  4. Logan Smith Calloway County High School RB/LB 2026 What were your goals entering the 2023 season, and were you able to achieve those goals? I achieved most of my goals. I was selected All-Conference and selected Defensive POY by my teammates. Team goals fell short. I wanted to get to the playoffs, but that just makes me hungry for next season. What were the high and low points of the 2023 season? The biggest low for me was the loss that eliminated us from the playoffs. The high point came with our team's first win. I felt like we were clicking. Which road game did you like the least during the 2023 season, and why did you dislike it so much? Hopkinsville because I felt we could have played much better. What are the best and worst parts of playing high school football? The best part is the teammates and friendships. I also love the competition and off-season grind. I’m not sure there is a bad part to playing football. What do you believe is your strongest talent as a football player? My motor! I don’t take plays off. Effort and attitude are never an issue. What do you feel you have to improve on the most before taking the field this season? I’ve gained 25 pounds and lots of strength since the season. I don’t think I’m slow, but I’d like to improve my speed. I’ve been working to improve in this area. I also plan to be a leader for my teammates. I was team captain as a sophomore and hope to be a more vocal leader my junior season. What have you been doing to help you become a better player? I’ve spent lots of time in the weight room and started track in February. I’ve also been attending a weekly leadership meeting with my coach to improve in that area as well. You are listed as a running back and a linebacker. Which position do you feel you are better at? Explain I feel I’m a better LB. I do a great job reading my keys and love the position. Of the two positions (running back and linebacker), which one is the hardest for you to prepare for? Explain Probably LB because of all the film studies. I watch offense films too, but I love the process of trying to know what my opponent is going to do based on their formation. In some cases, they tell the story based on which foot is back or where their eyes are pre-snap. Who was the best player you faced last season, along with the team he played for? Kayden Custard is from Harrison Country. What is the worst type of weather for you to play in? In 7th grade, I played in an all-star game, and it was windy, sleeting, and snowing. It was fun, but awful at the same time! Where should the state finals be held? Kroger Field What is the one food that you refuse to eat? Turnip Greens What is your favorite class or subject? History is my favorite subject. Math is my favorite class because I love my teacher. What scares you? I never want to let my teammates or family down. I don’t do it often because the thought of it scares me. I never want to be that guy. 7. Kolter Smith Position played: QB Louisville Male High School Class: 2024 Georgetown College What are you going to miss the most about playing high school football? Friday Night Lights, GAMEDAY, pep rallies, bus trips, and pregame meals with my teammates. What were your emotions walking off the field after your last high school game? I didn’t believe it was really over. I tried to keep it together for my teammates, but I honestly had a breakdown moment where I just wanted to get away and allow the emotions to flow. It’s very hard to explain, but it was a crazy sad moment. What made playing for Male so special? Tradition, both on and off the field. Having a strong winning program brings high expectations but also a lot of pride. Our alumni are so supportive, our Momma Dawgs take care of our team, we have the best coaches and staff in the state, and our school support makes Male a special place. What mark do you believe your class left on the football program? It was very important for our class to secure a victory in the "Battle of the Barrel" for the 10th consecutive year, leaving a decade-long legacy against our oldest rival, and we were able to do that! Additionally, we were just a few games away from becoming the most winning program in the country—an achievement that would solidify Male’s place in history, so I believe we left Male in a great place to achieve that goal. In watching your Hudl highlights, the thing that sticks out the most to me is how you are able to make it look easy by hitting the receiver in stride, especially on your longer passes. Besides arm strength, what else goes into making throws look that easy? Reps, reps, and more reps. Really working on a strong base, eyes, upper body control, and footwork makes it easier to deliver the ball on time and on target. I’ve also been blessed with some great teammates and strong receivers that make my job much easier! If you could add one opponent for Male to face, who would it be and why? I would have loved to play in Valdosta, GA, this past season. They are #1 in overall wins, and Male is #2. It would have been fun to play them and try to gain an extra game for all-time wins. What were the high and low points of your high school football career? Definitely playing in the “Battle of the Barrel." It is one of the biggest rivalry games in the country, and to play in front of a crowd of over 10,000 people was special. Being able to lead our team to victory and celebrate with my teammates was such a surreal and unforgettable experience. The biggest low was losing to Frederick Douglass in our playoff game this season. If you could change one rule in high school football, what would it be, and why? Reclassification. I think all players should remain in their correct class. Watching players drop down a class just to be more competitive shouldn’t be allowed. What have been the biggest challenges you've faced in your football career, and how have you overcome them? As a quarterback, there are unspoken ‘intangibles’ that come with the position. Height being one of the biggest, I continue to hear from college recruiters. I’ve treated this challenge the same as any challenge, head-on. I’m focused on what I can control: my work ethic, attitude, and focus to be the best QB I can be. I don't worry about the ones that I can’t control. As a quarterback, and a very good one, how much time did you spend in the film room on your own? The one thing that I believe really allowed me to separate myself from my competition was the amount of time I spent in the film room and on Hudl. I think I watched more films than the rest of the team combined. I’m very coachable, and I love learning new schemes and concepts while looking at different defenses and studying how they will react, breaking them down, and exposing them. Coach Wolfe was really big on film sessions, and I believe he has prepared me for the next level. What advice, if asked, would you give to the next male quarterback? Don’t try to be anyone but yourself. Buy into the importance of video and film study; watch more video each week on yourself and your opponents. Appreciate the opportunity and respect the tradition that male high school brings, and lead the way! Would you share with us some of the colleges that recruited you? I was very lucky to have some great school visits, meet some awesome coaches, and receive 41 offers to play college football. My top 5 were Georgetown College, Mt. Saint Joseph, Keiser University, Mount Union, and Indiana Wesleyan. What has been the best and worst part of the recruiting process? It’s definitely a journey; it takes a lot of work to get exposure and get your name out there. I really loved visiting different schools and meeting the coaches. The toughest part was calling and communicating with coaches that you didn’t select. You make some good relationships, and you don’t want to disappoint anyone, but in the end, you can only choose one. I would just say never treat a school like you’re better than it; every opportunity is worth looking at because you never know where a coach could end up in the future. What is one sport you wish you could play but do not really have the skill set to do so? Link to interview with the pics https://hearltlandfan15.blogspot.com/2024/02/2024-interview-with-kolter-smith-ffrom.html Golf Who is your favorite athlete? Aaron Rodgers What is the one food you refuse to eat? Eggs Link to
  8. Asher Avery Hart County Tackle, Guard 2024 What were your personal goals heading into your senior season, and were you able to achieve those goals? develop better as an athlete and help my team as much as I can. I was able to watch your season opener against Spencer County, and after the game, I walked away saying you guys were in for a good, if not great, season. How important was it for you guys to have kicked off the season with a win in the bowl game? A win in the bowl game set the tone for how the rest of the season should've been. Everybody knew we could go far after that game. What mark do you believe your class left the football program? I think we really set the standard for how Hart County Football should continue to play and try to strive to do the same things, if not more, than our class. What will you miss the most about playing high school football? I'm definitely going to miss my brothers and playing for Coach Griffin. What were the high and low points from your senior season? Every part of the season was a high. In all of the games you play, who was the best team you ever played against, and why do you think they were so good? The best team we played was easily Bell County. Our defense just couldn't stop their run game. There is a lot of respect for them. Did it seem like your senior season went by faster than previous seasons? Absolutely. I had the most fun playing this past season. The last time we spoke, via interview, you said that your biggest weakness is getting into position for up-field blocks. Was you able to turn that into a strength during your final high school season? It definitely took me a minute to turn it into a strength. Towards the middle of the season, I was able to make those blocks. I know that you have an offer from Greenville University. Can you name another school or two that are looking at you? I have an offer from Union College, but I believe I'm off their radar now. Aside from Greenville University, Kentucky Christian University is looking to offer me What has been the best part of the recruiting process? I would say the feeling of getting looked at and contacted by coaches is the best part of it. What has been the worst part of the recruiting process? There hasn't been a bad part of the recruiting process. It's all been great. If possible, will you be taking part in any Hart County games in 2024? I'm definitely going to hit some of the games. I got to show some support for the upcoming seniors. They're my dawgs. What is the one food you refuse to eat? Soybeans are absolutely disgusting to me. What was the last book you read along with the author? Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck Who is your favorite athlete? I would have to say that Andrew Whitworth is my favorite athlete. Ever since I was young, I've always kind of looked up to and loved the way he played the game. 9. Da'Von Martin Jr. DeSales High School WREC/SLOT/DB 2025 Heading into the 2023 season, what were your personal goals, and were you able to achieve those goals? Going into the season, my personal goal overall was to make a name for myself because I've been overlooked my whole life and had people doubt me multiple times, so proving myself was my main goal, and I completed it because I started getting some respect from the city and some division of interest. What were the high and low points of the 2023 season? My high points throughout the season were on a nine-game winning streak because everything was clicking, everyone was doing their assignments, and it helped us play better as a unit, which led to great results. I would say taking the few losses we had at the beginning of the season really molded us because it shaped us into men who faced a little adversity and bounced back. Who was the best player you have ever faced in a game, along with the team he played for? The best player I faced this season was Lukus McDaniels. He goes to Jeffersontown in Louisville, Kentucky. He has committed to Southern Illinois University. The guy is very talented and has the size any coach would love. Going against him was a great help to me with my game personally and made me better. Who has been the best team you have faced, and why do you think they were so good? The best team I would say I faced was North Oldham; they had a great game plan coming into our contest. They were well prepared, mixed up their defenses to slow me down, and they had a great offense that gave our defense some problems, so props to them. What is the hardest part of a Desales practice? I would say the hardest part is the whole practice. Our coach doesn't take it easy on us because he wants us to be great men, and nothing in life is given to you, which is why I appreciate him a lot. Practices are very similar to games. What will you miss the most from the 2024 class? The thing that I will miss the most is the bond we had. They were a great group of guys who were great leaders. So, it's going to be a tough feeling in their shoes, but I believe in my guys, and we can make it happen. Which road stadium is the toughest to play in? Explain Jefferstown, because the atmosphere was crazy, and both sides of the bleachers were filled and the back of the end zones were lined up with people, but it was very exciting to grind in that type of atmosphere. Which stadium do you feel has the best overall atmosphere? Our stadium is special because our support system is extremely good and plays a huge role in most of our wins. What is your biggest strength as a receiver? My biggest strength is how quick I am. I have great hand and eye coordination, and I try to separate myself from most receivers. What part of your game do you feel you need to improve on the most? The thing I would say that I need to improve on the most is my body. I'm not satisfied with it now, and I have really been focusing on that during the off-season. What have you been doing during the off-season to help you improve? I've been working on my mobility, little details on routes, building strength, and speed. Where should the state finals be held? Kroger Field What is your favorite sports movie? Like Mike What scares you? Not being great. What is the one food you refuse to eat? Blueberries. Link to interview with pics sent by the player https://hearltlandfan15.blogspot.com/2024/02/2024-interview-with-davon-mrtin-jr-from.html
  10. Luke Toothaker Franklin county I’ve played tight end and defensive end. 2025 What were the high and low points of the 2023 season? Highs, I would say, were going into the playoffs with a 10-0 regular season. The lowest point of the season was the ending. We studied Boyle County all year, but in our semifinal game against them, we lost 44-14. What was your biggest accomplishment during the 2023 season? Our team became the winningest team in school history, going 13-1, as well as me filling in my role and my part on the team. During the 2023 season, who was the best player you faced in a game along. with the team he played for? Montavin Quisenberry of Boyle County was the best player we faced all season. He had fast acceleration as well as being shifty. During the regular season, which road stadium had the best overall atmosphere? Playing on the road week 1 against Great Crossing was the best away game atmosphere. The stands were packed, and it was a late-night game. During the regular season, which road stadium was the worst to have played in? Henry County, by far, has Muddy Grass Field right next to a cow farm. What are you going to miss the most from the 2024 class? There were a lot of solid guys on the team that I will miss this next season. If you could change one rule in high school football, what would it be? As an edge, I would for sure say roughing the passer; refs have gotten too easy with throwing a flag at anytime the QB is touched. What changes would you make as far as the playoff system goes in Kentucky? I think the playoff system is good as it is. Teams with the highest RPI should be able to stay home for most playoff games. Going into the state semi-final game against the machine known as Boyle County, how confident were you? I was very confident in myself and my guys; we were a young team, but nobody was doubtful or not confident in themselves or each other. Would you share with the readers some of the schools that are recruiting you? Some of the schools that are recruiting me currently are most of the Ivy League schools, mainly Yale, Brown, Cornell, and Harvard, as well as Academy schools like Army and Navy, as well as some other FCS schools like Weber State and EKU. Currently, my only two offers are from Yale and EKU. What has been the best and worst part of the recruiting process so far? The best part is definitely seeing the opportunities football has given you and knowing that the countless hours of hard work that you’ve put in have paid off. The worst part would have to be stressing about what school and program are best for you and knowing that you will have to make that decision. If you could add one new team to the Franklin County schedule, who would it be, along with the reason you want to play that team? Covington Catholic, We haven’t gotten to play them yet, and they are new to 4A. Franklin County is commonly overlooked, and I want people to see that we can hang out and compete with the big teams in the state like Cov Cath, Corbin, and Boyle County. What is one food you refuse to eat? Mayonnaise ain’t no way What is your favorite class or subject? English What scares you? Outside of football, I am just not successful or able to provide for my family and those around me. 12. I watched this one this morning. Berry (7-2) toyed with Rochester (2-1) as they posted the 4-0 win. Jackson Collett (Lilburn, Ga.) picks up the win to improve to 2-1 on the season. He went five innings striking out two batters. Levi Cloud (Decatur, GA) hit his first bomb of the season. After all was said and done he had 2 hits, with three RBI. Jackson Reed (Corte Madera, CA) had two hits for Rochester.

  14. Wooster improves to 4-1 with their pasting of Otterbein (1-2) this afternoon. Devin Anthony, 1-0 (Chardon, Ohio) picks up the win today. He went five innings giving up four earned runs. Luke Walter (0-1) (Dublin, Ohio) took the loss. He went 3.1 innings allowing five earned runs. Noah Sprowls (Galena, Ohio) had the game's only homer in a losing effort.
  15. The Cougars (22-7, 13-3 C.A.A.) spoiled senior night for the Tigers (17-12, 10-6 conf) with their 16-point blowout win. The Cougars had just two players in double figures, with Francis Policelli (New Hartford, NY) leading the way with 17 points. 17. Jace Hatfield Corbin High School Defensive Tackle 2025 How long have you played football, and what keeps you playing? I have been playing football ever since I can remember; football is something I’ve done ever since I was eight, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. What makes me keep playing football is my family and my faith in the Lord. I have a dream of playing football for the glory of God and want to praise him for everything I have and will accomplish. What makes playing for Corbin so special? Corbin is like a family. Families fight with one another, but at the end of the day, they love you. I get this with Corbin, and getting to see our stands packed on Friday night only helps push me to play better. What is the most difficult part of playing high school football? The most difficult part is the practice. You have to strengthen your mind in order to go through our practices and get better. You are listed on your Hudl page as playing DT and DE. Of the two, which one do you feel you are better at? DT because I feel the strongest there with my explosiveness and strength. In watching some of your highlights on Hudl, you make it look easy coming off of a block to swallow the ball carrier. What do you feel is your biggest strength as a defensive lineman? My biggest strength has to be my explosiveness and effort. I try my hardest to make a play, even though it is tempting to want to take a play off. What do you feel you need to improve the most to become a more dominant player this season? I have to keep working on my explosiveness and building strength so I can be the most effective player on the field. What have you been able to accomplish during the off-season to aid you in becoming a better player? I have been able to set a hard workout schedule, and I try to keep my diet clean. Who is the best player you have ever played in a game, along with the team he played for? The best player I have ever played with was Jerod Smith. He played with us last season, and he was the biggest inspiration to me. I felt like I gained a lot from learning and practicing with him over the course of the season. In looking at only the road games you have played in, which stadium had the best overall atmosphere, along with the reasons it was so good? The best overall atmosphere has to be playing at Kroger Field for the state championship my sophomore year. Staying with the road game theme. Which road stadium is the worst to play in, and why is it so bad? The worst stadium has to be Lexington Catholic because they have the worst turf I have played on. In the first play of the game, I had turf on both of my arms from top to bottom. Can you name some of the schools that are recruiting you? Marshall and Cumberlands If you could pick any stadium, college or pro, to play a game in, which stadium are you playing in, along with the reason you chose the stadium? I would play at Kroger Field because it is an awesome stadium. What is one food you refuse to eat? One food I would not eat is Brussels sprouts. Who are your favorite and least favorite college football teams? Kentucky is one of my favorites, and I don’t really dislike a school. What is your favorite class or subject? I enjoy our HVAC classes at our high school. Link to article with pics https://hearltlandfan15.blogspot.com/2024/02/2024-interview-with-d-lineman-jace.html
