  1. I am surprised no one has mentioned Victor Anderson. He will take over the QB position for X next year. I see them running a two QB system, sliding him over to RB every couple of series. No one in the State will come close to having the game changing effect that Vic will have at QB. He has one heck of an arm and everyone already knows he can take any snap the length of the field if the D is not paying attention.
  2. I agree that this game should be a little closer, but you are wrong about the X Secondary. They are Very Good, one of the better groups X has had in several years.
  3. This is how Trinity can keep it close. They need to Listen to 02Ram54 & Clubberlang, they know what they are talking about.
  4. I know Trinity has improved tremendously since the end of September, but don’t forget how one sided that game was. That X / T game was just about as one sided as the Trinity win over BC. Trinity got most of their yardage and all of their points against the 2nd & 3rd team D. That score could have easily been 60 to 0 if the starters stayed in the game. I agree that it will be a great rematch but I would think the Tigers will be at least a 10 point favorite. You don’t make up 40+ points with the return of one or two injured players. It should be another classic on Friday.
  5. Are you serious? I know Trinity has improved tremendously since the end of September, but don’t forget how one sided that game was. That X / T game was just about as one sided as the Trinity win tonight over BC. It should be another classic in two weeks. Good luck against HC, I think they might be better than some think.
  6. This atmosphere reminds me of the X / Nelson County game in 1997. Small Field with only a fraction of the seating needed to accommodate the crowd, two great football teams in fact the same two coaches. That night X traveled with @ 4,000 faithful to Bardstown and it turned out to be one of the best High School games I have ever seen. There is something to say about atmosphere, even if the X fans are a little inconvenienced with the seating, you can’t put a price on the atmosphere created with a road trip to a small, somewhat rural setting. It’s what the High School Football Playoffs are all about. I am talking about the fans; the logistical nightmares for a traveling Team is another story all together.
  7. Regional Titles shouldn’t be an issue, John Hardin is only a couple of years old. In fact, no John Hardin Alum was alive in 1975.
  8. Trinity and St. Xavier place an emphasis on the Individual and making that Individual better. Regardless of the activity, quick recall, speech and debate, cross country, wrestling, football, it doesn’t matter, The two schools have established a Tradition of being the Best, the very Best that Individual can be. If that means they have put an emphasis on Football, than you are correct, because the students at the two schools won't have it any other way.
  9. How else can you explain Manual time and time again having the more talented team, having the lead late in the second half, having dominated the game statistically in almost every category, and losing. Over the last several years it seems that the coaching staff deviates from a game plan that has been working all game long. It is as if they get impatient. Just look at the Trinity game the last two years or the Male game, it seems to happen often. There are obviously things that the staff does well, but I wouldn’t call finishing a game one of them.
  10. What Tradition? What Excellence? Don’t forget you are in an Athletic form. Manual has always had solid athletic programs, but how many State Championships? How many wins against the Big 3?
  11. Yes they are posting links, both of which destroyed their own argument. I will provide some useful links tomorrow but again the only way to compare the two is by examining the number of National Merit finalist, the percentage of graduates accepted to and enrolling in college, and the number of those students who receive financial assistance due to academic performance. I would also like to examine the average SAT and ACT scores between the two. I will get my hands on that tomorrow.
  12. Again, did you bother to examine the data that you provided.? Look at the 50-state tables and the data behind the rankings and you will see these results support what I stated earlier that Kentucky is making strides in improving its Educational System, but still ranks near the bottom in all statistical categories. The facts are right in front of you, or will you hold a meeting and vote to remove the 40 or state that rank above Kentucky.
  13. If someone takes a shot at a State Senators comments like the response below, using very poor statistics I should have the opportunity to point that out. But yes, you are correct there is more to education than just test scores, you are seeing the results in the success that all the private schools in Kentucky are having. 14. It is difficult to compare the average private schools to the average public schools in Kentucky due to the fact that they don’t require their students to take the same state exams. Choosing to raise this question you should have already know this. Like I stated earlier I believe a good number of the private schools are very comparable to the public schools in the Sate. There are several schools however, that are far stronger academically than any public school except Manual. Just examine the number of National Merit finalist, the percentage of graduates accepted to and enrolling in college, and the number of those students who receive financial assistance due to academic performance. Don't even begin to compare or question the academic tradition of St. X, because it is far stronger than its athletic tradition I promise you that.
  15. Did you read at the bottom of the page describing the data in the sited tables. They have nothing at all to do with test scores. This is an economic research site that examines the quality of education with economic factors.
  16. Like I said you just wouldn’t understand, the private schools in Kentucky are having success in both their academic endeavors and on the athletic fields, and a good number of Public School Supporters have given up tiring to compete so they have voted to eliminate their competition. That is a wonderful lesson for the children in those schools, when the going gets tough, just give up and change the rules, take the easy way out.
  17. Take a look at the United States Department of Education, National Education Association, and Fedstats Web Sites. Those along with Ranking Agencies such as the National Assessment of Educational Progress Report Card, and Morgan Quitno Press; State and City Ranking Publications will show that Kentucky is making improvements like I mentioned before but continues to rank between 37th and 48th in the Country in all Educational Statistics. If you are happy with even the top ranking of 37th in the country than congratulations, but I am just am not satisfied with those marks, Those rankings just don’t make the grade.
  18. 45th or 50th, When it comes to Education, Kentucky is one of the worst states in the country across the board. Not even close to the national average. Yes the State is getting better, but we have a long way to go.
  19. You have to look at the big picture when comparing public and private schools. It is not just the academic aspect of the school, most public schools are close to if not stronger than a good number of the private schools in Louisville with the exception of St. X. It is the spiritual and community aspect of catholic education that separates the two. Those benefits of private schools are not going to show up on test scores, and I would not expect most public school supporters to understand their importance. But when asking the question why are these private school so successful in everything they do, you have to consider these qualities to see the big picture.
  20. As posted earlier and I believe it needs to be posted again, because these words say it all. “This vote calls into question the capability of KHSAA… to deal with the issue and others like it. Their response to strong competition is not harder work, it’s changing the rules. If the superintendents… would bring the same commitment to education…Kentucky wouldn’t be 50th in just about everything.” Senator Tim Shaughnessy, D-Louisville Louisville Courier-Journal October 21st, 2005 Soon the KHSAA Public School Division will be a watered down “B” division that will not be able to compete with schools from other states, and yes the KHSAA will soon join the State’s Education Department as one of the worst in the country.
  21. I'm not sure if you have heard the news but the Board of Control turned down Prop 20. I believe the vote was 9 to 7? They stated that it would coast @ $150,000 to run both a public and private championship. It looks as if at least 9 people took the time to examine the big picture and didn't just cast a vote without thinking the about the consequences.
  22. I think that all Private School supporters should decided to stop giving money to the public school scholarship fund, which by the way also goes to athletes. If you are having trouble figuring it out, We should not have to pay the percentage of our State Tax that goes to Education. It is obviously not being spent properly, look at the quality of our Public Schools, so they shouldn’t miss our donations.
  23. “This vote calls into question the capability of KHSAA… to deal with the issue and others like it. Their response to strong competition is not harder work, it’s changing the rules. If the superintendents… would bring the same commitment to education…Kentucky wouldn’t be 50th in just about everything.” Senator Tim Shaughnessy, D-Louisville Louisville Courier-Journal October 21st, 2005 This about says it all, soon the KHSAA Public School Division will be a watered down “B” division that will not be able to compete with schools from other states, and yes the KHSAA will soon join the State’s Education Department as one of the worst in the country.
  24. The word on the street is that the Catholic schools of Kentucky will not participate in any KHSAA Championship if the separation goes through, nor will they compete against any public school. Why bring the large crowds and pay for the public schools athletic budget. This will come true, there is no doubt in my mind
