They could still play, probably just not on varsity. It's not like Scott County is carrying 40-man JV baseball, softball and soccer rosters. And the size has its advantage, too. You can offer more sports and sports-like activities like archery, bowling, bass fishing, wrestling, lacrosse, field hockey, ice hockey (believe T and X both have), powerlifing, boys' volleyball (taller net, harder hitting), JROTC drill team, winter guard, etc. It's awfully hard for a small school to be able to offer all of those. Awfully hard for small schools to offer upper-level classes such as AP Italian or AP Physics. Might be harder to earn your VARSITY spot at a big school, but spots are still available. And there are MORE opportunities because there are generally more offerings.

Not sure the specs of the new school. However, it would be completely FOOLISH and make no sense (or cents) to build a 2-A high school. As fast as Scott County has been growing, the new school (assuming it was built to only be 1-A or 2-A) would be maxed out. As far as I know, the new non-merger schools which have taken away from others are not of the 1-A or 2-A variety: - Collins (took away from Shelby County) - North Oldham (took away from either South Oldham or North Oldham or both) - Thomas Nelson (took away from Nelson County) - South Warren (took away from Greenwood, but also pulled from Warren Central) - John Hardin (took away from Central Hardin and North Hardin) - Cooper (pulled from Ryle and somebody else) All six have opened in the last 15 years. None are 1-A or 2-A. Think it's safe to say the new school in Scott County as well as Fayette County (yes, new public school is coming to Lexington, too) will be 3-A or 4-A ... at LEAST.

Fort Knox used to always take the first week of the regular season off and then play 10 straight. For them, it made sense because they have so many newcomers, they need the practice before playing somebody. Case in point: Fort Knox has THREE returning players from last year's team. TOTAL. Not seniors. Not starters. TOTAL returning players who were even on last year's roster. Elizabethtown used to always take the last week of the regular-season off. Allowed them to rest for the playoffs. Also allowed them to go scout in person. And with not many of their potential opponents doing the same, took away the chance for their opponents to come scout them. I like the idea of a 10-week regular season then open/bye week for EVERYONE and then playoffs.

I went to Bell County a couple of years ago for LaRue-Bell playoff game. Neat place to watch a game. Although I was with LaRue, fans and pressbox people were quite friendly. Now the Middlesboro Days Inn on the other hand. ... Suffice it to say it is the only place on TripAdvisor I've given a 1 (worst) out of 5. Fort Knox is a neat place when the soldiers are there and the team is good. Meade County (Death Valley) takes on an eery feeling win it is sprinkling or raining and the fog comes off cemetery hill near the scoreboard. Elizabethtown's old field -- Panthers opened a turf stadium on campus last year -- was awesome when the Panthers were good and rivals (Central Hardin, John Hardin, LaRue County) would come to town. With no track, plenty of people close to the action.

I've seen several places, and also his twitter, which keep saying 25.5 sacks. However, that number's been questioned. Just because you tackle a quarterback behind the line of scrimmage does NOT make it a sack arbitrarily. Don't get me wrong: HE HAD A LOT OF SACKS. He spent plenty of time in the backfield causing problems. The 4.5 forty also doesn't seem to pass the muster. Not many kids in Kentucky have that type of wheels. If he really did, he'd have far more offers than he does considering he went to some big-time camps (got some one-on-one time at Tennessee's camp because of how well he played). It's also concerting that out of all the folks who have posted/read this thread, a sack monster from a state champion with apparently 4.5 speed does NOT get mentioned until page SIX? Great player. Good potential. Apparently a good attitude from what I've read/searched. But not Mr. Football. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Thousands of players, and seniors alone, in this state. There's only gonna be one winner. Better chance of getting a DI/FBS scholarship than being named Mr. Football (or even a finalist). And he's already gotten the ride taken care of (commit to WKU). Good for him. Less stress as a senior. Do NOT believe WKU is gonna have back-to-back Mr. Football winners, though.

If it IS about stats, you've got guys who have done relatively nothing being thrown out there. (Yet blame the system they play in, which is something I ALREADY pointed out). You don't get it both ways. You're not going to have guys who weren't all-area or all-state (actually no where close) as juniors win Mr. Football or even make it to the Finalists lists. Will not happen. Has not happened. And yes, offers are huge in this. I don't care if a kid has "interest" in 50 schools or who they have visited (PLENTY of kids do that, not just nationally, but in Kentucky). Interest and letters mean little to voters. Who has offered. Not talking walk-on DI, or DII offers or DIII (no athletic scholarships) or NAIA (who often sign 40 kids a year). Full-fledge DI offers. Hate to bust your bubble, but kids with few stats entering their senior years, ones who specialize on defense (and not play QB, WR-TE, FB-RB), ones who transfer for their senior year and specifically ones who have never made All-State (which means they are way under the radar just in their local area, not to mention the state) ... are going to have a very very very hard time getting considered. Let alone winning. I'm not from BG. Not in same time zone. Not in same region. I have no relatives who live there. But Fant was very deserving last year. Either season based or career based or team based (multiple titles, great winning percentage). Although he chose to stay at home, he had a lot more actual offers than some players folks are throwing out there who would have a hard time making first-team all-state (let alone the one and only Mr. Football). I don't care who wins. I have no ties to Sindelar, Harris, Ryan, Nero, Drake Jackson, Eli Brown, Emmitt Smith, etc. None of them. Not friends with them. Didn't go to school at their schools or their rivals. But to think guys who have no preseason hype and nothing to base it on are going to come from the shadows and win Mr. Football as a darkhorse longshot ... that's crazy. Don't think it's ever happened. Why would it happen this specific year, unless Harris or Sindelar get injured or greatly under produce?

Agreed. There's Harris and Sindelar. Maybe Reece. Have a hard time making a stone-cold lead-pipe lock of a top 5. The top 10 is even more fluid. I have a hard time thinking transfers, guys switching positions, guys who have no major college offers and guys who didn't even make all-area (which means they didn't make all-state) as juniors are going to somehow win Mr. Football. Please. If we're going to keep adding names to this thing, let's wait until every team posts its roster on the KHSAA scoreboard and then we can copy-and-paste all the seniors. And NO, it should NOT be about stats. Because those do not take: - Strength of schedule - System into account. You think a QB in a spread system playing 2-A should be Mr. Football every year? Neither do I, but if you base it ONLY/SOLELY on stats, that's what you're leaning toward. There's a reason the leading senior scorer in soccer and basketball is NOT always Mr. Soccer or Mr./Mrs. Basketball. Stats are far from end-all, be-all.

Robertson County was built to replace Deming. Washington County is building a brand new high school to replace the current Washington County High instead of opening two separate ones. Nelson County, which was big but not huge, built a second school in the district (Thomas Nelson). Meanwhile, the Muhlenbergs merge, schools near East Ridge merge, schools in Harlans merge and of course, the three schools in Paducah merge to form McCracken College/University. Just kidding! More schools provide more opportunities (at least in athletics). More jobs (for teachers, staff). Can also be pricy (paying for two staffs instead of one) and might not offer some stuff (harder to justify AP-Italian at a 2-A school than 6-A school, when you would have a broader pool of students willing to take it). So apparently, there's no right or wrong among replacing, merging or splitting.

He's NOT 19. He's 18. He turns 19 in December of this year. I would think the basketball academy where he came from in Africa (Dieda) would know, considering its had his photo and birthday posted on its website ON THE SAME page since early 2013 (perhaps earlier). Its goal is to get African kids playing in American schools so theyy can be seen by colleges; in that regard, Dieda succeeded. Like Keita (or his handlers) would be the first person to lie about his age. Danny Almonte's handlers lied so he could pitch in the LLWS. Shabazz Muhammad (UCLA) lied, or his parents lied, to make it look like he was the best player of his age in the country (except he wasn't that age). But to go from 18 to 14? Come on? And to think you get a foreign-exchange kid for more than a year? Really? How many foreign-exchange eighth graders from around the state, in any sport, had you heard of previously?

If the KHSAA gets info from somebody (in this case, Hudson's guardian), looks into it and determines it's TRUE, then Cordia does NOT get the benefit of putting its accusers/whistleblowers on the stand. Since the KHSAA does its OWN due diligence before handing down punishments, about the only person Cordia will be able to call to the stand is ... the KHSAA. You're trying to imply/infer Hudson's guardian MUST take the stand (and therefore get Hazard in trouble, too). I'm saying it won't happen. KHSAA has plenty on Cordia without Hudson's guardian being involved. If Hudson's guardian had THAT much info on Cordia that was TRUE (true enough to get 14 sanctions leveled against Cordia), than it is CORDIA'S own fault someone who was no longer connected to the school had that type of dirt on them. If you let someone into your mafia and the new mafia member turns around and rats you out, you do NOT blame the new mafia member. The Godfather (Rhodes/Whitaker) should've had the new mafia member (Hudson's guardian) sleepin' with the fishies if they were worried it would be this big of a problem. Apparently they weren't. And it came back to bite 'em. Or maybe Hudson's guardian is lyin'. Maybe, but I doubt the KHSAA would level 14 sanctions based on a bunch of lies and ZERO FACT CHECKING of its own. KHSAA is smarter than that, dude. One person saying "This skool is cheatin" is NOT enough to get a school leveled with the KHSAA version of the death penalty. Come on.

You think Hudson's guardian is the only person/way the KHSAA was able to pin all 14 allegations on Cordia? Um, OK. Hudson has nothing to do with the Canadians or three guys with Mississippi ties or two more with NY/NJ ties or Keita's false paperwork ...

Not sure why Hudson's guardian would be on the stand in this instance. It's about Cordia, not Hazard. And if it WAS about Hudson, shouldn't the hammer have come down on Hudson/Cordia/Hazard WAY BEFORE it did? Don't think Hudson's guardian would even get called to the stand. Certainly not by the KHSAA. And how would he help Cordia's case since it ISN'T about any other school? Cordia is the one CHOOSING to go to court (if it does). Not Hazard, PCC, KCC, etc. Proving other guys do it too will NOT help Cordia get off. If anything, it shows Cordia was TRYING TO DO THE SAME ILLEGAL THINGS.

I don't think SW will be awful by any stretch. Could they end up in the top 10? Sure. Will they have a winning record? No doubt. But to act like the offense will be massively improved (although they were not fun to watch and plodding at times, SW was still sixth in scoring in its class IIRC) and the defense won't miss a lick (after holding teams to a ridiculous less than 1 TD per game)? Yeah, people are gonna be skeptical. One good regular season and a postseason flameout (when more was expected based on that dominating regular season) does not earn SW a pass on skepticism/criticism. Not yet anyway. Now BG on the other hand? Purples have proven they can reload. Against tougher schedules. In a tougher class.

HOWEVER, he is listed on a Canadian Basketball Academy website, just like Keita was on one from Africa. Those two, plus Frimpong, just magically happened to show up at the same school around the same time and just happened to be basketball players yet were NOT recruited and were supposed to be luck-of-the-draw foreign exchange kids? Um, OK. Usually foreign-exchange kids are NOT from Canada. And are usually juniors or seniors. Never 8th-freshman-sophomore. Red flags all around. Cordia gets three -- or more -- in a short time frame like that and DIDN'T think it would set off bells and whistles around the state (and at the KHSAA)? Brilliant. Cordia's rise, and demise, were its own doing. And fault.

I've been in contact with the Dieda Academy. You can facebook them if they want. They responded to me and I had NEVER previously contacted them before. They CONFIRMED -- TWICE -- it is the same kid. Are you saying the birthdate on their website (which many American prep schools/coaches look out to try to get African players) was WRONG -- by four years!!!! --- and is STILL wrong, way before the visa was ever issued? Um, OK.

You've never heard the term whitewash? Blowout. Trample. Steamroll. Ease past. Cruise by. Given the changes in the two teams (what SW lost compared to what E'town lost), changes in the coaching staffs (E'town getting Brown) and change in location (this time at E'town on turf), I'd say the chances of SW "whitewashing" E'town again in 2014 like they did in 2013 aren't as likely. SW is still the favorite in that game. But it could be a push or a toss-up if SW enters thinking it will be a mirror-image of what happened last year.

I do NOT nominate or vote. But I know people (dozens) who do. Feggins might not even be the best Mr. Football candidate on his OWN TEAM. 24-7 Sports has Warren Central linebacker Emmitt Smith has the second overall Class of 2015 player in the state (has Eli Brown third). So to say someone like Allen or Feggins is a Mr. Football candidate (or finalist or even winner) at this point is extremely far-fetched compared to: - Donald Brooks - Eli Brown - Nick Coffey - Damien Harris - Beau Hoge (Feggins' teammate at Highlands) - Drake Jackson - Grayson Miller - Reese Ryan - Elijah Sindelar (Caldwell County QB) - Emmitt Smith - Marquez Trigg - Mason Wolfe Is crazy. You've got two guys in your own backyard (Brown, Smith) who have better shots than Allen and Feggins. You're pumping up Feggins (who has yet to play a game at WC), yet ignore Smith? And I'm assuming since Eli Brown is at a rival school you're not going to give him the time of day. When it comes to SW Kentucky, Brown (WE), Coffey (RC), Smith (WC), Trigg (Glasgow) have better shots at this point. There's a whole season in front of us. At the same time, I don't see how you can honestly say Feggins and Allen are among the state's elite at this point.

E'town didn't have a whole lot of seniors last year. Returns a 1,500-yard back in Berneil Cecil (a sophomore last year). Also returns its leading tackler, both QBs (Hunter Sullivan is a D-I baseball recruit, Jack Wilson is starting baseball third baseman), all of its receiving threats. And oh year, hired Mark Brown. Mark has a LOT of guys who have been with him in the past. I think only one E'town assistant is back from last year and he wasn't a coordinator. Plus, South Warren comes to E'town this year on the turf (where E'town practices daily). SW fans better not expect for Spartans to whitewash E'town again just because it happened last year.

Feggins is a superb athlete and Allen has good size and strength. That loaded senior class at South Warren was awesome on defense. Offense? Yeesh. Plenty of teams could/did put up as many points in the first quarter alone as SW would score in an entire game. SW rode its awesome defense pretty far. Won few, if any, games with its offense. Hal Mumme South Warren was not. Secondly, I'm not sure you realize how Mr. Football works. To even be a finalist, you have to be nominated by multiple (I believe it's 3) AP outlets. Maybe the BG Daily News and WBKO throw them a bone, but I don't see many nominations coming from the rest of the state. Plus. you still have Eli Brown. You really think the Bowling Green/Warren County area will have THREE Mr. Football candidates/finalists with this: - Brown (coming off an injury) - Feggins (who didn't even play in the county last year) - Allen (a role player on a horrible offense) Um, no. Allen would have to have a MONSTER year. Smaller school. Least hype entering season. Easiest schedule. He'd need like 1,800 yards and a boatload of TDs to even get in the conversation. And if what you say about SW opening up the offense is true, I don't see a running back getting those types of numbers. He won't get enough touches.

The paying to move kids was NOT in regards to foreign exchange. It was paying for the ones coming from Mississippi, Jersey, etc. As far as Keita, the Dieda Academy has CONFIRMED the player on their site was the SAME who played at Cordia (and the player on their site is 18. They don't list players younger than 15). Keita might not have been 19 like some suggested, but you can't repeat a grade and keep eligibility in that same grade. Hudson can't be touched. If he was ineligible at Cordia, that does NOT necessarily mean he is ineligible EVERYWHERE in Kentucky. Cordia's mistake (or foolishness) was Hazard's gain. Cordia got Frimpong and Lucien in a loophole since they came to Kentucky to be a part of 18-Foot Academy (based in Breathittt County). Once that thing was shutdown, they stayed and landed with Cordia. And I don't even think the KHSAA is going after those two. It would NOT surprise me after all this: 1) KHSAA decides foreign exchange athletes are for one year only (thought that was already a rule). Or bans every school from getting foreign-exchange players in sports in back-to-back years (can't replace a Senegal center with one from Kenya). 2) KHSAA bans transfers from Canada. Period. Unless they have proof the whole family completely leaves Canada and cuts ties to the AAU/handlers (ahem, Bender) bringing them in. Ndahiro (Thomas Nelson) was ineligible for a season. King (North Hardin) had to sit this season. Kasongo has had eligilibity issues ... all have connections to CanadianProspects.ca. 3) KHSAA makes a bylaw (and passed by its member schools when it comes to appeals that other schools can't be brought up. Meaning YOU must prove why YOU are innocent. Not just yell "But but but, they did it too!") Nearly every argument coming from Cordia supporters (take off the blinders and put down the Kool-Aid) has to do with mentioning Knott or Hazard or other schools. This does NOT have to do with them. Not every punishment from the KHSAA will be the same (basically because KHSAA member schools THEMSELVES have not voted in a blanket punishment. That's their fault). Very few are arguing Cordia is innocent. More are arguing they are the only ones caught (but others do it too). That's a huge concern. Even if Cordia wins the appeal or lawsuit, it still loses. Because now it is on the KHSAA radar. And now out-of-state kids (and out-of-USA kids, in some cases) will be on the radar. I don't see how Cordia could have done everything by the book and will continue to have basketball players (let's not kid yourselves, they're not getting ANY other transfers except in boys' basketball) come in droves to a place in Kentucky (with poor academics) that you can barely find on a map.

Allen? No. Wasn't even decisively the best running back on his own team last year, which had a HORRIBLE offense. Feggins won't be in BG long enough to earn that type of votes. If there's a candidate from BG, it won't be Feggins or Allen. It's Eli Brown.

Hazard and Perry all at the same time? Paying (AND HELPING) moving kids? Money? Letting them live on campus? An 18-year-old (from an African basketball factory) posing as a 14-year-old 8th grader? No. Not even close. Check the transfer lists (they're public). Perry and Hazard have and do get transfers in other sports too. Some people have transferred away. Cordia's ONLY transfers were in boys' basketball. Almost all from out of state. All in a certain time frame.

I don't think Cordia can/could/would prove that. Have other programs (not just basketball) recruited? I believe so. Yes. But that many infractions at one time? I have ZERO belief any school, in any part of the state, in any sport, at any time, did what Cordia's been accused of. As far as getting off easier? Lexington Catholic (a brand name) got a huge fine in the last decade or so. Highlands (a brand name) and Fairview (in a way bigger city) had to forfeit wins. The KHSAA tried to keep Scott County (a brand name) from getting Euton/Jackson (KHSAA was over-ruled). Hopkinsville and Henderson County, two of the better WKY schools, have been busted. Did they get off easier? YES. Did they do the same exact laundry list Cordia is being acused of? If Cordia couldn't keep from getting busted with all this, I have little-to-zero faith they can prove their situation is in ANYWAY close to the previous ones mentioned. It's not apples and oranges. It's apples and aardvarks.
