  1. I stated that LCA could name the score against Paris unless they were looking ahead to Lloyd. I'm not sure why that doesn't make sense. Does LCA never look further than that weeks opponent or are they looking even further ahead than Lloyd?

Usually teams "look ahead" to a rivalry game, playoff game, or some other sort of "big" game. Thats not a slap at Lloyd, just dont really understand why they would look past a district team to an ooc team thats not a rivarly.

  2. I was watching Morning Joe this am and Mika(sp) who is a BIG liberal said that democrats are kidding themselves if they think that Palin is not going to energize the female vote. Mika also said that her speech was inspiring to women of both sides...to which Chris Matthews replied "the Obama ticket has problems".

Just wanted to point out that this came from liberals...

  3. It was obvious to me watching the freshman scrimmage Spencer County that Montgomery County is on the upswing as far as football. I believe the main reason for this is much improved coaching at the middle school level. We went a few years with below average coaching and it show when these players got to high school. Coach Stockdale is doing a wonderful job at the middle school and has these kids learning to play hard every play, something I believe was missing with previous coaching staffs. Keep up the good work Coach Stockdale.

It's amazing to me they have a quality of a coach like Stockdale at their middle school. Coach Stockdale has the knowledge and experience to be a varsity HC anywhere. MC is lucky to have him...

  4. From what I have been told...TIFWIW...that it wasnt the water breaks that were the problem...but the amount of conditioning that was given. Keep in mind that 3 players fell out...not 2. 2 went to the hospital. Someone posted on the CJ site that the players ran 18 200's. That seems to be pretty extensive...Hope all involved come out OK. But I WAS NOT there...and received the info second hand. From everything Ive ever been told Stintson is a really good guy.

  5. I've met just about every major leader in DC...lol. And regardless of what you think of him...the most personable and comfortable to be around is GWB. W just has a way about him that lights up a room. That includes Clinton or anyone else. The one thing I've discovered about ALL....I repeat ALL....politicians is they only care about $$$$. If you have $$$$ to donate they got an ear for you. They care way more about being re-elected than issues.

I personally try to avoid Celebs when their around...I've met many, mostly when there is a reason...but I refuse to go up to a celebrity just to speak or get an autograph. And I have never understood adults hording for someone signature...

    Couple of funny stories....

One of my vendors gave me tickets to a Rascal Flatts concert with backstage passes. I was in the back in their hospitality room drinking their beer up and they came in the room (HUGE DORKS BTW!!!!) and one of them asked me If I had a pin on me...and I said no...and he said he didnt have one to sign an autograph for me!!! I laughed a little and told him I was good. Had another beer or two and left.

I was in Charlotte on biz and was getting a coffee at Dean and Deluca and Ric Flair was standing behind me....long story short we have a mutual friend through business. He gave me his cell phone # and wanted me to call him because he was interested in investing in my biz... I never called...lol He was pretty cool though.

  6. I'm still waiting to find out why cover ops couldn't have been used in Iraq instead of war.

Should have been used...was the original plan. But like I have already stated the old traditional guard INSIDE the Pentagon wanted to get the traditional military involved. Most insiders at the time thought the WAR would be a walk in the park (which it was). But what the traditional army has never had a lot of success in was nation building....One of our Special Forces (Army's Green Berets) specific jobs.

The IRAQ war should have been handled in the same way Afgan was handled. Not much we can do too change that now...

  7. I have a VERY CLOSE family member in "the know" as related to covert operations with Iran. He says that covert operations have been going on in Iran for over 5 yrs. Most of the operations were/are being conducted by a group right here in KY (5th SF Group out of Ft. Campbell). What he says is really going to happen is an Afganistan style of war. SF guys on the ground with heavy air power.

As far as the underground facilities than Iran is claimed to have...they are prepared for that.

He said that our Spec Ops Command wanted to handle Iraq in the same way but were pushed over by conventional war horses inside the pentagon who felt they were being left behind becuase of the success' in afganistan.

    TIFWIW

  8. To my knowledge, Webster never admitted to taking steroids, during his playing days but he did say one time, if he did take them they were legal.

Combine his constant helmet collisions, play after play and the various plethora of concoctions, you mentioned and you'll have tremendous problems. Include other enhancements and not knowing the side effects of them, would only increase health problems.

Can't see where we disagee...and as you said early...when used inappropriately can be dangerous...I totally agree...as is pretty much any prescription drug and even tylenol.

  9. What is comical in your honest opinion, about a substance when used inappropriately, can cause severe, long-lasting, and often irreversible health problems.

Like stunt the height of growing adolescents, kidney failure, heart attacks, strokes, liver damage, and psychiatric problems. I have no idea, if the enhancements Webster took, affected him and his brain function.

Whats comical is the "assumptions" people make. Webster died of heart failure. So automatically people say sterioids caused it....even though he was on a cocktail of prescriptions at the time of his death.

"Webster was often laced with a varying, numbing cocktail of medications: Ritalin or Dexedrine to keep him calm. Paxil to ease anxiety. Prozac to ward off depression. Klonopin to prevent seizures. Vicodin or Ultram or Darvocet or Lorcet, in various combinations, to subdue the general ache. And Eldepryl, commonly prescribed to patients who suffer from Parkinson's disease."

As I said....the "hysteria" is whats comical.

  10. Mike Webster suffered from dementia and other brain ailments...The doctors said when he died he had the brain function of a 100 yr old. This was caused by the estimated 25+ concussions he was thought too have sustained.

What did steroids have to do with that? The death rate for former NFL players is much higher than the average population...does that mean that all NFL players used steroids? Did Johnny U use them? Steroids must have caused Walter Paytons liver and kidney ailments.

Does that also mean that every middle age man who is taking TRT is going to die early becuase of "the roids".

The steroid hysteria is being blown SOOOO out of proportion it is becoming comical.

  11. Watched the video...

In no way did he disrespect Tubby...MJP said he left because he didnt see eye to eye with Tubby. Even if RR did say he didnt see eye to eye with Tubby that would be no big deal.

Him not understanding his role on the team is not his fault. I did like what he said about BCG though...and I would have loved to have seen that whole class play under BCG...that wouldve been fun.

  12. A thread in the general discussion got me a little fired up (again) and I thought this thread belongs here as govt has to fix it...

I am a former school teacher...but for the life of me I cannot figure out why we do not pay our school teachers more money. We are not going to attract the best individuals to the profession when they can make more money managing a Speedway.

Also, why do we not pay teachers based on merit? We pay them based on time of service. This is absolutely ridiculous. What other profession does this? You can be the best teacher in school yet make the same or less than the worst. Even the military promotes based on merit. The best lawyers make the most $$$, same for Docs, basically any other professional.

    What say you?

  13. Its sad... but I forsee this trend continuing. As long as we continue to pay teachers the way we are we are going to continue to see idiots move into the profession.

Teachers need to be paid based on merit not on YEARS OF SERVICE!!!! (but thats for another discussion!)
