  1. The one that nobody had mentioned is Coach J.D. Bussell at Rockcastle County High School. He has a brilliant mind for the game. I will also second the notion for the coaching staff at Corbin. Coach Garmon is a class act.
  2. It doesn't matter how many nice, high-flying dunks you have if you don't win the game.
  3. This absolutely GREAT news to hear from back home. I haven't been able to call anyone from back home in a few days to get the latest news but this is certainly awesome to hear about. I hope he picks the Cats. He would be a great pick-up for them. The Cats also wouldn't have to worry about the grades because if I'm not mistaken I was told that he has at least a 3.5 GPA if not better.
  4. Sorry for just now getting back to this thread. Like I have told BigZig, I was just relaying what I had heard. If it's not true at the current time then I apologize for posting the thread.
  5. From great sources that I have, I found out yesterday that defensive coordinator Randy Borchers will named head coach next week. What does everyone think about this potential hire?
  6. Theyor thnking, along with most All A sized schools, is that if they can draw into the bracket with one of the weaker teams then they'll have a better shot at making the regional tournament. I don't like the blin draw and think that all districts should seed but until the KHSAA steps in and makes it mandatory to seed then we'll have to live with the blind draw.
  7. If I'm not mistaken from overhearing conversations while checking in last year, the coaches didn't like it as much because the fields weren't as accessible as they are down in Cocoa. If you've ever been down there when Boyd County is it looks like they run the show because of the number of players, coaches and fans that they have. Again the above statement was what I had heard from the coaches themselves. As far as the scheduling, I think that it's a good idea to play a mixture of both in-state and out-of-state teams while down there. If you can suggest playing the better teams in KY (especially the ones that you wouldn't normally get to play) and the better names programs from the list of teams that will be down there can only make your team better. I absolutely LOVE the experience that you get from being down at Cocoa. I like to think of it as a baseball camp cause you can have games at any time during the day and you eat in the cafeteria there on site. I will say that once the Florida Marlins left Cocoa as its spring training site that it has not been kept up well but you've also got to think that there have been a bunch of hurricanes go through that area in recent years too.
  8. I'll go ahead and predict that Wolfe County will defeat a very scrappy Jackson City team for their first 55th District championship.
  9. I too think that they should keep it the way that it is. It's one of the great treasures that we have in Kentucky high school basketball that sets us apart from all the other states that do it wrong.
  10. I know that Rockcastle County will once again be traveling down to the Cocoa Expo along with the softball team. Nice to see the girls going on a routine basis. The Rockets and Lady Rockets will be traveling down there during the first week of the season. What are some of the other teams that will be traveling down there for their spring break besides Ashland Blazer, Russell, Letcher County Central, Ballard Memorial and Boyd County? I know that all of these teams go during the second week of the season except Boyd County....the KHSAA website doesn't have anything on the site for them but they almost ALWAYS go to the Cocoa Expo.
  11. I know Boyd County always has a BUNCH of players when we see them down at the Cocoa Expo in Cocoa FL. They of course have the varsity but they take what I call the JV A team along with the JV B team as well. You know you've arrived at Cocoa when you see the coaches riding around on golf carts and the players are scattered ALL OVER THE PLACE down there.
  12. The strongest regions out there are the 6th, 7th, 9th and 11th with the 10th, 12th, 2nd and 5th close behind.
  13. I get you now. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: I hadn't read much of the postings in the Trinity ring thread so I guess thats where I got the confusion from. LOL. I just looked at the ring. I can't wait til the day that my team can't get rings like this. Their state runner-up rings are sweet but they'd be sweeter if it were a state championship ring. Also wanted to congratulate the Red Devils on bring the state rings to the fingers of some public school kids. :ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper:
  14. I don't exactly know if Highlands has been playing up in recent years but they've definitely been borderline 2A/3A for a few years. The link that I am providing is the current year enrollment figures by size that the KHSAA has on it's site. it's a PDF file and has ever school listed...note that this include those non-football playing schools too. http://www.khsaa.org/reports/2005and2006averanegschoolenrollmentbyenroll.pdf
  15. I think he meant South Oldham. LOL. I'd sure hate it for any team in NKy to be in a district with South Laurel...simply based upon the travel that they'd ave to do for every game. Heck the district that Rockcastle County is in rght now has probably some of the longest road trips for any district in the state.
  16. Those are some really sharp Class 2A State Championship rings. Glad that they went to a public school. :ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper: Just wondering about this...why would they have to get Owensboro Catholic's permission to put anything resembling their school name on the ring???
  17. You are correct with that responce there stickymitts. I had to stop listening to get information for a GEO 101 paper (my computer doesn't multi-task well) but thoroughly enjoyed listening to Philip. He really sounds like he knows what he's doing and is MUCH better than some folks that I've listened to or watched who don't have a team in the game (these people need to stay neutral as Philip has).
  18. http://www.wekyam.com/ Everyone please thank hokiefromky for finding this link. Apparently this station is covering EVERY All "A" Classic game including the girls games too.
  19. In the 12th Region look for Pulaski County, Southern, Casey County AND Rockcastle County to battle it out for region supremecy. I'm not sure which teams will have the best years cause I don't know what the first three have coming back but I look for all four teams to have some knock down drag out fights ths year.
  20. Just wanting to know if there were any radio stations covering the Boys All A Classic that would be offering streaming broadcasts on the internet. If so could you please provide the times and internet sites that will be doing so. THANKS!!!!
  21. Some of the places the I have liked watching games from woul have to be Sheldon Clark (they call is "The Rock" but Rockcastle County showed them twice who the real Rock was), Whitley County, Bell County, Danville's Admiral Stadium, Ashlan's Putnam Stadium, Covington Catholic (BUT only when it was a grass field...the new turf doesn't do it for me), Somerset's "Briar Patch", Southwestern's "Reservation", and most importantly...RockBoss totally has it right...THE ROCK on Friday nights behing Rockcastle County Middle School is by far the best place to watch a game from. I don't mean to sound biased but it definitely is.
  22. AMEN to that!!!! The coaching staff at Rockcastle County follows something along those lines and it's done them well for years. This is totally bogus. I know that in a pitcher's mind he can throw forever but when his fastball isn't moving like in the first couple innings and his curve or slider doesn't break as much either....THEN IT'S TIME TO TAKE HIS OUT NO MATTER WHAT HE THINKS!!!! I guess this philosophy has gotten Bell County baseball to where it is today.
