Luke Schneider!!!! Remember this name. Most overlooked player on the field. Continues to get open on his routes, when His number is called which isn’t enough imo, he makes plays. And the most underrated part of the game is watching this kid make blocks and never giving up when he’s not the main target. His downfield blocking is 2nd to none. Kid has heart and grit and it shows. Kid needs to get more touches. He’s what Highlands football is all about. Keep it up young man!!!

Highlands has some really nice TE’s. Here’s hoping they don’t underutilize them because there’s one in the making that they can’t let slip away. Just sayin!!!

It’s a long climb back to the top. He has made changes that take time for sure. First and foremost was getting these kids into the weight room and changing the previous regimes apparent philosophy for the players. They have gotten leaner, stronger and faster. That is what makes teams better. Speed kills! Plain and simple….aka Charlie Noon. 
Second, get back to competing and beating CCH. Yes, only 1 game and who knows how down CCH is at the moment but last nights win is for sure better than a loss. Because of CCH’s inability to capitalize on 3 turnovers inside Highlands what, 30 yard line, cost them the game. So yes, we will take this win but let’s not all think that Highlands is back just yet. That comes in December if and when #3 is accomplished! And then you start planning for the next season to build on the previous. That’s when we, Highlands faithful, aka FTM 😂 will know it was the right decision. Just my opinion. Speaking of, saw the painter last night and has a great conversation with him. He even said it’s nice to see that Highlands kids are starting to realize what this is all about.

I'm sure you will be. Have plenty of cash though. $10 at the gate for all. Buy ahead of time and save a little bit. $8 for adults and $4 for students plus a 20% convenience fee. I'll have anywhere from 3-6 people for this one. This one should be worth every penny.

1982!!! Reg season Highlands on top with a 13-7 victory. Playoffs again saw Highlands on top 13-7 in Overtime. Johnny Bankemper went over the top to score winning TD in front of arguably largest crowd in DCM stadium. Also arguably best CCH team not to win state. Schulte twins, Darpel at QB, Edgington and Hennessy in the backfield, Big Tobler on the line, and on and on! 
 

Highlands had Kremer at QB, Bankemper in the backfield, a smallish Oline but very very disciplined, and a defense with Kremer, Dougherty, Ulbricht, Fisher, Maile and company, that only allowed less than 5 points a game with 6/7 shutouts. 
 

When Bankemper scored winning TD, Tood Schulte welcomed him into the end zone. At that point 1000’s of fans rushed the field. Watching the tape, it’s really an exciting and well played game.

Hmmm interesting. Wonder if once frosh season is over, all frosh move up. Maybe they give them the option. 

Surprised by the score. I would have thought Highlands would be able to control the game. So Litmer scored on a long run. Did the upperclassmen QB’s play? Maybe giving the frosh time. 

Did any of the freshman get a sniff last night. Heard the frosh team is dressing varsity rest of year. #lockthemin

Cute! Everyone has their opinions. I disagree. Look for a more competitive game though. Birds win but no blow out imo!

Would like to see the frosh use their big TE more. Had a couple catches in the first have for some pretty good yardage. Varsity has started to get the ball to TE Schneider there which helps open up the field a bit and the Schneider kid is a player. The TE Cluckey boy is a nice player as well. Maybe on the QB sometimes but would like to see the TE get more catches. I think the OLine struggled a bit tonight. I will say I liked the fire in some of the coaches. Sometimes kids need that to get their attention. Just make it about the game and not themselves. Hopefully Birds learn from this game and finish the season strong. Remember #scit!

I’ll have to go back and look but I’m assuming you are talking about the Cooper game. Was there talk about sophomores playing down? Can’t remember.

It was a good game. A couple plays either way highlands could have won and CCH could have scored 14 more points. Kinda back and forth but overall, good game.

The fact I have to ask is problematic, but when was the last time Highlands beat CovCath at any level in football? Asking for a painter friend of mine.
