They must have a lot of confidence in Betsy Layne then because they have them in pretty much every round. They are even giving them TBA opponents. :lol:

If we had to rank the teams who are most likely to win entering the "All-A", the favorites would look like this....... 1.) Betsy Layne 2.) Sheldon Clark 3.) Shelby Valley 4.) Pikeville 5.) Yep, a lot can change in two weeks. The way the 15th Region usually plays out a team can be on fire one week, but garbage the next, and vice versa. Would not surprise me to see a team that may miss the semifinals come on strong at the end of the season, as well as a semifinal team from All-A fizzle out at the end of the year and doesn't even make it to regional tournament. Just the nature of the 15th, but thats what keeps it interesting. KHSAA has Betsy Layne already listed in the semi finals, so not sure if they have an automatic bye since they won last year or what the deal is there, I will have to find out more. I couldn't imagine them losing a game or two this weekend and still be in the semifinals/finals, but I don't know. The format is really mixed up this year, I guess it's because of such an odd number of teams (13). Prestonsburg and Paintsville seemingly get a bye as they will play their first game against a team who has already played. Betsy Layne has two games scheduled this weekend, one tonight against South Floyd and another TBA on Sunday. Really mixed up format.

If I had to bet my own money I would go with one of these two, but you can't count out Sheldon Clark or even Pikeville.

Almost mid way through the high school basketball season, there's still a lot we don't know about the 15th Region. We know some teams are good, we know some teams "can be" good, but right now we really don't know very much about the region aside from it's wide open. Looking at the schedules every team has been beating up on each other in the 15th. Johnson Central and Betsy Layne may be the top dogs up to this point, but both have in region losses to Sheldon Clark and Prestonsburg respectively. Both have also beat numerous teams throughout the region thus far. For Betsy Layne, one of those teams will have a shot at revenge in the opening round as they are scheduled to play South Floyd. The Bobcats of Betsy Layne beat the Raiders of South Floyd on Dec. 14th by a score of 57-34. Although you wouldn't think the outcome would be different this go around, anythings possible in a tournament format. Johnson Central on the otherhand is not classified as a class "A" school, thus they will not be playing in the event. Also absent is the Belfry Pirates who are off to a 6-2 start. With those two teams aside, we should really get a good look at how the region stacks up against one another in this year's All-A. The opening match-up may as well be the most intriguing. East Ridge (7-6) will be making their first appearance in the 15th Region "All-A", they will be squaring off with district foe Pikeville (6-7). If being county and district rivals was not enough fuel for the fire, this also marks the first time the two teams will meet since the transfer of former East Ridge talent (canadian transfer) Ray Kasongo. Kasongo transferred from East Ridge before the season and after appeal was awarded eligibility for Pikeville. At first the inside out duo of Kasongo and Ethan Rowe looked to fight for one of the top spots in the regional rankings. However, after starting 5-1, the Panthers are 1-6 in their last seven games. East Ridge on the otherhand still hasn't fully recovered from losing Kasongo, as well as fellow canadian Tony Wolter. With Kasongo and Wolter East Ridge made it to the regional championship game a season ago, this season they will be fighting just to make the regional tournament. They still have sophomore standout Johnny Miller, but as young as the Warriors are they still have a long way to go, and the learning curve has been steep. This matchup will give a great look at where these teams are heading as we dip into the latter part of the season.

He's been dealing with it most of the season thus far I'm wanting to say......

I know JC has been a little banged up, but I was hoping they would hold their own down state. For the first time in a while the 15th region has a team with a player who has the talent to match up with some of the d1 kids down state, hated to see them miss their opportunity to get a couple big wins. I know a lot of that has to do with Hall's injury, if he was 100% may be a different story, but still disheartening to see them get beat like that in a tourney I was hoping they would fair well in.

As we dig deep into the middle part of the high school basketball schedule, much has changed in the 15th region. Apart from two or three of our top pre season teams holding strong at top, the rest of the region has been a mixed bag. Pre season number one Johnson Central has stayed the course coming off of last seasons trip to Rupp. Behind D-1 prospect Shane Hall, The Golden Eagles have posted a 8-6 mark to this point with most of their losses coming out of region. As far as the region goes the only real blemish on their record is their 41-45 loss on the road at Sheldon Clark, so don't let the record fool you. With losses to 14th Region power Perry County Central, as well as losses to South Oldham, Christian Academy of Louisville, South Oldham, and John Hardin. You can argue the most impressive team so far has been Junior Newsomes Betsy Layne Bobcats who enter the 15th Region All-A with a 10-3 mark. They have recorded wins over Highlands and a host of other 15th region opponents. They have an early loss to Prestonsburg and a couple losses to Louisville schools, Central and Louisville Collegiate. Dylon Meade and Peyton Case have been phenominal thus far for the Bobcats scoring 12.6 and 14.1 respectably. At this point I would pencil Betsy Layne and Johnson Central at 1A and 1B. They both have most of their losses out of region, but both lost to in region opponents in Prestonsburg and Sheldon Clark. The rest of the region has somewhat been a mess, all over the place. Preseason top 5 Belfry looks good at 6-2, but have recorded most of their wins against WV opponents, with losses to Mingo Central (WV) and Betsy Layne. Sheldon Clark is the biggest surprise after losing their coach and star player Justin Johnson. Right now they would be the third team in our 15th Region Rankings, and with a win over Johnson Central you could argue that they should be number one. Sheldon Clark sits at 7-4 right now with all of their losses coming out of region (North Oldham, Ashland Blazer, Boyd County, Henderson County). Pikeville and East Ridge can somewhat be considered disappointments up until this point, and both will be trying to knock each other out of a regional tournament birth in the 59th district. Pikeville (6-7) got off to a hot start, but have cooled recently with in region losses to Betsy Layne and Magoffin County, as well as out of state losses. They have the talent to make a run, so we'll see what happens. The young East Ridge team has took their lumps and stands at 7-6 with losses to Sheldon Clark, Betsy Layne, and Morgan County out of the 16th. Shelby Valley and Paintsville take winning records into the All-A at 7-6 and 6-4 respectively. Prestonsburg (with a win over Betsy Layne) is sitting at .500 (6-6). Predictably to this point the region is still wide open, just one of the things that makes the 15th Region so fun to watch. Heading into the All-A classic, we should get a better feel of who are the pretenders and who are the contenders. We will have the 15th Region All-A preview shortly.

I think the safe bet is on them, I would probably give them 10 points at least but SC should be pretty good by the end of the season.

This weeks Regional Game of the week is between two unbeatens and two of the top 5 teams in our regional rankings. The Golden Eagles of Johnson Central will travel to Inez for this matchup with the Cardinals of Sheldon Clark. Another good regional game of note is the Pikeville/Betsy Layne matchup slated for Tuesday, December 11th. Also, after their run at a state football title came up short in overtime, the Belfry Pirates are set to start their basketball season this week against Jenkins. In a huge out of region matchup, 15th Region #1 will go head to head with 14th Region titan Perry County Central. This matchup will showcase two of the mountains best prospects in Shane Hall (JC) and Justin Johnson (PCC). Should be a great week for hoops.

One may ask why a team like Pikeville can come in at number two in the rankings over unbeatens such as Sheldon Clark and Pre-Season number two Shelby Valley. One may also ask how an idle team like Belfry can still be top five over teams who have already been winning games. The answers to both are pretty simple, Pikeville is good and Belfry still hasn't proved that their not. Until Belfry not only play's but loses games, they will keep their top 5 ranking, of course we get to find out tomorrow as they play their season opener against Jenkins (14th Region) on the road. Pikeville on the otherhand has been a surprise. After a big ruling on the Ray Kasongo appeal, the Panthers are primed to have a great season. Not only did that add Ray Kasongo, but the ruling also brought them his brother 6'6'' Ruben Kasongo as well. Although the younger Kasongo may not have a high impact, his size alone will do great for depth and for practice. With Ethan Rowe and Jacob Hamilton, Pikeville has the talent to make a serious run in the tournament. Their only loss so far has came to out of state Washington PA. At this stage with only the out of state loss, I had to give Pikeville a major bump in the rankings. Sheldon Clark is another fast riser early in the season. It was my mistake to discredit the Cardinals after losing not only their star player in Justin Johnson, but their coach as well. Seems I may have wrote them off too soon as the Cardinals have very good size and albeit young, look to have what it takes to remain a top 5 team this season. Nothing against Shelby Valley for taking them out of the 2 spot without even losing, but with Pikeville playing and winning more games I had to jump them in the rankings. Pikeville also boasts the most talent now that Kasongo is eligible, but Belter and the young Wildcats are no slouches. If they continue their winning ways they should remain a top 3 team. After losing to Prestonsburg 67-61, I felt the need to slot Betsy Layne right behind the Blackcats at #6 & #7 respectively. Paintsville is 2-1 after losing to Jenkins, Pike Central's young team is off to a 2-1 start, and the Running Rebels of Allen Central are off to a 2-3 mark to start the season. The rest of the region has started pretty slow with several teams not putting any W's in the win column, Lawerence County is at the top of this tier with their one win.

After a slow start to the 15th region season, we are now off and running. While the top team from our preseason rankings remains at the top, some surprises are already starting to emerge. Only a couple weeks into the season the region has already been shaken up. It's shaping up to be a very interesting season in the 15th, much like last year there's a lot of parity and come February it can be anyones to lose. Week 3 Top 10 Team Rankings 1.) Looking like Kasongo at Pikeville is going to get eligible following appeal. If this is the case he would instantly climb to number two in player rankings and Pikeville would become a top 3-5 team. Kasongo was initially ruled in eligible after the move from East Ridge.

I'm on ATT and the wait times around my area were over a couple weeks. You got a pretty sweet deal there, if I knew I could have got one in two or three days I would have ordered it over a month ago. But I agree on the smoothness, everything runs great. I love the retina display, as one of my friends said, it is the best screen display on any electronic out, tv's and computers included. The picture and color is amazing.

Two months after the initial release I finally got my hands on one. I had been waiting patiently for the local ATT stores to get one in and had to wait well over a month. The wait time on an online order was 14-21 days so I just waited for them to arrive in the stores. Never had I seen a phone take that long to ship again after the initial release date, I asked the guys if it was because Apple now made iPhones for other providers and they said it was because they filled twice the pre orders as usual. Got mine last week finally and it's everything I thought it would be, so glad I didn't give in and just go get the 4S or one of the new Samsung phones.

I don't know anything about the situation so he could have had to go through a lot. BUT, this I know for sure, coming from teachers and coaches at the school I talked to last year. I had heard many stories about Ray being a handful and not respecting authority. He got in trouble once last year for pouring a bottle of water over a girls hair because she stepped on his shoe. He told her to get down and wipe it off or something and she told him no that she was sorry it was an accident, Ray then poured the water he was holding over her head. That wasn't the only story I had heard. Not trying to make the kid look bad, and I hope he didn't receive improper treatment from his guardians but from what I heard he wasn't necessarily an angel by any stretch. I could easily see a scenario where he done something and was forced out of the home, I'm sure theres been numerous events that led to it. But like I said, don't know the situation, just an assumption. I just hope he wasn't mistreated by his guardians in any way, I just know he had some attitude and character problems at school (and this info comes from teachers and coaches of other sports).

Yes it would, hypocrisy is hypocrisy no matter what side of the fence it falls on. Personally I try to stay away from hypocrisy even though this world is full of it. Anyone around the area though knows the stink that was made about Wolter and Kasongo playing for ER last year, especially from the Pville folks. They tried everything they could do to make them ineligible and acted like it was such a lack of integrity for Canadian kids to be playing in Pike Co. Seems like now they are trying to welcome Kasongo with open arms, just funny to me how you can hate a guy one minute then love him the next.

I heard he was at a Pikeville football game with Steve Silvers, but who know's if that means anything. I had heard they had talked quite a bit last year as well. One things for sure, if he ends up at Pikeville it would be the most ironic situation of all time. After all the crying that he ended up at ER in the first place (especially considering PHS' history with all the transfers they have received over the years), it will be funny to see how their attitudes quickly change if he try's to wear Maroon and White. Last year it was the most outrageous thing in the world for him to get eligible at ER, now that the tables have turned it's no big deal and now they will love the kid? Typical hypocrisy. Not saying this is where he's going because I have no idea, just saying it would be very ironic if so.

Ooops, I knew that. We have an employee here at work named Jordon Messer so I am always seeing his name on my paperwork and some other things I have to do. But yeah football season will cause him to get a late start but when tournament time rolls around he should be clicking.
