Football in Walton-Verona Future?
CatFanatic replied to All Play No Work's topic in KY Football (High School)
Yes, 1A is where they would be. While it will be better than, say 3 or 4A, they will still take it on the chin for a while with the 1A powers in this area. Hopefully, they can build a nice program over time. -
  He does tend to get a little trigger happy.

He is still having some mild pain. It should not hinder hi splaying any, though. Just like I told him, there is no way it can hurt his shooting.

I agree they should win this one. I don't know what you condiser big. I think they win by 10-12 points. This team, like last years, does not have the killer instinct. They don't know how to put people away.....not that they have had too many chances to do so this season.

Football in Walton-Verona Future?
CatFanatic replied to All Play No Work's topic in KY Football (High School)
Perhaps I wasn't clear in my post. I lieu of their players going into the BCPWFL draft, they may form a school team to play with those others I mentioned. I did not mean to imply that WV was putting a team in the BC league. I just realized how awkward it looked to see Walton Verona's name in the football forum. -
Football in Walton-Verona Future?
CatFanatic replied to All Play No Work's topic in KY Football (High School)
From what I am hearing from board members, they have not decided if the will recommend the Boone County PeeWee League, or if they will run a "school" program and compete with Grant, Gallatin, Owen adn Pendleton. I, personally would like to see the kids involved in the BCPWFL, if for nothing more than the competition level. -

Gallatin Co.'s pre-All-A schedule
CatFanatic replied to CatFanatic's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
That was a tough draw for all three schools. -
^^What season have you been watching? 3 w's 4 l's against the other 8th Region A teams. How are they the team to beat?

^^^The only reason I say W'town, is because of where it is being played.

All A is at Williamstown. Yes, this is anybody's tourny, but I would have to give the nod to W'town for obvious reasons.....and yes they will get crushed at EKU.

Simon Kenton @ Grant County Round 2 Predictions
CatFanatic replied to SKNEERS's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
With Howe and Riley SK by 15. Without them, SK by 25+. -
I agree. It seems to be more wide open this year, than in any year I can remember. I honestly think that there are five or six teams with a legitimate shot to win it this year. Should be a fun tournament to watch.

Anybody Watching Oak Hill on CSTV?
CatFanatic replied to Mr. No Name's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
CSTV carried another game from this tournament last night. I love seeing these guys play on a national stage. It really lets everyone see what high school basketball is like at the elite level. -
I was looking at GC's schedule. What do you think about them having 10 days off going into the All A? I know they will be well rested, but I have never been a fan of setting idle for that long. It makes one rusty. I know they are having a great season so far, I would hate to see them not play their best because of a long rest.

Yes, I watched this game. What amazed me was that they were 8 or 9 deep and still pulling D1 players off the bench. -
Carroll Co. 67 Gallatin 64 OT
CatFanatic replied to Mack The Knife's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
That sounds like one heck of a game, Mack. I am really looking forward to this years 8th Region All A. It seems like literally any team could win it this year. How did the Miller kid from Carroll play? WV plays them on Tues., which will be a preview of their first round All A game. -

I don't consider them the favorite. With that said, having seen all of the A schools play, I don't see how you could count anyone out. It seems to me to be as even a playing field as you will see. On second thought......I will call Williamstown the fav... -

I think SK wins big. If Hensley isn't 100%, no need to risk further injury in this game. All A is just around the corner. I would rather have him healthy for that. -
Gallatin Co. 52 Owen Co. 47
CatFanatic replied to Mack The Knife's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
There's always room at the WV. Seriously, like you said, they seem to make plays when it is needed. This could be the most exciting All "A" regional in recent memory. I don't think any game will be a given this year. Any team on any given night can walk away with a W. -
I would say that I was watching WV basketball long before you were. Do I agree with all of Coach Bennet's decisions, no. If, that's a big if, Sullivan were head coach, would I agree with all of his decisions, no. You have to have guys that can shoot, handle the ball, and play defense in order to win basketball games against decent competition. WV is lacking in all of these categories. There are some fans who are going to disagree with any coach you throw out there. Maybe he doesn't play the style of ball you like. That doesn't, in itself, make him a bad coach. As Steelcurtain pointed out, Kyle does what he feels gives the 'Cats the best chance to stay in the ballgame. They have played some MTM D late in the games lately, and it has worked. It will work for brief periods of time. They simply do not have the horses to play MTM for 32 minutes. They will tire and end up getting blown out anyway. I have not always been the biggest Bennet supporter, but he is not losing games for WV, nor is he holding anything back. He is doing what he feels needs to be done to try and keep this team competitive. Just my $.02.

Steelcurtain, you have a better grasp on this team than most of its "fans". I resepct and fully agree with your post. BTW, Hensley is out for at least a week with a bone chip and "minor" tendon damage in that finger.
