Last I heard, he was crossing to the sunny side and going to Jeff. Word was Beatty would not release him so he would not have been able to play at any school in Louisville.

For St X, on offense the most underrated would be Daniel Passafiume (WR). I think you will see a couple of the new defensive guys step out of the shadows. With 11 new starters, one ore more of these guys will shine during the year. Pat Bisig (MLB) Harrison Huelsman (DB), Nick Heuser (LB) , and Brad Schmidt (DT). Saw the following on Scout.com or insidetheville.com a little while back: St.X High School will feature one of the state's best this fall in senior running back Vic Anderson, but the Tigers may also have one the hidden gems that surface during the '06 season in defensive end Bradley Schmidt. After entering high school at 6-foot, 160-pounds, Bradley Schmidt has added nearly 3 inches and 70 pounds to his frame and now easily passes the 'eye test' for a potential college defensive end or tight end. After turning in a strong performance at the Scout.com All-American Combine last Saturday, Schmidt ... Everyone knows to watch out for Anderson, but from some things I hear, I believe the key to this season may be that the defense could be very good IF all 11 new starters can gel quickly.

X is in real trouble if you shut down our vaunted passing attack:D I think this year, more than the past 'couple' , X will run,run,run. With a smaller but more agile and agressive line and Vic, Duece and Eckman in the backfield, I don't think a lack of a big passing game is going to be the determining factor in most games. All they will want to do is throw an occasional pass to keep the defense honest. Don't be fooled though, with Passafiume and a couple of the juniors, I think we will be able to catch a couple of balls this season.

1) I hear the same thing. Add to the fundamentals the aspect of a little more agile and, word is, more aggressive. This group will do well in my opinion. 3) I was not referring directly to the state game but a more long term goal they had when some of them dressed varsity as sophs. That was: to win a state title each year they were varsity players. So, last year was a bump in the road after winning in 2004. The 'unfinished business' is more about these seniors winning state in their year. From talking to some of them, it's not about 'payback' as much as a focus of them getting the job done while it's their turn in the leadership role. The seniors are a really tightnit group who will give it their all to succeed. I would call that 'paying forward' as you call it. I think Tiger fans will like what they see out of this years team in terms of chemistry and effort.

As much as it pains me to say... the Rocks should start out #1. Defending champs have a right to start out there, then..... Let the fun begin!!!!

I think this is a real possibility. With more new starters than usual, an early loss would help them focus. The talent is there to make another strong run by the end of the season.

I don't think there will be a better opening game this year than BG - X! The puples may have lost a lot a players but they still have Hibbert running behind Stuart Hines. A challenge for any defense. Their defense may not be as strong overall as last year but they have key LB's and secondary coming back so they should still be strong. X does have a lot of gaps to fill on both sides of the ball. On offense the two big questions are 1) how well can this years 'sub - 300' guys replace Elder and Jeffries? and more importantly, 2) who will try to replace Curley. Not just talent but Leadership. He provided intangibles that are hard to replace! Vic and Co. will have to carry the load early until someone steps up and provides leadership out of the QB spot. On defense, I think this years D will take a little while to gel as there are 11 new starters. I hear this group could surprise some people with how strong they may be. Across the front will be a group that is (10 - 20 lbs) heavier than last year and quicker. I think running on this line will be a challenge. Some solid LB's and DB's fill in the back seven. There seems to be a really strong chemistry in this group and a good mix of seniors and juniors. As usual, a tough defense will be put up by the X-men. I think they are very committed and feel there is unfinished business from last year. As for the game: St.X - 24 BG - 14

Agreed! I think this is a big point. Last year everyone seemed to believe 'big is better'. Don't get me wrong they were good players but not necessarily real agressive. This years linemen are a more agressive group and certainly more agile. I think that will help them more than pure size due to the blocking schemes they run. Ott, Sinclaire and company are a close-nit group who I think are going to give it their all. Word is the coaches are looking to move Jeff Androla from defensive guard to center. If he can transition he would really anchor the line with his size and strength. Motivation and attitude will overcome being sub-300lbs. Good group of kids.

Daniel does not appear to be part of the quarterback equation. I too am part of the group who believes he would have been the better option to replace Brent. But that's a non-issue at this point. If Daniel were 3" taller and a little stronger no one could bump him from the job. He is very smart, knows football very well and could run hte offense extrmely well. But hte coaches have made thei decision so Daniel is making himself a very reliable reciever.

My reference was to the season and the programs as a whole. NOT just the one game. They are both great programs, ask anyone in out in the state:D. If actually read my post you would see I was not whining or making excuses about your one shining moment! Yes, the Rocks did improve from Sept. to Dec. (how could they not!) and yes, the Tigers probably did get the big head from their press clippings(you've got to handle success). I have said on this board before and will say now, T out played X THAT night, they were hungry, congratulations! Even the ugly kid can be the prom king for a night... doesn't mean he's king the rest of the year. You will always thinks the rocks are best, I will always believe the Tigers are the best. Pretty simple. One answer, WHEN X wins they will will design a new one. New group of kids - new ring design. Back to the thread: I look forward to... 1. Good high school football 2. Hope that KHSAA doesn't screw up a good thing with shortsighted agendas 3. Another 4A championship trophy residing in Louisville

Leading up to the game most of the T fans/alumni were honestly scared to death how bad the score would get! There are logical Rocks fans out there , they are just not the one's on this board;) Yes they won the game that night but OX has got it right. X was the better team then and certainly will be the better team in 2006. GO Tigers:ylsuper:

I'm not saying I expect an ...wait, I'm always expecting an undefeated season:D ...but I just don't see them getting swept by BG andHHS. Those two plus T are a really tough trio, probably a loss in there somewhere. Even if they have not jelled, talent who got good reps last year and coaching will show up early. A early loss to one of those programs would teach the Tigers a lot about what needs to be done to be there on the last day. It's all about the journey. Learning is a season-long process.

Ummmm, probably not! X has a new starting 11 on defense and it will take some time for them to gel, but early word makes me think your scenario probably isn't likely.True, BG and HHS have a lot of returning talent but don't underestimate the talent the Tigers will put on the field come August. Then, when they do really gel at playoff time, the fun begins.

Have we??? I think one QB came close two years ago against some team in Papa John's one night in September It would be interesting if the foward pass was part of their game, wouldn't it:rolleyes:

If this is the case, we'll learn a lot about the X men early in the year as the Tigers play at BG then play HHS at PBS a couple of weeks later. Should be a great test :ylsuper:
