We were sitting up at the top of Rash and this little kid comes running up to aces03 and says "the coach fired the waterboy". I started laughing thinking he was joking but come to find out he actually did. :laugh:

For Owensboro Catholic it was against Fort Campbell. I know some people will say the game against Desales put us in the finals so it was bigger but I disagree. The game against the Fort was a game I didn't even think we could win and we went down there and pulled out one of the best high school games I have ever witnessed.

Special Teams could be the difference in this game. The Aces special team is somewhat of a mystery to me. They will make gamebreaking plays, such as the Fort Campbell game, or they will have times when they just don't do anything right, Trigg game. We couldn't get a good KO return, had a punt blocked, etc... Could be an interesting matchup.

That would be impressive because that was the best line I have ever seen in high school. They were dominant.

You are excatly right. Last year every one talked about how good Jones and Howard were from Belfry but the people that impressed me the most were the o-linemen for the pirates. These guys don't get enough credit for any team.

I think that should say what the OC fans think. We are not players or coaches for OC and if we don't think the Devils are prepared, which I believe they will be, it has no bearing on the game.

Very rarely do our receivers take big hits. Occasionally you will see one of them get hammered but not very often. A lot of that has to do with Catholic putting the receivers in position to not get drilled, rolling the pocket and hitting a guy on the sideline or playaction to get guys in areas vacated by out of position defenders.

So is this the last three or four weeks that Catholic is not as physical as their opponent and will lose because of it, I will go back and check.

Very true and there are schools that try and just copy that product from watching film but I don't think they would have as good as success because you don't have the input as to what you are doing wrong. No disrespect to most high school coaches but Franklin is a great football mind and not only can he get you the system but he has an advanced knowledge of the QB position which most high school coaches don't have.

I believe so. As far as how much he gets paid I am not sure, I think there was an article in the USA Today a few months ago about him and I think they mentioned that, but I could be wrong. I know a lot of people don't like the idea of this but he really does help these kids. He made Zach Barnard a much better player and really helped refine his skills as a QB, not to mention he helped start Woody on the right path to being a good QB. People also need to realize this is his business, a good one at that, and he is just taking advantage of a gift he has.

Tony is a fantastic coach and really helps these schools out. He is a football genius and has really helped make Catholic what they are today. I am not saying Catholic wouldn't be as far as they are but he has, as you said, sped up the process.

Once Coach Edge gets them posted on the khsaa website I will put them on here. Right now they have some wierd numbers up there for Woodward. They should have that changed in a couple of days, I hope.

Catholic did well running up the middle against the Fort. They ran a lot of misdirection stuff out of the gun and got some big yardage that way. I don't have the exact stats for Kamuf but I know he is over 1200 yards rushing and close to 500 yards receiving.

The problem is noone has been able to get consistent pressure on him. Fort Campbell probably had the most success but they only got to him a few times and a couple of those he managed to get free and once threw a TD another ran for one.

The way Daviess County burned Catholic last year was with the pass. They threw all over Catholic with Wimsatt just throwing as far as he could and letting Logsdon run under it. I don't think they even used the wingT that game at all. I agree that Catholic didn't have much success running against Trigg but the aces had a lot of success against both Fort Campbell and Desales.

Hey pirate make sure you all don't lose, I really want to play you all again if we can beat Desales. You all have a classy program.

I agree with what Billy said, this defense is improved over last year. As he said they are more mature but I also think they seem faster. It seems like they get to the ball faster and with more defenders. One thing I will say about Desales is that they might run the same offense as Belfry but there is no way they run it as well. I have not seen them but there are very few teams that were as good as Belfry last year. They had the combination of size and speed that few teams have. Catholic's offense is pretty much the same as last year but they have added a running game that is very successful. They can power over you or they can run around you.

In football the only difference between gutsy and stupid is success rate.

I know you probably didn't intend for it to sound this way but Desales is not the same team as Belfry. That was a once in a lifetime team and I doubt they can put over 500 yards on the ground against an improved O cath defense. They do have some astounding rushing stats though and Catholic will have to be ready to stop that. I also noticed that Desales has given up a lot of passing yards. Has that been season long problem or is that an early season problem that has been ironed out?

I picked O Cath, but as someone said above Belfry is the champs. It would be hard to believe that this Belfry team couldn't do what the previous two did. I really do want another chance at Belfry though. I think we are better equipped to deal with them this year, not saying we would win, just that we have some things that we lacked last year.
