Official Apple Bowl Thread - Johnson Central VS. Paintsville
Over the history of this rivalry, Paintsville has had many more superior teams than has Johnson Central. However, I am not sure that Paintsville has had many...if any...opportunities to run up the score. That is, unless you count the middle school games in which Paintsville's 8th grade took advantage of a younger and less experienced JC 7th grade squad to run up scores. But, if you ignore that, Paintsville has been nothing but considerate and has shown great sportsmanship to Johnson Central. especially after those middle school games. Hey, now that I think of it, maybe that's how they were able to field those superior teams. Nah, that couldn't be it. So, I take back what I said before about hanging 100 on the Tigers. Let us have pity on the hapless Tigers and let them win this one. That's the least we could do since the folks across the creek have been so thoughtful and considerate of us lowly county folk. After all, we wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings or make them feel bad about themselves. Now would we?

Question About Postponed Games
I don't think so...just wasn't sure about the particulars of this situation.

Question About Postponed Games
If the injured player was not suited up in the game that was postponed it would seem to me that he would not be able to participate in the completion of the game.

Question About Postponed Games
If a player was injured for a regularly scheduled game which was postponed due to weather or any other extenuating circumstance, can that player play in the postponed game if, by the date the game is resumed, he has recovered from the injury? I am not aware of any particular instance in which this is the case. It was just something that crossed my mind.

Gordouze has been a great spark for JC this year. O-Linemen just can't handle his quickness.

Normally I would agree with not running up the score. However, any game against Paintsville is different. There are extenuating circumstances that I can't go into without the possibility of suspension...so I won't. But, after some of the stunts the parents and administration has pulled over at Paintsville...IMO, they deserve every butt kicking they get. I hope Johnson Central hangs 100 on the Tigers. I know that sounds harsh but that is how I feel. Sorry if it offends anyone.

Rockcastle's opponnent's record is 10-16. If you take Lincoln County out of the picture (the only team to defeat Rock) their opponent's overall record is 6-15. WOW...that is a much tougher schedule than JC has played this year!!! :jump:

Best running back in region 4 class AAA...
He's close to, if not over, 1100 yards on the season now.

Paintsville's opponent record is 8-24...and they have lost two games. Fairview 2-4 Prestonsburg 2-3 Those two losses account for 4 of their opponents wins. Allen Central, Jenkins, Betsy Layne and Phelps each have only one win.

Believe me...we have had our share of beatings over the years...lol...and if we have the opportunity to play Highlands this year we very well may take another. But I don't believe that you will hear anyone complain about someone running up the score. With that said, the Apple Bowl is a whole different game. Xyience is right. If Paintsville had the opportunity to hang 100 on the Golden Eagles they would. (That might not be out of the question for Johnson Central to do this year...no joke) You said that you are not from Paintsville or JC so I can understand your perspective as someone on the otuside looking in. However, with that said, this game is just different. I don't expect anyone not from Johnson County to understand...and that's okay.

I actually didn't think BC played particularly well tonight. They only had 136 yards total offense. They broke one big kickoff for a score, returned a fumble for the other and gave up 63 points. They may sneak into the playoffs but there is No Way they are going to beat Ashland for the number two spot. (yes I realize what I just said) And I'm not sure they can beat Lawrence, Mason and Greenup.

And JC's staff is more than capable of doing that.

According to the radio, both teams had 3 turnovers. One of BC's came on the blocked punt.

Very true. However, I believe tonight's mistakes may be a blessing in disguise.I have a feeling that Coach Matney and the staff gained some new fuel to add to the fire this week in practice. I know he will point out the mistakes this week. As a coach you are always looking for new angles to get through to your players. When everything is going smoothly it can sometimes be difficult to get through to your players because they are having so much success. I'm not implying that this is a problem for Johnson Central. However, I believe that tonight's mistakes will lead to a strong second-half run.

Isn't it just like an Ashland fan to think everything revolves around them?

I think you might need to re-read the post. I wasn't talking about Ashland. Next up for Johnson Central is Paintsville (the Tigers...hence the Kitty Kitty reference)

Great game defensively for the Golden Eagles. The Lions did not score an offensive touchdown. Their first score came on the opening kickoff 94 yards for the TD. Their final score came on the first play of the second half when Ian Welch fumbled...BC picked it up and took it in from 25 yards out. Three fumbles in the game for the Golden Eagles all of which were recovered by Boyd County. Two of those came on the sloppy end of the field. For the game... JC 13 First Downs BC 6 First Downs total offense BC 136 yards JC 476 yards Shawn Grimm 216 yards 4TD Chase Richardson 115 yards 1 TD Time Now to get ready for the Cross-Creek Massacre. JC has already slayed the Lions...the Kittens should be no problem. Here Kitty Kitty Go Eagles!!!
