Some Good Freshmen!!!
Yea your right Champs I completely forgot about Farrell. Your right he was the one starting in the region tourny and I think with that experience he should atleat start out as the number 1 catcher for the Colonels.

Baseball Equipment....Players Prefer which
Firebird, I haven't tried the Neumann batting gloves. It definitely sounds like they are very nice. If I wasn't loving my cutters I probably would check them out. My hands get so teared up during the season. With me now in college the swings per day go way up which makes the hands blister even more. So if I ever have a problem I might have to check them out.

Some Good Freshmen!!!
If Maile is that good then I think he definitely has a legit chance to be the catcher for the Colonels. Last year that was the only weak spot of there team. They had to use Larkin which has been said he is a natural 2b. When my summer ball team faced them that's where he was at. So with Browning graduating I figure it will be him and Schriever up the middle. The other catcher who saw time in the games I played against the Colonels not sure on the name but he was a lefty. I may be wrong but I think he graduated. So this job is up for battle. Not sure about the JV catcher but the Maile kid might end up with a job. Coach K is not afraid to throw fresh out there, recently Bleser and Blajeskowski both started as 9th graders.

Baseball Equipment....Players Prefer which
Regarding batting gloves check out cutters!! They are great and have worked very well for me the last 2 years. Every season I go through 3 or 4 pairs from my freshman year on up in highschool. But the last 2 years the one pair of cutters have been awesome and lasted me the whole season. Cutters is most popular for making wide receiver gloves. They now are making batting gloves and such I definitely recommend checking them out if your looking for a pair. They are by far the best I have used.

Should baseball be in class system?
Don't have anything to back myself up. I have no problem with how things our now but I honestly think you make good points and its a valid suggestion. I would definitely be open to it, but like you said it's doubtful the Khsaa will do anything to make this ever happen anytime soon.

I agree completely with the Corey posts. Only correction I have is that for baseball as an 8th grader he saw varsity time and started over 5 games. He earned a letter that year as well. As a freshman he was one of the best for the Rebels throughout the year and post season run starting at catcher while batting 3rd in the order. He should be even better this upcoming season. In basketball last year as a freshman he was the 6th man and even though he might have some starts this year at the games I have attended he was the 6th man once again. In football freshman year he started throughout the playoffs on defense and had the huge interception of Trevor Stellman in the 2nd round that he ran back for a TD. Then this season he played QB and RB for the Rebels. Don't know the stats but he was the KY Post running back of the year. The best part about this award was that he only played running back half of the season. The kid is only a soph. He has some astounding achievments and I look for those to keep piling up especially on the diamond.

Boone Co. 55 Conner 47
Boone played well tonight with a big game from senior Mike Storey. Boone will play Ryle next Friday to determine the 2 and 3 seed in the district. St.Henry has secured the one seed and Conner went 0-3 taking the 4 seed.

Best pitchers in the 10th
I agree Romeo. Campbell is returning alot they did loose their lefty but should be able to replace him no problem. I think Campbell will be right in it once again this year. Also you got Clark County who is always good and no one is talking about. Along with Clark even though Harrison lost everything they remind me of Cov Cath in the 9th, they just reload every season. I think Scott will be a good team next year and will battle at the top in the 10th but I honestly don't see them winning this region. The pitching they have is ok but not enough to win a regional championship.

Conditioning?
Yea the pitchers bible is a good one... Since were talking about pitching. For my college team of course run, run and, run. Be in shape it not only helps you on the mound and in the field but will prepare you for what goes on at the college level. My college team right now is 2 weeks from our opening game and our pitchers unless they are thowing a pen do this...........Run either distance or a combination of sprints and stair work. We position players also do the stairs. It helps in many areas. Agility, strength, and conditioning are all being improved on with the stair work... They do a nice core/ab workout doing about 5 exercises 25 times each. They also do Jobes(dumbbell workout) and a thing called scapular series. I can't explain this one maybe someone can help explain what it is? Just wanted to you know give you guys an example..So far from what i have seen all the posts have been on the money with what it takes to be in proper shape and they all numerous times listed stuff that you will do at the college level.

Structured Practices
Thank you strike 3......I am definitely working alright  !!!! It is a wake up call once you start practice with all you get done in just 3 hours. I never realized you could get that much done in only so little time haha. But anyway great suggestions guys and like I said earlier the practice plan is an essential piece to having a well run practice.

Conditioning?
RUN RUN AND MORE RUNNING. That is college baseball, honestly I think more needs to be put into conditioning at the highschool level to prepare kids for the next level. And I know anyone who plays will definitely agree with me on this one.

Structured Practices
Great suggestions guys. I am currently playing college baseball right now and the practice plan is up everyday for us. It has helped me tremendously. Having it all planned out definitely works. It is very beneficial and we get so much more done.

NCC 51 Boone County 48
Boone County had the lead with about 3 minutes left in the game. The Rebels are staying with people just not finding a way to win right now. Good win for the Thoroughbreds, Kiernan dominated in the first half with 12 points coming in the first quarter.

St.Henry 53 Boone County 47 (OT)
St. Henry came from behind after being down 12 points near half time to start out 2-0 in district play.

Final. Boone County was leading at halftime but could not make shots down the stretch.

Champs I definitely agree with you.....With beechwood Chas Moore will be a great addition and I think he is going to be a very big part of that team. I have played summer ball with him the past 2 years and he is a great player. He will be a key asset for the tigers and may even help them get over the top and dethrone the Colonels, who like you said have a bunch of good players and will be hard to knock off like usual. St.Henry I do agree will be a tough team next season. Is grieme back? Cause if so that just makes them even better. Also on Shanks he plays SS and 2b not 3rd. He maybe did during summer ball but whenever I have played against him he was at those 2 places or the mound. That district the 33rd will be very tough to get out of this season. You look at Ryle they return 2 of there top 3 pitchers from last year in Hughes and Humphries. They also have that whole infield coming back. Then you look at Conner with Eder who is a very good pitcher. They will be very young but talented. If Wycoff can mature those young players throughout the season they can also make a run and beat anyone in the region with Eder on the hill. Then finally the Rebels of Boone. They lost a lot from a region final four team and district champs but they return Farris and Dietz who I think are among the areas top 10 players. You put Dietz on the mound they can beat anyone in the region when he is on. It will be very interesting to see how this district plays out. IMO those district seeding games will mean more than ever this year because that 1st round bye will be a huge advantage when it comes to the pitching. It always is big to be able to save your ace for that district final four game but this season I definitely see it playing a huge role for which one of those teams make it to the region.

Ellliot has definitely carried that pitching staff for Sk the last few years. I agree on that and I think he will have a very solid season for the Neers this year as well. He has great command and is just a solid pitcher. You see him warming up and think your team will have no problem hitting him but he just goes out there and gets the job done.
-
What about the lefties!?
Thank you colonel crazy for praising my boys and Andy Dietz. I definitely think he will have a great year for the rebels. He will have to carry the team on his back from them mound. I know he is working hard this off season so hopefully it will pay off for him and Boone.

Highlands 53 Boone County 52
Ok a lot closer than expected but the Rebels played tough and had a chance at pulling this game out.

The lefty from Boone County is Andy Dietz. He will have a great year and be a stud for the rebels on the mound and with his bat as well.
