Just heard they may be gone after the year. Did not hear reasons why. It could be possible they are moving to better jobs or just tired of coaching. I do think there will be 4-5 openings in the 14th.

I heard some rumors also, but nothing concrete. Some of the schools that I have heard mentioned include Hazard, Powell, Knott, Owsley and Wolfe. I guess we can monitor the KHSAA website for job openings to see if any of the position are indeed going to be open.

The winner of the Lee/Leslie game will be in the final. I like Estill, but I think Hazard got the best draw and should come out of the top. I predict Leslie over Hazard in the Championship game.

Hazard will win big. Hazard is on a roll. I think that Wolfe will pack it in, much like they did last season when the Breathitt destroyed them in the tournament.

You have to give a lot of credit this season to Coach Wright. It seems that he finally "gets it". The last few years, Lee Co. has had talent, but they played undisciplined basketball. They would often take LOTS of ill-advised shots and did not play to their strengths. Last years team with Howard and Rich on the interior could have been a nearly unstoppable force, but instead, Howard spent most of his time 20 feet from the basket, and Rich was not utilized. This season, Coach Wright has slowed the tempo, played excellent half-court defense, and made the interior play of Rich the focal point of the team. These adjustments are why Lee Co. may be the favorite to win the 14th this season.

That's okay. I was just wondering. I think you would have to go back a long time. I bet it is odd for the Superintendent not to have anyone to support in the region this year.

I don't think you can blame the coaches yet. Even though they did have numbers, they have not have time to develop their feeder systems and in the case of basketball, they did not even get to play in their own gym. I think that next season, or even the year after are the years to hold the coaches accountable.

When was the last time a Perry Co. School (district) team did not make the region? I would guess at least 20 years. I think Perry Central has went every year of their existence. Before that, Dilce, Buckhorn and MC Napier seemed to be in the region every year. Does anyone know?

Largest school in the 14th falls to one of the smallest. Letcher's athletic programs (boys) have really struggled so far this year.
