You still understand my point. I probably should've used a better example but I think you still get my drift. Harard and Paintsville did make it to the Sweet 16 but neither had a chance to win it all. That was my point. Schools almost treat regional championships like state titles because a state title is just too unrealistic in basketball for most kids to dream about.

I agree 100%. IMO, we need to have a state championship for each class. It unrealistic for the small public schools in the state to dream of a state title. The days of a player like Richie Farmer leading his small rural school to the title are over. It may happen once every 50 yrs or so but it would be nice to see more schools with a chance to win a state title. We've gotten to the point now where schools treat regional championship like state championships. I see both sides of the argument and I do think the Sweet 16 has some big Pro's in it's favorite but the one big Con outweighs those pro's for me, IMO. The Sweet 16 is great for us fans and it's an awesome experience for students and fans alike, as well the players but I'd like to have more of them have a chance to win a state title in their own class, in the class with schools of the same size!!

I still don't think it means much at all. There have been many players who have rebounded and had a great game the 2nd time facing the same opponent. It happens all the time. Sure, it may be something that you make a note of but to try to predict his potential against that type of player in the future from that one game is just unreliable, IMO. Gillispie must feel the same way if he wants him.

Invited walk-on is probably the most accurate way to describe a preferred walk-on in NCAA sports. Rather than showing up and trying out, the colleges actively talk to these players and ask them to join the program as a walk-on.

That's great news!! Glad to see BCG getting kids from KY a shot at UK. I think that it is a great pick-up anyhow, but for free makes it even better. I think he will definately be a new fan favorite immediately at UK and I hope he makes the most of this opportunity to play in the SEC and show everyone that KY can play at that level. Congrats Landon!!

On the Greenup coaching thread he said he wasn't applying at GC and that he was happy at Raceland. I tend to think that says it all. Now, if it's someone just pretending to be him or not I don't know but if it is him than that pretty much some it up for me. I don't think he would say that if he wasn't planning on staying in Ramland. JMO!

Well, I take him for his word. He annouced here on Preps that he wasn't going anywhere and that he was happy at Raceland. I think that says it all right there.

You see that with every team at some point throughout the year, especially a team who lost 20+ games. I don't think that has anything to do with Parsley's, or any other coach on staff, ability to motivate the kids. I know Todd well and he would be an excellant choice for the girls position. He knows the game very well and the kids seem to really like him. I know that probably every single player to play for him would have nothing but great things to say about him. What he did with the boys' JV team this year was really great. They started playing well and won many games that I, or anyone else, thought they would win. He really did a great job of getting them ready to play and playing to the strengths of his team. Todd would be a fantastic choice for the girls team.

I really hate to say this but hiring Divk Vitale as a motivationa speaker couldn't have done anything with this years team. They just didn't have the talent to compete.

I've said from the very beginning that I completely understand your point. I've said it in about 4 post. I know that the process is not perfect. I do know that this is the correct way, it's best proven time after time in thousands of different official's community. I'm not saying that the process can't be tweaked to make it better. Everything can improve but there isn't a better overall process. If there was than the NCAA would implement it and the NFHS would follow. This is my last post on this thread.

Before the season starts coaches are given the opportunity to "scratch" officials.

:laugh: I guess all those camps and clinics and meetings that I've been to over the yrs means nothing and makes you an expert. You know, you're on here writing that the KHSAA needs to do this and needs to do that because they can't get officials to come out. The sad thing, is that people like you are part of the problem.
