  1. I don't believe coaching lost that game. As for this one, I missed the first game between these two, but I agree, WV should win by 10-15. I look for Sartwell to start getting a little more time. He flat out got with it on Friday in the limited time he was given. It will be interesting to see how Hensley plays with his injury.
  2. I did leave Tungate out, didn't intend to slight him in any way. He has been huge for the cats lately.
  3. Gallatin is having a very nice season. Davis is playing well, and seems to have quite a bit of talent surrounding him. He gets a bad rap from some posters on here, but he could play for me any day. As always, GC is very well coached.
  4. Walton will struggle in this game. I agree they have looked better the past two games. Even with Blackburn out and Howe at 70-80%, WV can't handle Grant at the guard position. It will take HUGE games from Daugherty, Hensley, and much improved guard play for Walton to pull this one off.
  5. From Walton-Verona, John "Frenchy" Demoisey. He was Adolf Rupp's first recruit at UK, captain of the '34 cats, and also an All-American in '34. Of course, I was not around to see him play, but, from some of the stories from the old-timers around Walton, it was amazing was he brought to the game in his time.
  6. Sorry to hear that. I enjoyed watching him play, and from what I have heard from his opponents, he is a class act on the floor. Good luck to the Braves down the stretch, I know this is a hard hit for Kinman and the boys.
  7. Unless they go to man D or at least extend their zone, good shooters will kill them. Wombles was a big spark in the first half, and Jones hit some big FTs down the stretch.
  8. He missed a practice this weekend. Do the crime, do the time. It was nice to see them use their strength inside. Reggie and Frank compliment each other well when they can play their game.
  9. Yes, they are hard to come by this year at the dub-v...
  10. The guard play was better, but far from good. No, it didn't work, as usual.
  11. Reggie Hensley hit a shot at the end of regulation to send this game into OT, and then hit one at the buzzer to send it to the 2nd OT. Franklin Daugherty paced the Bearcats with 26 points. I believe O'Toole had 22 and Sutherland 20 for the Rebels. Walton had a 12 point lead at one time that was erased by the three point shooting of Owen County. A very exciting game to watch. This one was up for grabs until the final buzzer, as the Rebels had 2 chances to tie it at the end of the 2nd OT. A gutsy performance by both squads. Hopefully, Walton can carry some momentum from this game into Friday's district matchup at Grant County.
  12. It will be sad to see the old field go. I know a lot of young men have put many hours of work into getting it into the shape it is in today. Congrats to the alma mater!
  13. See post #1. This would pretty well fit the definition of a drastic change. Honestly, I watched this group play all summer. They are worse now as a team, than they were in May and June. They need to try anything they can, because the guard play can't get any worse.
  14. Other than Daugherty, care to elaborate on who you think the "real players" are. I sure haven't seen anyone even make an attempt to step up this year. Nobody on this team is playing up to their potential, not Daugherty, not Tungate, not Hensley. Unless these three really step it up and take control of the games, they may not win another game this season. They are getting zero help, and it is causing them to try and force shots that aren't there.
  15. I don't know a lot about the romes kid. I did gwt to watch him play a few times last year, I will have to say that I was impressed with him.
  16. A pretty exciting game to watch. I thought WV played awful in the first half, but found themselves down only one at the half, 27-26. GC had built a double digit lead in the first, but WV came back, somehow. As was expected, WV had no answer for Josh Davis. A very nice game out of him. It seemed like WVwas determined to make him beat them, as they stayed packed in a zone for 3 1/2 quarters. Well, he did. I will say that unless Coach Bennet is ready to write this season off, some DRASTIC changes need to be made at the guard position. GC is a well coached, disciplined team. I can see where they could jump up and surprise some people down the road. I'm still scratching my head, trying to figure out how WV was even in this game. GC sure didn't help themselves with the refs, as one played received a "T" for what seemed to be taunting, and one fan was ejected from the premicise. WV actually had a shot to win it at the buzzer, but solid GC defense forced them to take a shot that I am sure was not what they had drawn up. There were some signs of life in WV tonight, they seemed to dominate the glass, but 25-30 turnovers per game just isn't going to cut it at any level.
  17. Didn't realize Haddix was that good of a football player, probably because I haven't seen him though. Is he looking to play college football over basketball, or wanting to play both?
  18. If any of you SK fans are going, look me up. I am usually at the concession end of the gym on the WV side. I will either be holding my baby and/or with my mom who is in a wheelchair. We are not hard to spot.
  19. If it ends up with the score you posted, WV will have played their best game of the year. They play with all the heart you could ask for, but the decisions and skills are lacking in too many areas.
  20. In all honesty, and I am a WV alumni, you are not giving SK enough credit. WV is really struggling this year with the loss of three starting guards from last years team. It pains me to say this, and my brother won't be too happy with me, but I'll say SK 82-52.
  21. This is sad. I have kept quiet on this issue so far, but to not even give the kids a chance to compete and prove themselves is just wrong. Grow up and play the hand you are dealt.
