Great atmosphere for a HS game, great crowd. My congrats to Male for the victory. Maybe we'll get you the second time around. I was also impressed with the players on both sides and their sportsmanship throughout the game. Beaumont was everything he was played up to be.
As I said before, this should be a classic barnburner. I forgot to wish both teams, especially the Tigers, good luck, and hope that there are no injuries Friday night, especially since it is this late in the season and playoffs looming.
In 1999 the Tigers had the speed to break the line for big gains(Butler, Legel, Payne), and I see this Friday. Unfortunately, I think Male has the horses too. I see a high scoring game that can go either way. Turnovers may be the final key.
I personally think that the greatest loss Friday was for the Seniors on both teams, particularly if they didn't get to play, or play much last year. This is the game that you play for all through grade school and high school, and finally it's your night-Your game-Your Senior year. For that reason, if no other, we need to hope for a rematch.
Amazing how MBA could stage a comeback in the fourth quarter on Trinity, at their home field, but St. X in no way, shape, or form is capable of overcoming a 10 point deficit in the first quarter.
Trinity had 1st and Ten within the red zone and settled for a field goal. To say with certaintly that they would have scored from the 35 is a bit assuming.
Credit Trinity for capitalizing, but X handed them a few gifts. History proves X would have settled in and it would have been a whale of a game.
Dillon Thiery (6'7", 300 plus) who has started at Northwestern 3 years for one. I'm sure there are others. I would rather take a chance on a T or X than a chance on some of the A or2A players we sign. Plus when the time comes, I think it's good to have someone on your roster to help recruit another from your school. I want Kids who know how to win, and know what it takes to win.
This is a good deal for UK. One of my complaints about UK recruiting is the lack of players on the roster from Male, X, and T. This year it's Jeffries from X, Shumate, originally a walkon from Male, and no T. Who was the last T player to play there? How can you not recruit arguably the top 3 4A programs consistently?
I said X by 10 earlier, the reason being that I think the X running game keeps Trinity's Offense on the sideline. If X can get an early lead, it might force T out of a normal offensive scheme to force the ball, given that the clock might become a factor.
But, what do I know? That's why they play the game>
