  1. Just an isolated incident tonite. I am telling you ND beats Highlands by 20 if they dont apply this strategy and this was the only way Highlands could keep this close. Do you like it, obviously not, It sounds as if it would have been a crime if Highlands had won this game with this gameplan because it wasnt textbook, thats your opinion.

Every once in awhile a coach does something that isnt close to the book and totally floors the opponent both physically and emotionally. I can assure you it was effective and darn near worked. As stated before really good teams endure all types of gameplans and strategies and ND did this tonite.

ND was ready and hungry tonite to kick some butt and Highlands said no, you are going to play per our rules and ND did.

ND had their chances to change the tempo of this game but chose not to. Now if all of this is Highlands fault then so be it.[/QUOTEHighlighted part well said!!!

Oh Geeeeez..... Looks like we might have another UKfan on our hands. LOL

  2. I do think a team should have to kick to a
return threat just like I would never tell that person when you get the ball lay down. I agree this is my opinion and normally I believe in being positive but truly does anyone believe telling kids that have been schooled to go out and play better than your opponent lay down a good game?

See you say get better at tackling and stopping him and I say tell your kicker to get better and be able to kick it out of the endzone to keep their star down.

You say get better and stop the players one on one and I say do anything within the rules to exploit the game.

Its called philoshpies, and ours are complete opposites, that must make you a Democrat and me a Republican. LOL

  4. Not trying to suggest it was cheating, coaches do coach to win but to expect your ball club to slow down a complete game to win then that goes against everything they have been taught since the their first competitive game, did the coach feel her team could not compete attacking and defending? If you win a game like this what is the next game plan? Just think it goes against the basic principle of the game which is to score more points than your opponent. With the approach tonight when were they suppose to turn it on and how do you motive your team for the next game?

You are probably that same guy that complains that its not fair that teams are aloud to kick the ball out of the endzone or onsides kick it so a super threat returner cant punish you for kicking it to him.

Its part of the game, no rules say you cant, whether it ethical to you or others who cares, its strategy.

Is it uncanny and unorthodox and not the way John Wooden said you were suppose to do it, you could say yest to all.

Is it illegal or against the rules, dont think so.

We live in 21st Century and different times. Not saying that what you believe is wrong, believe what you want, but Highlands played within the guidelines of the game tonite.

  5. Is winning a game worth comprising dignity, I wonder if any of these kids every played before with their coach holding back play. Leah Schafer averaged more points per game this year than the game total. Don't like it and I believe it is a sour way to end the season! Let your kids play and win with pride and lose with dignity!

Thanks for pointing that out. Coach Richey apparently doesnt care if she averages 40 a game. This wasnt about one girl or any girl getting her points and making someone feel good about themselves TONITE, this was about trying to give your team its best chance to win against a team that was picked to win by 25 and Coach R did that. The score shows it. There was a game plan put into place, it was executed close to perfection but not perfect.

Would it have been a better lose if a Leah Schaefer or someone else score 40 and still got beat by 20. I hope you are just using her as an example for this conversation and not insinuating something else.

The HHS team lost with dignity tonite, but perhaps some parents and fans didnt see it that way.

Again, too bad, its about the team and the program.

  6. Trust me folks, unless you have seen it, there is no way that a shot clock happens in Girls BB anytime soon or even in my lifetime. The disparity of Girls BB programs in this state is a like a roller coaster ride and would do more harm then good.

Really good teams like ND still find a way to win when challenges like these arise unexpectantly.

  7. Again, if you were there, you must understand that the blame should not fall soley on Highlands. ND played into the game plan and could have changed the tempo of the game but they chose not to. ND coach siad "we will play" and she did and almost took one on the chin when in fact she had the horses and the talent to change the tempo on a dime and beat HHS by 20.

If Highlands wins this game the PHM may have had an emergency meeting tonite at PeeWees. :D

C'mon people, nobody got hurt, the people complaining here are the ND supporters and the tite wallets that are complaining that they didnt get their 8 bucks worth. If Highlands robbed your daughter, granddaughter, neice etc from scoring her 20 or 30 and shining in front of the crowd then too bad. Its a team sport, not an individual sport and sometimes it not all about little Curly, its about the program and the team.

  8. Kudos to Coach Richey and the HHS girls for sticking with the game plan. Highlands looses this game by 20 to 30 if they try and run with the pandas, PERIOD..........

The game plan worked, ND coach fell into the trap and darn near robbed her Srs an opportunity to move on. If any ND fans should be rattled or upset with anyone it should be with their coach for letting it happen and playing into Highlands hand.

Highlands makes a couple of bunnies and people are screaming at the KHSAA for a shot clock in HS basketball.

Like someone else said, who or what team will try this again and when?

The book of "how to" says you dont do this but sometimes coaches overcoach and should just do whatever is necessary to win.

Congrats to the ND girl for keeping her head in this game and hitting the two huge jump shots. The other ND girls and coaches may be upset that Highlands didnt play fair but hey who said life is fair.

Good luck to the Pandas and I hope you take your frustrations out on the next two teams and hopefully make a deep run in the State Tourney. :thumb:

For all the crybabies complaining about the money, we can certainly rob these girls of an awesome experience to play in a big time venue and move it back to the HS.

Who is this about again the girls or the parents and fans..................

  9. Seniors robbed of last game, regardless of chance to win they really got cheated in this one. They were embarrassed on the court while the crowd yelled. If this were a final perhaps but let em play. Just my opinion obviously.

Who got robbed? Are you referring to Highlands srs?

Where are the pics? Id say you got some good still pics. :D

  10. Perhaps to be more political correct and stop these types of beat downs then maybe the two small schools or at least one of them step up to the plate and vote for the seeding of the tourney and then these types of beatdowns dont happen. I can assure you unless you were at the game, Highlands pulled their starters mid 3rd qtr in fear of scoring 130by default. No way did Highlands run it up.

Oh and one of the small schools voting for seeding? that wont work, those schools want to keep the blind draw in hopes of getting lucky and finding themselves in the regional tourney.

Weird how some decisions that some make come back to bite you.

So whats it going to be folks.........................

  11. You are Mr. SK, and have your facts that incorrect? The money came from Nova Care, or at least a foundation affiliated with Nova Care. The confusion lies with the fact that Dr. Colisimo is involved with UC football, through Nova Care, and he is also involved in the foundation that gave the money.

You cant win for losing in debating or questioning Mr. SK. Your explaination and facts sound more credible, thanks for the info, this makes more sense.

For whats it worth, when someone says "from what I heard" I take that as a bunch of non-factual, pot stirring gossip.

But hey his comments are always fun to read and never ending. JMO

  12. This outcome really doesnt surprise me much, Boone has a nice team but certainly not invincible and obviously beatable. Congrats to Ryle on a nice win for the program. This Region tourney will be interesting and fun to watch as there are about 4 or 5 different teams that could beat anyone on any given night and in the end the team with a little bit of luck, a team with some bad luck, a boyfriend or significant other issue, some persoanl issues and WHAM, who would of thunk it, a little ole single A school or perhaps some All Girls school or another quality program and maybe even the big schools that are suppose to win can win this thing on any given night. This is why they play the games. Good luck to all teams.
