  1. They were actually fairly solid. I won't say that they were great or anything, but they were a solid club who will be very competitive this year. Great team effort by the Panthers tonight in their opener.
  2. Thats great Joe! Now I have to wait until this weekend, and its just and intersquad game! BUT...Monday March 26= OPENING DAY for the Pikeville Panthers!! :dancingpa
  3. This thread is to simply vent on the weather... Pikeville High was supposed to have a scrimmage tomorrow against Russell, but due to the unfriendly weather man...It has been cancelled! :fire: :fight: :fight: I'm slightly ticked because I was ready to go! Anyone else dealing with similar predicaments?
  4. I can't say I want either to win! I abstain and hope for a draw!
  5. Pikeville and Paintsville always have strong feeder programs...
  6. Thanks a lot, guys. Both of you! I know, me too FB! Without question some of the best times of my life! But, hey, I'm pretty sure we will still be crossing paths! Absolutely Strike, two of the best academic schools in the state! And I really appreciate that! I may need a good reference! ---At the same time, I am not saying that high school isn't important, because it absolutely is. All I wanted to say was that without summer/fall ball, I may not have gotten any oppurtunity to play college ball, period. And I know I am not the only one. When you are not a stud in baseball, you need people to see you throw full games, and not just a single workout. Having an "extra" season to be seen, can be very beneficial.
  7. We are sure going to try here in Pikeville. Of course, the turf makes that a little more managable.
  8. I loved playing at Corbin, and Pikeville definitely has one of the nicest surfaces, but it needs a good cleaning up...
  9. I would almost argue for summer ball here, SF1977. At least in my situation. Being from a small school in EKY, I haven't had much of a chance to be looked at, but thanks to playing in the summer/fall, I will be choosing from two different schools after their scholarship offers in a week or two. I can see the other side of the argument, and it is more than valid! It just worked out that summer ball was more beneficial to me when it came to being looked at.
  10. :thumb: Why not Strike??? Secrets don't make friends! :thumb:
  11. Mine is the 27th! Unfortunately, if I showed up to join you guys, I would be taken to jail! ...Something about underage drinking or some nonsense like that...lol
  12. Ditto! I can't wait! I'm up for a preview!
  13. It was a game over an hour away, at 8:00, on a church/school night...
  14. East Ridge? Magoffin County??? What makes you think they can step it up a notch this year?
  15. Can you explain to me how giving them more money will improve the officiating? Seems to me, that the pay increase will just bring in more slackers who think they can make some easy money. I'm not saying a pay raise would be a bad thing to officials who do their job well, but how can you raise some payroll, and not all of it? The only solution I see to better officiating, is by weeding out the "less than acceptable" officials in training. The "rule" you mentioned about the "75 to 80 percent of officials being solid and upstanding" is a stat completely fabricated in your head. I can say with confidence that in the 15th region at least, there is nowhere near that percentage. If you want my fabricated stat, I would say that less than 50% are acceptable. I do agree that something needs to be done in the turnover rate of officials. If new, young officials are not there to take the place of the older officials, then we will continue to repace them with the so called "slackers" who are controlling the games. Just my thoughts.....
  16. No one has posted much about the 15th lately, so I thought I would give it some airtime! What are your thoughts on the teams this year?
  17. Agreed. Corbin's facilities are great! One of the best grass fields I have ever played on.
  18. I would have said Lawson at Pikeville without question...But.... One would have to go with Garmon at Corbin if only due to sheeer success. He has a perennial power house down there! :thumb: Same can be said about Randy Keaton at Lawrence. Great coach as well as a great guy!
