the fort healthy. Anyway, great game and atmosphere.
Side note, talked with some of the Highlands coaches at halftime and they were saying how the hospitality was wonderful. Said one guy even said how excited they were to have a program like Highlands come to town and play. Great job Raceland. Good luck rest of year!

That was their original color. Maroon and White.
How long ago because in 1982 when we visited, they were red/white. But hey, that’s the new red I guess.

The 2014 State Championship doesn’t happen unless Coach Weinrich steps in, makes halftime adjustments on D and calls the D in the second half of the game.
Well maybe, but Beau Hoge had as much to do with winning that game as BW had.

Luke Schneider is a stud. Good to see him being utilized more.
Because he plays defense as well, Luke imo best all around player for Highlands. He does so much so well. Hopefully big things to come!

Who were the 2 QBs?
Highlands used Lorenzen and Harris I’m guessing. Elder used Queen. Not sure if they used any others.

So what is up with Elder?
Not sure. Elder has 75 on their Frosh roster. Their QB was Emmit Queen, transfer from CCH. I’m thinking Elder overlooked the boys from south of the river or Highlands was just all over it. Highlands had 3 other opportunities but didn’t convert into points. Elder scored their TD with about 3 min to go. They say frosh scores really don’t matter and it’s for development, but I know it’s for sure better to be on the winning side of this game. Nice job Birds

Elder’s A team? If so that’s one hell of statement! #GoNKY!
Just pulled Elder's frosh schedule and I only see one team. Now, Elder is 1-2 on the year with losses to pretty decent schools. We will see how good Elder is in the next few weeks with St X and Big Moe looming.

Just saw on a Facebook page that visitor was winning 24-0 in the Elder Highlands game.

Having watched many Football Games over the years, especially these two teams, I don’t recall ever seeing HIGHLANDS being so undisciplined. Walking on the field, walking off the field. Running in both directions was the norm. Penalty calls for Personal Fouls, Flag, after Flag being thrown against HIGHLANDS, including a Flag thrown on a Coach? Where has the Spirit gone, where has the Pride and Discipline of the School gone. Where has the discipline and Control from a Coach of a TEAM Gone? This game was embarrassing from a School, City, Parent, Grandparent, and Supporters of HIGHLANDS including no need for a loss.

It was my belief that whoever was announcing any game should be impartial towards the game. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case last evening. How very sad and disappointing.
Wait! Wasn’t Kevin Listerman part of the radio call last night?

I heard Lorenzen was a beast in this game! I know of one play he had a guy on his back and still got away a pass to Abner in the end zone. Person said it was like watching Jared back in the day when he had guys hanging on him and still was able to throw the ball. Sounded like some good football this morning in Park Hills!

Highlands 50 Cooper 0 (JV)
in KY Football (High School)

I asked the same question today of a couple coaches. Kinda makes sense. Most people believe if you aren’t getting quality snaps in varsity then you need reps on JV level if eligible. Coaches told me that if Rio would get hurt in a JV game, then there’s no backup to Brode. Brody got banged on a lot last night. Ran the ball some 25+ times. Need to make sure your back up is healthy. Rio has gotten some quality snaps on varsity. If called upon, I think he could fill in. No where Brody’s level but capable. Sounds like an excuse but like I said, kinda makes sense. Next QB’s in line are both freshman.
I am in the boat that Rio should be getting snaps on JV, but like I said, what the coaches told me today kinda makes sense. After watching todays JV game, it would not have helped Rio to play imo.
